Update 2.08 Now Available with Big Changes!

Teflonicus
What is the "previous update" you are referring to and how did it "make racing slicks terrible"?

I'm essentially asking Nismo34 is he is serious in stating that, up until today and update 2.08, racing tyres were lasting too long. The exact opposite was what I had been hearing.

What i meant was the racing slicks in the previous update in thought were not lasting anywhere close as they did in real life. They are better now maybe too good

I must say that the tire wear feels better now. Now I can do 8 laps at Circuit de la Sarthe in a Le Mans Prototype with a set of racing hard tires before the rear tires become about half worn out. Before the patch I could only manage 3-4 laps before the LMPs became impossible to control. I haven't checked how soft tires compare but now it's at least possible to maintain a good momentum over several laps without having to worry about pit stops.

Did a test with the 908. Usually around halfway in lap 2, the rear Soft tires would be at halfway with the fronts not far behind. Now though, they still are no where near halfway by lap 2 and it seems like they behave abit more like cold tires as a few times after coming out the pits with new tires, I got really sideways pushing the car through some fast corners.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the clarification. :) They certainly did need to be altered/increased from what they were. I'm going to do the 9 hour Tsukuba tomorrow, I hope, so I'll have a chance to see what the new changes are like.

Even if the tyres last a little too long, if it is closer to real life, I'll be happy. I just hope they've made using racing hards more worthwhile than they were too.

Agreed

I got two hours on one set of tires @ Tsukuba in the 4 Hour, teflonicus. Please compare & state which compounds you use & car.

New shadows after 2.08 or did I miss something?

Is that physics bug where you jack up the nose and drag tail of high downforce car that makes it faster in a straight line fixed?

Well, if you reduce downforce but keep using the same suspension it will go even faster now. Toyota GT-One does over 330mph now without draft (before update only 314mph).

Less downforce = less drag = higher top speed.

Heck yeah

I have a bug, I keep getting frameskips in top gear test track
EDIT, im actually getting it on all tracks I have tried playing, and my tv display is reading out 1080p 58hz, it used to read out at 60hz

I'm confused. :scared:

OT: (I'm tired of looking at you're messed up signature so I'll tell you how to fix it)

If you're going to use ASCII art on the www you need to specify a monospace font. Wrap some |FONT="Courier"| |/FONT| tags around your signature. Without them you just have a mess of characters.

I'm glad the downforce: drag relationship has been improved, but the patch offers little else.

I had hoped for a significant suspension physics improvement to go with the ride height fix, but honestly I don't think the ride height fix has gone far enough, let alone anything else.

I should say that there are a few things in gt5 (smoke and body movement primarily) which annoy me, and until a patch fixes every one of those few things, I will never be completely happy with it.

Found a bug. Every so often when you switch the track when you get back on you will have no sound besides the crowd.
Then you can drive for a few but after about 30 seconds to a minute your game will freeze and you will have to quit.

I tried recording this but by the time I got my phone ready I was frozen with the last controller input i pressed.

Some of my friends said this has happened last night a few times after the update

It's not fixed. But at least now a car with minimal downforce and a normal setting is faster than nose up with maximal downforce.

Glad the tyres have been sorted though I wish they would just make their mind up as it is so annoying for those of us that run big leagues as it messes with all of the testing we have to do for events.

I've just done a tyre test in the premium Jaguar LM winner in the Indianapolis 500 Endurance Hall race.

Car is totally stock, soft race tyres 29 laps using 76 litres of fuel, started doing 41 second laps, reduced to 42 as I started lifting for turns one and three.

I switched to hard race tyres and I was able to run the fuel tank dry as I approached the pit lane on lap 70 with a good one third of rubber left on my worst worn tyres.

This time out I was doing 43 second laps lifting for turns one and three right from the start which became 44 seconds when I started lifting for all four to try and get some more milage from the tyres.

Nice... so the different tire compounds actually have different wear rates! That's unheard of in the GT universe. 💡

Yeah, if that is the case then this is big news. Now I can actually see myself doing an online endurance.

I'm a drifter on GT5 since the release date and here is what I think of the update. The clutch is actually worse, it has no bite... You can't shift up at high revs, therefore while the revs drop your car straightens out from a slide. But the other changes are pretty nice, the cars understeer less and overall they are more of a joy to drift. Other stuff I noticed is that the environment sounds are louder, wind, tire sound etc.
