Update 2.08 Now Available with Big Changes!

I'm a drifter on GT5 since the release date and here is what I think of the update. The clutch is actually worse, it has no bite... You can't shift up at high revs, therefore while the revs drop your car straightens out from a slide. But the other changes are pretty nice, the cars understeer less and overall they are more of a joy to drift. Other stuff I noticed is that the environment sounds are louder, wind, tire sound etc.

What's that about the Flyin' Miata thing in your sig?

Is/was the Download ridiculously slow for anyone else? PSN is lagging and slow as hell and it's saying the download will take 280 minutes for 227mb...

Downloaded and installed within five minutes so I don't have reason to complain.

Try around midnight, the download speeds should be up to par by then. That's what I did.

Yeah when i did it last night no joke it took me about 1 and a half minutes. I absolutely love my internet

227mb should take around 45 minutes for me, but i've tried everything and it's still slow as hell. It's now saying 500+
:/ I want that god damn HSV.
Lowest i've gotten is 110 88 minutes before it shoots back to 500.

So, I've just taken the new BRZ for a spin in an online lobby on La Sarthe. PD have definitely done something with the wind noise. I found it to be louder, but also more realistic. At high speeds, the BRZ was rather quiet, but in cockpit view, the wind noise really added to the sensation of speed; I like it!

Does it understeer more compared to it's cousins?

It really does handle differently. It's different enough to warrant the 1 dollar they charge for it. Compared to the Toyota twins, the BRZ is much more neutral, and I've yet to find any under or oversteer. It's very grippy on standard Sports Hards, but it's still fun to drive. It's an interesting contrast to the Toyotas.

Nice... so the different tire compounds actually have different wear rates! That's unheard of in the GT universe. 💡

Awesome this is going to make my endurance club that much better! I can't wait to see how this will go Saturday night for our race, since we use both RH and RM tires.:)

Thanks for the info Doog.👍

BRZ here I come!

Upon further testing, the BRZ does have some oversteer, but only on corner exit. It begins oversteering when the power comes on late in the RPMs, but again, it's much more neutral than the Toyotas.

He means the FR-S and the GT86 are easy to spin at that turn, but it's mostly due to physics of the engine than the cars themselves.

Or at least that's what I got out of that.

Huh? It's been like that for months, maybe close to a year by now(and I think in every other of the 4 other GT games I've played). Of course in typical PD fashion they screwed it up by making them all wear so fast when they did add it. Although you could probably argue that that actually made race softs more believable.

Or did I miss something somewhere in reading that?

Anyway, nice to see that they last longer now. Should make longer races a bit more enjoyable, but it might also cause problems since it sounds like the tires wiill always last longer than a full fuel load in most cars(I never use anything above race hards unless there's a specific reason to). That could wind up almost putting us back to square one with tires being nothing but a pure difficulty selector offline with no ability to really use any different strategies. Then again, PD has pretty much made sure that there never was any actual advantage to using a harder compound.

It might change online racing a bit if the tires last longer so there is more time for a longer stint to play out and not being able to fuel for a full stint in less time than it takes to change tires... but longer stints will mean most races don't have pit stops anymore and with the rest of the tire grip and wear characteristics likely still the same, it will probably still be a simple equation of "softer tire = faster overall" outside of a small race-duration window.

Too bad I just finished all of the A-Spec endurance races, mostly with the superquick degradation.

The only real way to appreciate the added life span of the hard tires is to either go easy on the throttle, or reduce power to save fuel.

Anyone know whats changed with how the ride height adjustment now works?

Pretty much the amount your car can be lowered and raised has been increased. And the handling of the cars are more grippy

I did think that maybe PD were going to change the front and back settings around so that lowering the nose made the car more pointy ( aka closer to real life ) rather than producing more understeer, guess i was wrong !! , ill have to go have a play tomorow.

I got two hours on one set of tires @ Tsukuba in the 4 Hour, teflonicus. Please compare & state which compounds you use & car.

Tsukuba 9hr HPA Audi Twin Turbo +oil, new wheels, and low-rev (1) turbo upgrade.

(Front tyres, rear tyres)

First stint: RS RS: lap 33
2nd: RM RS: lap 73

Front tyres wearing much quicker than rear (even with RM front, RS rear. Will try RH, RS next followed by sets of same compounds for both front and rear.)

More stints later today.

All I got to say is I wont be doing no more than 2 race series a week since there are way more different setups to run. Practice will take forever now. To induce pitting for 100km to 150km races we'll have to run Racing Softs now. I'm just happy it's more realistic now!

I have a bug, I am having frameskips on all tracks I have tried playing, and my tv display is reading out 1080p 58hz, it used to read out at 60hz, may anyone please suggest something? I have decreased my ps3's display settings to 720p, and it fixes the problem, but I never had this problem before. It always read out at 1080p and 60hz. I would like to go back to using 1080p it looked a lot better.

I just did some run in GT5 with the new DLC cars, 1080p 60Hz, Samsung LCD, no frame skipping at all, I did some rain races in arcade mode at Monza and Nurb, everything works fine, and it does have 1080p 60Hz when I pressed info on the remote. It might be tv issues ...:nervous: try to disable all post processing on the tv like dynamic image enhancements, edge sharp, motion enhance, digital noise reduction if they are enabled.

Update is complete ****. Cars have way too much grip its a need for speed game now. Last GT i ever buy

That's a laugh. Run the HSV or any SuperGT with appropriate power (around 540hp) at a track they run (like Fuji or Suzuka). You'll see the times are much slower than real life (especially on racing hards). Just FYI- Times at Fuji are in the 1:35's on a consistent basis. Times at Suzuka are in the 1:54's on a consistent basis. The lap record at Fuji is in the 1:32's. And at Suzuka it's in the 1:49's. See if you can match those with the tires you say have too much grip.
