Has anyone tried this weeks combo? I really like the track with these cars. My lap times are close with both cars, albeit the BMW is on Semi-slicks and the Ford on street 90's. Anyone else have thoughts? I was going to do a 30 lap race on Sunday @ 2:30 EST.
Like the cars, but not the venue sorry.:(

I dig the track, very different and fun hooning about on public streets. I'm not sure if I'll make it, I'm helping someone move but we're starting early so hopefully I can be there.

I'll take a pass on the car and the track...

I wish the club was called the 'Vintage Racing Car Club'. We have access to a few really great racing cars -- L49, Cobra s/c, Cobra competition, 1957 Aston Martin (not as good as the Cobras but still pretty good), 787B, 1975 Ferrari F-1 car. The old Maserati would be pretty good too if it wasn't for the dark windshield. Each car is worth a few weeks of racing as they all require time to drive well.

Solitude and Albi were great tracks to race on. Nordschleife and Longford '67 could possibly be good for racing. I think they're worth a try. Spa is always great for racing and I see that someone is working on an Imola '88.

Does anyone know if the Aston etc are ripped content or not? I like the idea of those cars, but fear the models themselves are ripped content.
I would love to have a vintage formula Vee or formula Ford mod.

I found the 1959 Aston (had the year wrong) on the Steam site if that means anything http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=344776913

The 1957 Maserati looks kind of suspect and it has that windshield problem. http://drillsgt98th0.wix.com/actemp#!cars-2/ccqa

Yeah, some vintage cars in the lower formulas would be cool if done well but those Cobras and the L49 alone would keep me happy for quite awhile. In my opinion those cars just feel like how I imagine the real cars to would drive and I bet they would keep us entertained for a lot of races.

 Link? Although my childhood hero lost his life there, i think racing on the old imola with the original Tamburello up to the old Villeneuve corner should be exhilarating.

Don't forget goodwood thats another fast and fun track.

Thanks Mr. Dazur 👍 Since Goodwood is from the Race Dept. site doesn't that mean it's legit? I'm not sure about the other track. I don't really know how to verify whether a mod is OK or not.

I tried out a couple of the sporstcars on the Smallblock site and wasn't impressed. I also tried a couple of his F-1 cars and couldn't get them to work -- hopping off the ground and no steering...

If it's on RaceDepartment or AC forums it should be legit. Occasionally "illegal" ones pop up but they both yank them pretty quick. Read the reviews, they'll say if it's legit. And a rule of thumb, if it's been on there a week or more without getting yanked it should be good.

I had the same problem. I was reeeeeealllllly looking forward to the Matra, but once the pit screen loads up the car is a foot off the ground for a second or two, then it drops down and bounces back up. I have no idea what to do with that so I just exited and gave up:ouch:

@Tim -- I tried the Brabham and the Matra but no go. And the Ferrari 312 ('75 F-1 car) in AC sounds like a sewing machine for some reason.

@Willfred and Cote Dazur -- Goodwood's a blast -- old time track but short and wide. I'm sure it would provide really good racing as would Oulton. And I agree that Lomgford would probably not be the greatest to race on but i enjoy its 'atmosphere'.

I think longford 67 is awesome in a car like the 49 or the Cobra. There is little forgiveness in the track and it takes nerve to go fast.

This is a track conversion done right. Even better a whole series of '88 season tracks will be coming. Combine these tracks with the Dtm version of this mod and Kunos' BMW M3 E30 Dtm. and we have the seeds of a Vintage touring car series.

I love the BMW M3 E30 Dtm. If you guys decide to race that- esp. with the 88 tracks, count me in!

I am horrible at Nords (TBH, it bores me) but I am watching this thread and when you have a Monday race when I can attend, i'll be all over it. I love historic car racing, in a lot of ways it's more interesting and more challenging than modern cars.

We've been running mini's on Mondays but. . . I was going to try running the DTM cars (the BMW and the Ford rs500 )on some different track the next few weeks though.

VSCR did a race at Donington with that car and I loved it. Most other people in the race had issues with the car and generally didn't like it. But that was one of the best AC cars I have driven yet.

Ford Sierra Cosworth DTM at Hockenheim '88 DTM. Where are those BMWs? Details and download links in second post of this thread. Race Sunday and/or Monday. Interested? Post which day and what time(s) work best.

Do you always run with the 5 sec off track penalty enabled or is it enabled by mistake? I went on and did a few laps with the BMW earlier. The old DTM track is really short!

It is short. I've had a couple good races this week. I run real close laptimes with both cars .

Both are converted from Forza 4. If you care...
