This is a great thread.
Some great looking tunes from what I have read.
I'll be trying these out on my cars tonight.

I always have a little tinker with the suspension when I get a car but never to this extent.

Thanks for such a clear and well laid out thread.

Thanks, let me know what you think. Tuning is very much a dark art, what is great for one person will be awful for another.
Its all about finding the right medium so all feedback is needed 👍

That evo tune's not to shabby on the escort cosworth rally car either on tarmac :)

Any chance you could see if you can come up with one for the M3 GTR?

Good to know! I have a revision for the Evo tune I need to post....
Theres a M3 GTR in the online UCD, so I may well be doing that soon 👍

I'm not an amazing racer but will let you know what I think mate.

I will be buying the "other" Lotus now.
I have an RM 111 but really like the look of the '96 RM

Do you have any tuning tips for FF cars.
I'm entering a small Hot hatch cup with friends.
If you know of anything that works well on these or can recommend a car capable of around 400bhp that would be a great help.

I have a tuned Golf Mk5 GTI, it has 340Bhp but handles really well...the tunes not finalised, I can PM you it if you wish?
Would be a good test I guess

yeah...I just picked up that M3 GTR Road Car...please do tune!

I will see what I can do mate 👍
Out of interest, have you tried any of my tunes so far? Im a real perfectionist and any feedback will help me adjust and fine tweak the tune to perfection!

The Elise 111R is an awesome car. I'm currently doing the 4-hr Endurance on Nurburgring, and this thing is smoking everyone, even though they have twice the HP.

Yeh I love that about the elise, it humbles so many cars!
Glad you like it :dopey:

Will the Viper tune work on the ACR?
I really dig the EVO very balanced.

Quite possibly!
Theroretically it should, but I beleive the ACR has more power and either more or less weight, so would probably need fine tuning.
In any case it would be a good starting point.

If you could PM the golf details that would be brilliant.
Thanks for your help.

I'll test and let you know.

Cheers

Well your lotus 111 tune just knocked 2.196 second of my best lap round cote d'Azure on my dirt outing with it.

I'm using a non race modified versio an race hat Tyres and this tune still worked really well.
It's still a little tail happy coming out of the bend but I guess I don't have the down force or the grip you get from RM and soft Tyres.

Really impressed with this mate.

I tried your 111 tune on the Nürburgring for the 4 Hr enduro. Let me say first, I was very impressed by the grip of the car and its steadiness. I could rape the Elise in the corners at full force, your setup made it amazingly easy to control. Driving the Hatzenbach, Arenberg, Adenauer Forest and Kallenhard sections with this tune was absolute pure porn.

The only downside imo is the lack of top speed for the further sections of the ring. While I was able to gain 3 secs over my best lap with the standard tune at Bergwerk, I kept losing all the benefit of your tune in the faster sections - Kesselchen, Pflanzgarten II and the long straight before the line. The power loss due to dirty oil made things a bit worse.

All in all, this is a good tune but I think for the ring it probably needs some tweaks with the aero and the tranny could be narrowed down a notch or 2. Well if you have any suggestion I'd like your advice for this track.

Thanks for sharing your tunes mate, keep the good stuff going 👍

Thats a tricky one, if you lower the downforce say 5 clicks, it will give a higher top speed but will effect the handling, perhaps not to badly though.
On the ring you could get away with a slightly softer spring and damper rate also.
Problem is the <400hp shows itself in the fast sections, and theres not much that can be done about that :nervous:
You just have to go faster through the twistys! lol

The only issues I did run into, are a loss of control on hard braking. This only really occurred in the first corner of the track, after the high speed straightaway. The second issue, was a slight tendency for the back end to jump out, on the exit, of higher speed, tighter corners,..
@MadMike, I tried out this tune at Nurgburgring. Overall I am very happy with it. I had only two problems, but I was able to quite easily drive around them. They were the same as Adrenaline quoted above.

If we accept that there is no such thing as a perfect tune, then leave things as they are, if you can overcome the oversteer
on hard braking then fine, but I would rather have that and adapt, than lose out elsewhere. Good work.

EDIT: please note I have only just read the previous post (after posting the above). As a former Elise owner I have always accepted a lower top speed because of the amazing handling.

Lotus 111R, Won the first HSRL race with these settings. . . a lil tweaking to get my driving style to fit. Very nice base settings and possible the perfect for many.

Good job

Hey just wanted to say the pictures you added really add a new dimension to your tunes, I'm a sucker for eye candy. Good work, I'll have to try some of these Lotus tunes out because I'm a huge fan!

Quick question---the only problem area I've seen for the Elise 111R is banked corners. Going around the cape ring loop shouldn't seem treacherous, but I was wiping out online. Any adjustments you can think of for tracks that have long banks? The problem was oversteer.

Increasing the rear camber to 3, and rear toe to poistive 25 should stablise it on banked corners, also setting the brake bias one point higher on the rear should help.

OK, so with the Elise 111R RM tune. I've been going back and forth between your tune and TeamLotus' tune.

TeamLotus tune seems more relaxed and easier to get consistent lap times. Although I still find I can get better lap times with your tune, but at the risk of wiping out if I push it too hard. Basically, she's a handful and I have to be really careful when racing online because I can go from the front to back of the pack in a instant.

I love your tune, I really do. But there's just something about the TeamLotus one that has me going back to it every now and then. I wish I knew what it was. Ultimately, I find yours the better handler, I can just point her in the direction and she goes ... it's just exiting if I'm not "just right" on the throttle she starts drifting and while it's easy to recover from, it does lose time.

I wish I understood tuning better so I could explain myself. Right now, you're tune is is about 90% perfect for me. I just need to figure out what I need to tweak to get that extra 10%

Either way, thanks so much for you efforts!

Oh. I tried your prototype tune on my maxed out Golf GTI. She handles much better than what I had done to it, but I was wondering what I should do to it to stop it understeering so much under acceleration? Or is that just a limitation of the car?

Hi, thanks for your comments!
In regards to the elise 111R I would suggest making the front camber 1.5, and the Rear Camber 2.2.
This should help stablise the back on exit.
If its still not quite there try adding more Positive Toe on the rear wheels.
I hope this helps 👍

As for the golf, its still being worked on :sly:

Wanted to say that I'm using your Viper GTS tune (with a few tweaks - I didn't do full weight redux or power) and it's working great for me. Car handles fairly neutral, with stellar turn-in and an oh-so-mild push on exit. Inadvertently I discovered it makes a pretty decent drifting tune on sports tires too, hehehe.

Thanks for the awsome Evora tune!! I've been trying forever to beat my friend's track times in his NSX Type-R and I'm really close to doing it with your help, thanks!

Madmike, any chance of an online tune for the Elise 111RM ? I was online last night but the car was very floaty (for an Elise) and I was suffering from understeer at each corner. This surprised me as I was hoping to do much better against the higher powered oppositon. I am going to buy another Elise 111RM and have a play with settings myself but I suck at tuning.

Thanks

Im glad you like it mate, the turn-in on that car is almost magical lol

Yeh the Evora is under-rated I think, I have had some real good races and put in some awesome laptimes with it.

Im glad you like it mate 👍

Im working on a online tune for all the cars that have noticably different handling compaired to offline.
I must be honest though, to me the Elise handles the same offline as it does offline, perhaps with just a hint more oversteer online.
It may just be a difference in driving style maybe?

Nonetheless, I will see what I can do mate 👍
