As far as I can see he was asked to be released from his contract I'm getting an alonso type image where he thinks there will be something greener on the other side.

Firstly, Reynolds is out of contract. Second, throughout the season, especially since the start of the season, Reynolds' 2016 wasn't guaranteed. PRA "said" they will decide by his performance this season. http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/championship/reynolds-driving-for-his-career
Third, he knocked back BJR's offer as he felt he proved he can race up the front consistently. Especially, since he asked Skaife for help. All smoke by PRA. "Watersboy" was getting that seat.

I doubt it is much to do with Reynolds and more a long term view for the future, Mostert has shown alot of speed this year to prove he is likely safe hands to be the lead driver very soon, and Waters is likely to cover frosty.

they probably tried to get a waters a seat on the grid in a non PRA car at first but when that became impossible they did this.

If you go through the history of the driver market in V8s you will see the top drivers don't move around much if at All so this can secure that front for the forseable future.
No doubt. Pye proved he is worthy of the #17 and Coulthard pretty much locked out any opportunity for Waters to drive an other a Ford. Plus, SBR want NZ drivers. So, that wasn't going to happen. Dave had to go.

I wouldn't mind seeing some TRD Camrys in (V8)Supecars. Those NZ SuperTourer Toyotas are alright.

Just watched the races. Crap luck for Lowdes, that was a scary moment :scared: with the tire.

Good battle at the end there too, great fight by Reynolds 👍. Good drive by Giz too.

Edit:
At the end of the podium for the 2nd race, the announcer, talking about Reynolds' first win on the Gold Coast, said, "Back when they were mucking around with pot plants..." What what what?

he dropped pot plants from the podium and then hit canto between the legs with a mallet.

And there was the time he drank champagne out of his racing boot.

He has some ... weird antics of the podium.

Caruso to the top.

WOW! PYE 3RD! McLaughlin what a lap. Exciting finish to qualy.

Nissan fantastic qualifying.

Good stuff all around except for Whincup P2.....booo. Hopefully he makes a mistake. Would be nice to see McLaughlin, Pye, Caruso, Moffat, Reynolds up there mixing it up for the win.

 I don't mind seeing Whincup do well now that he's out of contention, but yeah hopefully a kiwi can win today.

Was waiting to see the Holden votes tick over to 200. Congrats to Holden supporters in gtplanet.

Whincup's out of the championship, so as much as seeing him win is annoying, it could be a blessing in disguise. He's out of position relative to the championship challengers, so he has little ability to affect the title fight. He will want to get out front and stay there; he won't drive for Lowndes benefit (and even if he tried to, I doubt Lowndes would want his help).

Pye almost stalled it. Caruso moved over a bit. A little messy but, Moffat hanging in there.

Geez. Well, Pye can come in front of Giz.

Are V8's the only series in the world that stacks drivers on pit lane? Honestly one of the very few things I hate about this series.

Even when fighting for the championship Lowndes still gets stacked, not blaming then since Whincup is obviously in the lead, just find it funny

Coulthard needs to give his spot back. You can't block then shortcut the track.

EDIT- And he has.

This has to be one of the best tracks. Watching cars over the bumps make this worth it.

That's the only one I could think might do it as well. In any case, something needs to change. Can't keep doing this especially if they want to expand the field.
The problem is that they're limited by the size of the facilities. Having enough room for two cars might sound nice, but it would mean doubling the garage space, and in some cases - particularly Barbagallo - there isn't enough space.

I'd go with closing pit lane. Just wish they had the facilities like NASCAR. Even some of the short tracks have enough booms.
