In other news... Owen replaces Waters for the rest of the season(DVS that is).
No. Owens is just subbing for Waters at the Sydney 500, not Phillip Island as well, so Waters can focus on his Dunlop Series race (at Sydney).

I would have liked to see someone else in it, but I do think Owens could give Winterbottom a run for his money. But I do feel Team Orders will squash that opportunity.

A real shame the Falcon wasn't reborn in the states. I just wonder what would have happened if the Falcon went over when the SS did.

Also, watching thy '06 PI race. Good looking cars. Bring back the 5-spoke OZ wheels.

Hmm. I didn't know Detroit Diesel is owned by Mercedes. Penske ever run ilmor engines?
Diesel C-Klasse AMGs on the grid in 2017. Could happen.

I remember when I was younger, ilmor made Mercedes engines in Indy and F1.
Mercedes ended up buying Ilmor completely and renamed it after Morgan died, and then Roger Penske formed a new ilmor company with Illien a few years after called Ilmor engineering, so technically its different from the original but not entirely, but this one has nothing to do with Mercedes.

Yeah, I thought Super cheap was going to Frosty after early speculation. I guess Super cheap need the young ones to get in their stores as well. Question is: Do today's youth drink so much soda?
Very true, but with Pepsi's whole "Live for Now" slogans and the emphasis on getting out there and living, a guy Chaz's age would be more inclined to do that. Likewise, Supercheap's target audience would be a guy like Frosty (mid-30s with kids). But regardless, I don't think either company would mind who is representing them when both cars will be up the front

To be honest I don't think I would have done quite well, like how the SS isn't doing overly well. Selling cars, but more of a novelty than a serious option for a 4 Door sedan. FWD and more efficient is the way to go nowadays.

I won't argue that but, the Falcon in NASCAR may have been a win for sure.

It makes sense for Mostert to get the SCAR backing - he's got a bigger media profile than Slade.

Yep, pretty much what SPTOOLS did. No more Giz and languishing in last by an unknown driver, killed them that year.

How cool is this for TCM. From the Touring Car Masters FB page

Toowoomba driver Royston Evans and his remarkable 1966 Pontiac GTO Trans Am entry joins the Touring Car Masters this weekend at the Rare Spares Phillip Island Trophy.

The GTO is a genuine NASCAR Grand National racer and was built by US legend Bobby Allison for the 1966 season – racing in 34 of the 50 races. It was later converted to a late model car with the assistance of Trans-Am legend Smokey Yunick and continues to run a tribute livery to both cars.

Photo with thanks to our friends over at Australian Trans-Am!

Caught that GTO at the muscle car masters this year. Absolutely gorgeous. Going to be awesome to see it competing in TCM. 👍

That's some really big news, and good news at that, for Erebus. Getting Canto in to do some laps as a possible preparation for the Enduro Cup next year, and helping them with setup, great call by Erebus. Will Davison will need to step up massively to avoid being beat by Canto.
For sure. Canto has arguably been the most consistent co-driver since he started with Dave so this will hopefully move Erebus forward

 what does this all mean?

Should be awesome feedback for Can to to relay to Reynolds. Plus, Can to can probably compare the FG X and let Erebus engineers know what to focus on.

Super Black Racing has benched Andre Heimgartner for Phillip Island and Chris Pither will take over driving duties for the #111

I've got a sneaking suspicion that HRT will be running a retro livery at Phillip Island...

Would love to see them run another retro livery, no doubt. :embarrassed: But what makes you say that?

Facebook posts HRT have made on their page. They seem to be hiding the livery as much as possible with the car cover. But HRT have responded to the query brought up by someone in the comments and have said it's their "normal livery".

I'm not buying it though... Something is going on there.

Oh okay, I just saw the same image on their twitter. Certainly seems like they might be hiding something but I'd like to think they would have hyped it a little this week, if they were doing a retro livery. Who knows though?

HRT Facebook page replied to a comment asking about a special livery. They replied saying it's just the normal livery this weekend.
