I'm a little confused/curious about one of those images.
The new tail-light shot seems weird.

What we've seen so far under the sheet, and a Design Vision GTI.

So how does this low black spoiler just above the tail-lights fit in?

I could see this machine releasing this month.

I highly doubt it. It's only April and the Worthersee show isn't until May 13th which is where the GTI SS will almost certainly be shown. They pulled this same stunt with the GTI Roadster last year.

It goes from just over the tail-lights right up to the (chopped) roof line. You can see the lip spoiler in the top left.
Yeh, I guess it has to be.
Perhaps it's just the angle of the shot making it look weird.

I have a mate that likes VR6's too much. If this car sounds like a VR6 with AES , I'm pretty sure he will go nuts

The third image isn't the VGT2

The third image isn't the VGT2, but it seems to be the car that will inspire said VGT. If you look closely at the new teaser pictures, they have a resemblance to the Design Vision GTI concept...
Yes but the question was...

When he was looking at the rear of the... forgot it's name but that concept golf thing, and comparing it to teasers thinking the concept golf thing was the VGT.

The "concept Golf thing" is the DVGTI (a simplification of Design Vision GTI), that will make it easier to say. And yes, the DVGTI is not the second Volkswagen VGT project, but what Aussie was asking was if the VGT is based off the DVGTI, how would that rear wing fit with the DVGTI's design. He wasn't necessarly implying that they were both the same car, I think.

Even if they are, they'll have thought about how to put the wing on. Might even use suction cups... god I miss that from the GT5 Lantis.

Of course, it is Volkswagen's own design after all, they'll know how to add the extra aero bits properly (or so I hope, at least).

Interior or no interior? Place your bets!

I'm going with no interior...

My bets are with the "no interior" crew; having a roof is a death bell for modeled interiors, for 99,9% of VGT cars (with the 0,1 percent belonging to the Chaparral 2X).

The textures from the teaser pics are looking good. Paint looks like it's a matte metallic grey, the carbon fibre and plastic is looking clean. Maybe they bumped up things a little? Then maybe it will be dumbed down for the PS3?

It's up there with the Driveclub models with Adaptive Tessellation in my eyes. Gonna have to bet on no interior with this one. If does come with one though, then ummm.... I'll be really surprised...

I'm gonna take a guess and say this is a full scale model which is ready for Worthesee, rather than an in-game model.

I'm going to take a different guess and say that like last year's GTI Roadster VGT, the Design Vision GTI and W12-650 concepts, it'll be functional in some way or another.

And I'm going to throw my own guess into the fray and say that it is a virtual 3D render; not done by PD, but by Volkswagen themselves. And that will eventually become a real-size, real-life scale model, for it to be shown in Worthesee.

The car in the teasers is probably a 3D render. Most likely the same model used in the video teasers.

While I agree that the new VW car will have no interior, I don't think the Chaparral could be considered a closed cockpit car. I'd say it's an open cockpit with an integrated helmet, since there's nothing that covers the whole cockpit, as the helmet only protects the driver's head (obviously).

Well, yes, that is true. You can't really place the Chaparral in any of the two types of cars; you can't call it a fully-closed car because of the whole "car as a wing" concept, and you can't quite call it a open-top car because, well, it isn't a convertible without a roof...
