Great thread but I couldn't find what member # I would be.

I miss the Volvo S40 Touring car in the game - one of the most famous racing variants. (http://freespace.virgin.net/tjl.thegrove/btcc9804.jpg) And of course the Amazon.

Personally I own a Volvo 940 Sedan -95. The last "real Volvo" with rear wheel drive and simple yet reliable mechanics and massive dimensions.

I grew up in an Amazon and later a rusty 140 Wagon. Our german friends insisted on calling it Panzerwagen. Even customized cars like these are very common here in Sweden - despite their poor performance. You might enjoy this...

I quite like the look of the S60s, although for some reason they're generally more expensive 2nd hand than S80s here :irked: Nearly all big Volvos have headlamp wipers from what I've seen :)

Think I'll probably get a 940 Turbo, hopefully the biggest one with according to Parkers has 190BHP! Still I'll keep my eyes out for others like one I saw yesterday but it had already sold :guilty:

Hmm - US's biggest 940 Turbo had just 162 horsepower; the 960 was closer to the 190 figure but never actually achieved it (and it wasn't turbocharged either).

Yeah to be honest I'm abit doubtful, Parkers list them as follows:

940:
2.0 = 111BHP
2.0 Turbo = 155BHP
2.3 = 130BHP
2.3 16v = 155BHP
2.3 LPT = 135BHP (Does this turbo even do anything
2.3 HPT = 165BHP
2.3 Turbo = 190BHP The only variants it lists are 2.3 Turbo and 2.3 Turbo GLE

The thought of a 190BHP RWD 940 :D

oooh, here is an interior shot of the s60. Mmmmm....leathery goodness.....

also...look what i bought back from my buddy (my old 740)....am i crazy or stupid!?! thouht i might use it as a daily driver since its great on gas....but the first night I park it on the street in front of my house, some jerk drives to close to it and beaks the driver side mirror off and scratches up the front fender! 👎 :grumpy:

 a 740 good on gas? Well maybe in America :) Sorry to hear about the damage.

An update on the 940 turbo with claimed 190BHP, I think its possible as I found some other sources which stated that they also have 190BHP and that the 740 turbo had up to around 180BHP.

And by the look of it the 3.0 litre 960 broke the 200BHP barrier.

grrrrr! Well I found the kid who hit my car....at least I think I did, because it was my driver side mirror that was hit, and i found light blue paint and the fender....and the kids car has the passenger side morror busted out...and its light blue!! I will most likley confront him about it come Tuesday (busy installing some alpine type-X speakers in my t6 tomorrow!) but yeah, the mirror is gonna cost me 250$ for used parts :nervous: and i just found out I have to replace the front rotors (another 400$ at least) because of some major warping going on...oh well, just money i suppose..... :indiff:

Just found this. Count me in!
I used to work as a porter at a Volvo dealer, and have driven many Volvo's. Love them (though I do drive a Saturn)!
cool, welcome to the club :)

oh, and i'm guessing the saturn you drive is a Vue? is it the 6cyl?

04Vuesilver
Hehe, how'd you guess? Bet you don't know what color it is :sly: It is a fwd V6 (Honda 3.5L) with 250hp

I'm not usually not a big fan of saturn, But the V6 Vue is pretty damn fast, total sleeper 👍
I bet you can probably get those tires spinning nicely with all that power going to the front weels, I know I can, I have over 320hp going to the fronts in my volvo...it can get a little crazy without traction control...(wish I had RWD)

( p.s. ....is your car silver maybe? possibly an 04? )

When you say without traction control, do you mean with it turned off? As I thought all T5s (and I assume T6s) came with it as standard. Unlike my bros 850 2.5 20v GLT

Yeah, its standard on most newer volvos (if not all) and even bone stock the t6 needs it, you can just light those tires up. I just find it fun to switch it off every so often

The new S80 T6 does need TC. When I used to drive the one we had as a loaner around, I'd sure as hell beat on it. While going 20mph, if you floored it, the tires would just yell out loud before rocketing forward. Fun car! :dopey:

Yes, my Saturn is a silver 04, has standard traction control, but I can turn that off by putting the gear selector in L (has P R N D I L). Haven't done it myself, but I hear it will ROAST the tires this way. Spins em easily in D, with about 3/4 throttle, before the tc kicks in.

Why you selling it?

It was planned since this winter for a few reasons: we currently have two cars, but only use one so it's a waste of money, we tried to get rid of my girlfriend's car, but it's a lease for a... Hyundai Accent GSi, that she signed for 2 months before we got togheter  :grumpy:.

Since her car as a craptacular resale value, it would cost a lot to break the lease, so we're sorta stucked with it. I left a full time job to start a project on my own in January, so budget is kinda tight for the beginning, and I can sell the T5 for a good profit, so it was the reasonable decision to make.:indiff:

On the positive side, an Accent makes you feel you're going fast when in fact you're not, and that's the exact opposite with the T5, so no more worry about speeding tickets, and we get much better mileage. Actually it's a manual and driving in town isn't that bad. If things go as planned we'll be hunting for a good deal on something better in a few months.

Don't blame ya. What's the asking price, or is someone looking at it already?

Not yet, I've placed some ads yesterday.

I'm asking 11000$ CA for it, which is a great deal, even more considering it has 2 new sets of tires and new brakes, and 130 000km (not miles!)

That kinda sucks you have to sell it, I was sad when I sold my 95 850 turbo, even though I had my S80, they are such great cars...oh well, good luck on selling it :)

Hello Volvo fans,

I have a set of Allessio Turbo's (Italian Wheel Company) in 17x7.5 ET35 5x108 for sale. They have been used for one season and have a few small stone chips.

They are very nice rims and have a hyper finish to them.

These rims will fit:

All models Volvo ('95+)
240 (74-93)
740 & 760 (82-92)
540 ('95+)

I am asking $750obo for the rims.

Welcome to the club!
I'll add you to the list,
and nice choice on the car 👍 I used to have one, awesome car.
I think M5power still owns his...so if you have any questions, you know who to ask :D

Edit: you can add the link at the start of the thread to your sig if you want.

anyways...thx alot........proud volvo owner :sly:

Hey, welocme to GTP. First, I'd reccomend you read the TOS. You should also read the AUP.

IPD (www.ipdusa.com) is a good volvo performance site, and TurboBricks (turbobricks.com or .net, too lazy to check) has forums that probably help you if you plan to turbocharge it or put a T-5 engine in it (Assuming you have a non-turbo).
