Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

Btw Do you guys cut over the concrete?

I will use the standard GTP online racing rules, which I can link when I am not on my phone. Basically, no wall contact, two wheels on the track/rumbles and no SRF allowed.

To specifically answer, no, I would not cut over the concrete, not completely. Two wheels on it is my norm but if I think I have three up I scrub it as dirty and try again.

Do the Gear ratios work better now?

raVer
Night and day better. I think I set the final gearing first then the individual ratios the first time and they didn't line up at all. I got it right the second go round though.
I watched the video you posted and my lines are very close to yours. I'm using a ds3 and that half throttle to full throttle is very touchy so I lite the tires up and lose acceleration to easily at times. Just having the better gearing through corners makes the car easier to control. My lap times didn't reflect the change very much. Still scratching my head on that one. I do know that I'm able to lap more consistently now. 👍

@ ACSR421
I drive with DS3 too (D-Pad , X and Square for gas and break)
btw this was lap 1 in the video not a real flying lap (your much slower in the beginning) and there was 1 time I was too aggressive on the gas

ACSR421, thanks for the review you put up. It's a good example of how feedback needs to be.

I also have looked on the front page and like the link system. It will be much more driver friendly. I just need my name added to the driver list.

I'm looking forward to testing these cars/tunes. I'm not a great tuner, so I'm hopping to learn some tricks. I'm pretty sure I won't be the fastest, but I will be close to the mark.

If that's what the people want, let it be so, but let's get some more people to voice in.

The GT red flag is garbage. Grass rides wall hits and short cuts are not always flagged. Some Tracks you need to almost try to flag the lap for it to flag, then others flag you for barely anything. If I make a cut that's not flagged I can't finish the lap ahead of my ghost.

It's pretty much the same as the honor system... I would prefer to simply state the rules and trust people to follow, otherwise they may just try to run as many shortcuts as they can get away with and feel fine about it. Hopefully if the honor system is used they will have the honor to Keep in the rules.

Just my opinion.

Alright sorry for my lack of immediate response folks, afraid I took a short nap on all of ya.
1st I'd say any lap time that's green is a good lap time.
Seeing how my alter ego on track is poor Harvey Wallbanger just keeping it green without worrying if that brush against the tunnel wall invalidated my time even though its still green is asking a bit much. (Of course that's why I'm on the tuning side of things and not driving) Don't think there are any green lapable (is that even a word :dopey:) "short cuts" on GVS like there are at Nürburgring and La Sarthe.
2nd my mistake Adrenaline must be not enough sleep and to much caffeine, I'll remove your name from the drivers list...any chance that AdrenaTunes will have an entry on the tuner side instead?
3rd sorry Milldrum thought I had added you to the driver list...I'll be going through the whole thread and trying to make sure everyone who has volunteered to drive is on it.

Personally, I'm good with an 'honour' system. I'll stick to the GTP racing rules, and save a best lap replay of each tune for verification should that be required. Usually if I start driving outside those rules, I'll be so far out that the time won't be better than when sticking to the rules.

1: Sounds good.
2: No... technically.

In all honesty, it really doesn't matter.
As long as the test drivers are consistent from test to test, it doesn't matter what they do or don't cut.
GVS has 3 solid 'short cuts' if you call them that, and 1 potential 'cheap shot' but I don't think the cheap shot works with such slow cars and the 3 short cuts are just concrete run off area's, and driver ability to maximize every inch of surface.

Green/Red laps are just the easiest way to make it 'clear cut' for everyone.
This way people don't have to worry if they have 2 wheels on, or if they made a tiny wall tap, that didn't even help their lap time. Green and Red just makes it a go/no go gauge, and everyone is forced within the same limitations of the game, that are consistent across every PS3. As simple as it gets.

I disagree, I feel the only Track to use is inside the lines, run off area is not included as track, strictly GTP ORL Rules.

However, this is not about my opinion, but what the community wants. I already feel the Testers are going to be fine on the Honor system and won't post times from bad laps if red flagged or not. So it's not even an issue for me, I won't be Driving.

How are you guys Driving? For an FF I'm doing quite a bit of pushing through higher gears.

Example. After turn one and the small left bend there is the uphill S before the downhill to the Hairpin. On that hilly S instead of downshifting to 3rd I brake a bit early and short then push through 4th gear. I come out the S around the same time as I would when I downshift but I'm holding a higher speed on Exit.

I do this for a few other corners also. The LSD is at work like a mofo when doing this but it works.

How you guys getting through the corners FF Style?

It's on my video, i try to drive as clean as possible and generaly it pay. No secrets..

Have to agree with your opinion Assassin, although I think the ultimate call on the rules rests with Desparado as it's his comp.

How goes the mythical 4 door??

Not too bad, 2:02 with errors, haven't had another go at it since this afternoon, I'll try to run a few more laps before I Publish it. Despite me edging out it's fastest lap with my ITR, I'm still going to use it to add diversity and well, a 4DooR.

In case your wondering, it's the CTR FN2.

That reminds me I still need to pick my ride for this. Can say it won't be another Integra.

Sorry balang.
Just trying to ensure that people can't complain about unfair conditions or overly biased test results.
I'm sure we'll get enough discussion about final results as it is.:nervous:

So I'm afraid you'll just have to pick one category.

Tuners are free to drive their car and others, and post times for comparison but those times will be considered benchmarks only and not used to determine the winner.

Understood, no worries. I'll sign up to be a tester then and maybe post up a time as a benchmark like you suggested. Should I sign up in the other thread or is here fine?

I think it can make a big difference with different tunes. Should be uniform, WRS OLR rules are clear-cut enough for me, 2 on pavement or rumbles at all times, no wall.
That said, if I bump a wall that doesn't seem to affect the time, or cut by accident, I try even it out before the laps over, as nobody has time to properly "hotlap" each tune. That would take weeks.
I can get a generally even idea of cars limits within 5-10 laps, to place them evenly for thei respective performance, but some tunes will require more effort than other to achieve a solid lap, (or 3) so I try to make sure they're all on par with what they can do.

Your in the right place balang.
Welcome aboard and consider yourself signed up.:)

What is a CTR FN2. I'll need to buy one so I need to know where to look. Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

I've tried 2 tunes so far. I'm buying a new car for each. Then I'm running the exact same amount. I've decided to do 2 runs for each.(5 laps) That way if I get better or get used to the track more, then noone is advantaged. I'll submit a final result rather than lots of little ones.

Okay Milldrum I already had you on the driver list.
Adrenaline I removed you from the list.
balang_479 I just added you to the driver list.

Anyone I've missed please PM me and I'll add you on.

Sorry, just checked and you are right. I'm not on 'Onboy123's list.

Also, many thanks for organizing this. The only thing that surprises me is that Honda is getting such a good run.

I tried Dodge, Ford & Mazda but Honda did well with the Type-R line, tough to beat, but I'm sure it's doable.

There is one other car that will certainly Do well, I think Adrenalin's been driving one at GVS rather quickly, but I can't be sure.

A street version of the FTO maybe?
