Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

Okay doing a lot of testing here trying to determine my weapon of choice, and from what I'm seeing there is a fairly large number of cars that all perform very close to the same. I think this is going to be a very good test of tuner skills and not some single car that is dominant.

Still looking for that special one that feels right to me.

CeeJ was referring to the competition, not RJ specifically.

The engine is about broke in it seems, up to 491pp now and with some suspension adjustments we're down to 2:01.009 on a 4 lap set.

Unfair advantage by adding a 0 DF Front and Rear aero?
How unfair is it to overuse the Power Limiter?

btw mine is powerlimited by 0.6% ;)

raVer

I thought that the premium model cars with a body kit (front, extension, rear) ,not the wing, would have an advantage over the standard model cars which can only equip the wing nothing else.

mine is power limited to 90 something i think, so maybe i have an advantage i do no know.

thanks
Jack

I'm interested, i'll try to get the wheel out and see if I can tune something to be competitive otherwise I might test.

Finishing up the powertrain of my vehicle and hoping to get a 2:00.xxx spit back at me.

Such low expectations, my goal has always been to break the 2min barrier.
But I suppose with the 10 second cheater's adjustment, yours is more realistic...

Either way, I suppose this means you want me to get off my ass and drive?

As has mine. It'll come with more adjustment, I'm not expecting a full second from gearing and a small bit of power though. :P

Yes.

FF Summer Shootout RULES pending further review here are the challenge rules!
1) Each tuner/garage may submit one FF car tune for the challenge.
2)There is a 500 PP limit on all cars.
3)Ballast and Power Limiter are allowed for cars to meet the PP limit.
4)Sport Soft or lesser tires only.
5)No Race Modified or Race Cars!(and yes race cars includes Rally types!)

Can I get a further detailed description of rule 5?
For instance, 'tuner' cars, would they be allowed? How about concept cars? Things similar to the Amuse S2000, or 350Z cars? (obviously not these 2 as they are RWD, but as examples) or the Spoon CR-Z? Concept cars is self explanatory I assume. I've just been gandering at cars in the UCD and was curious, as these aren't race cars, RM'd or Rally cars, would they be legal participants? Thanks

Also the entire "each tuner/garage may submit one FF car tune for the challenge" thing scares/angers me.

Because I want to satisfyingly kick Roj's arse without having a PS3. :sly:

Adrenaline, I believe in the initial discussions that took place in my garage that tuner cars were permissible as long as the descriptions didn't place them as strictly racing machines. The reason for this is because they limit the amount of modifications a tuner can make to the car and generally have a higher base PP so they are not out of line with the highly modified base model cars. Concept cars were never directly addressed, but again I would say that if it was a concept for a street car and not a racing machine they are permissible.

Rotary_Junkie, I will be making an adjustment to that rule so feel free to kick your partners 🤬!
When writing the rules I was working under the impression that the garages would be working as a team to create the best vehicle. Obviously some garages are set up as a collective for the individual tuners who can be as highly competitive with the fellow members of their own garage as they are with other tuners.
So the rule will be changed to read as follows:
"Each tuner may submit one car tune for the challenge."

Hope this clarifies things for people and thanks for helping to make this the great event it is turning into.

As Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

Hey, by the way. Nice choice of a car that can be used to earn money hand over fist whilst being broken in.👍

Thanks, I was surprised just how crisp the chassis is. Still haven't built my 3rd edition using the chassis reinforcement yet but I got time to iron it out.

I'm on 1:06 still and Tire Selection has a PP impact. At first I was at 500PP but realized there is a variation on PP, I adjusted it to 515PP but judging by what other Tuners are posting it looks like 500PP is in the 515 to 519 range somewhere. I'll have to get somebody to confirm my Tune is at 500PP.

Giveaway pt. 2.

Anyway 515 sounds abouuuuuut right for S3s. You'll also need someone to check your gearing out thanks to the 1.10 patch which has screwed with the autoset.

Also, 1:06 where? Or do you mean 1.06? Also if you're running the FD2 (not FN2, that's the euro-only hatch ;) ) you should be able to run pretty near max power so long as you're wingless. Meanwhile I get a nice 199kg deficit (provided you're running minimum weight) with exactly zero extra power. Hope ol' fatty can make it up in the corners then.

If there's any way for you to, I suggest going to 1.10. The gearing change is just enough to mess with everything you put out and I get this feeling the weight balance being shown on the ballast screen would be a big help. Reminds me to yell at Adrenaline to tell me how we're sitting on weight balance, I know fully reduced aside from hood and windows was 65:35... ><

Let me know if I can help.

Cool when I get home I'll PM the current specs (adjusted so many times I can't remember). Think I was 331hp @ 1030kg in a ITR, but it's more important for my CTR I can always check through others configurations but want to be precise with the CTR entry.

So……lemme get this straight…RJ and Roj are splitting up for this challenge and each will submit one tune for a car?

No problems. If you're more than half an hour away from home I might be a while responding. It's midnight here and I had a nasty day at work. Not going to last much longer before sleep.

Oh……so the 'Adrenaline Junkie' partnership is back eh? Wow, Roj, I'll be surprised if your car can keep up at all………

It just seems a bit low compared to others running much more power not weighed down as much. I think I saw 340hp something at 999kg. My 331hp @ 1030 (wingless) doesn't seem right ;) I'll have it checked and be sure.

So far gearing hasn't been an issue, but I'll have it checked anyways, seems the problem with 1.10 came post 1.07, but not sure.

Get some rest I started work an hour ago.

The problem with 1.10 came with 1.10. :P They messed with the gearing available for a given top speed setting.

The reason I say this is because I read (not sure exactly where, but it came from PD) that the 1.10 update would only affect transmission settings for trannys tuned after 1.07.

Yes and no... They actually said it wouldn't affect transmissions with individual gear tuning done but that's not the case.

I know what you mean, and see your point. I saw members having issues finding Tuners gear values before 1.10 so that doesn't confirm it for me. Is there anything else you have that could confirm it's also has issues with pre 1.07 gear boxes? Nobodies reported back to me a gear value has been out of range yet from my 1.06 Tuned HKS.

There was a thread about it by I want to say dr_slump a while back. Basically the available gear ranges have changed slightly so those settings with a given gear stretched one way or the other to the max won't be achieved.

Most of the issues you saw with gearing before were due to people using different states of tune on the car rather than an actual issue between game versions.
