Warhawk • The Official Thread

I like to put a mine in an inconspicuous place on a warhawk or jeep and park it right in the middle of the enemy's main base :)
I like to put mines behind walls and other such non-visible places, especially in Destroyed Capital.
So, am I the only one that likes to get into my enemies base/spawn point and plant mines in the doors of buildings? Usually the more powerful weapons are inside buildings so if they spawn outside they can't get to them and if they spawn inside they have to die to play.

My favorite was when I was doing this in a hangar and a guy spawned just as I set one in the "front" door. He began chasing me with his handgun and I backed out the back door and threw one down as I went through. He saw it and stopped, but then I watched him run out the front door without looking. *BOOM*

Im still not very good with the Warhawk. While playing the other day, I ended up in a team deathmatch, "dogfight" I only killed one person, while I died 8 times. Im just an inconsistent player.
Yeah, my flying skills blow. I have gotten to where I avoid dogfighting because I die a lot more than I kill.

Joined a few games with Solid Fro this morning. The only major points I got were team ones because on that server quite a few shots I was making, particularly with the tank, didn't seem to be doing any damage at all - once a vehicle and warhawk was directly hit with a shell on my screen and it done nothing. I only had one kill in that match because of it! I suppose it's due to the high ping I was getting from being on an American server, as it was absolutely fine when I joined a European one afterwards...

Solid Fro's good though. :P

oh I just love when you happen upon a sniper who is so busy picking off targets he doesn't notice you coming up behind him with a knife

I know I'm good. Top player, always. :)

You got me with a grenade, lucky shot!

I also love it when the opposing team makes poorly planned 1 person attacks on the base where they get the flag and realize they have no way out, easy load of points (10 at least, more if you kill the person holding the flag) each time you return the flag 3 feet :sly:

I was reading my latest issue of game informer, and in it, there is a tiny section about the expansion to warhawk. Its supposed to be coming in december, and with it, a new vehicle. If i remember correctly, the name of this new vehicle is the "dropboat". Ill have to double check that though. Apparently, it will alter the gameplay so much that some parts of the maps will be edited to better suit the new vehicle. Im excited what about you guys?

I don't see how it could effect anything but CTF. Hop into the dropship with a few of your buddies and an escape vehicle for the flag carrier.

The game finally ranked me up two ranks to Air Marshal, skipping Captain and Major. I've had at least 5 rank ups since last month. I believe I'm the highest ranking GTP member? :)

Well I dont even know what a "dropship" is, but thats what it said in the magazine. Also, maybe you should first check with G.T before you make that very ambitious statement about ranks. Haha.

I'm still Commander - he's quite a few ranks ahead of me now. I still have no idea how it works them out!

Have you checked today? I just checked and Im at Captain, with only 436 points. I just tried to check your profile, but for some reason, you aren't showing up on my buddy list. My internet has been acting up lately, that might be it.

Warhawk expansion coming soon!

Awesome!

Here is the official word from Dylan Jobe, Game Director for Warhawk, including a response to players who have been padding their stats:

Warhawk v1.1 Patch and Arbiters
Posted on 10/19/2007 by Dylan Jobe // Game Director, Warhawk
Hey everyone, its been awhile since I last made a post here. The team and I have been cranking away on support and updates for Warhawk and I thought it’d be a good idea to give you all an update as to what the hell we’ve been up to.

So … since my last post, we’ve launched Warhawk in South-East Asia, Korea and Japan — which now means our community spans 15 different languages!

We’ve also been working on a lot of fixes, server-side updates and client patches. Because lets face it, while the team and I were really happy with our launch and players around the globe were having a blast playing, there were some problems that players encountered once we rolled the game out to the masses (stats, connection issues, etc). I’m not going to sugar coat that with a strawberry-flavored, pink, PR candy shell – it’s the truth.

All of that said, we have been hard at work to address the big issues that our Warhawk community currently is experiencing. We have already addressed the majority of our stats-related issues with the deployment of a few server-side updates. These were updates that we rolled out “on our end” without any of the players having to download an actual Warhawk patch. These updates also fixed many of the connection issues. But not all.

The remaining core updates have to be delivered as a client-side patch, hence my next topic - the impending global release of our Warhawk v1.1 patch.

Now we actually have been working on 2 patches — but I’ll talk about the second patch in my next post.

The first update, the v1.1 patch, addresses the critical issues with stats and connectivity. Those two points were the focus of this patch and while they may seem small, they had a huge impact on our player base.

The v1.1 patch is in the last stages of testing right now and should be deployed worldwide by the end of October. Here’s a change list for the server-side updates that we’ve already made as well as what’s upcoming in v1.1:

Server-side Updates
  • Stat database stability improvements
  • Improved server stability
  • Max Clan limit changed from 32 to 64
  • Viral Rank-up bug fixed and correct for players that were accidentally ranked up.
  • “Time-in-Vehicle” Stats fixed so certain awards can now be granted properly.
Client-side Updates for Patch v1.1
  • Stat connection, fetch/post fixes
  • Significantly improved client connection stability
  • Quad “????” Ping display bug fixed.
  • Added support for Player-Ranked Servers.
  • Game synchronization fixes due to fluctuating network conditions (packet-drop).
  • Crash fixes for end of game and split screen.
These updates make a huge improvement to the stats and connection issues that some players were experiencing. The team and I know how much of a pisser it is to not get the award your worked for or how frustrating it can be to try and get on to some of the busy, popular servers.

The v1.1 patch makes the world a much happier place … ok, maybe not the world, but at least the Warhawk universe. :)

We are also responding to complaints about wankers that are stat-padding, griefing or just messing with the Warhawk community in general. This is incredibly frustrating for players and we are not taking it lightly!!

A few weeks ago one of our mods made a post on the Warhawk forums letting people know that kind of behavior will not be tolerated. That was just a warning. Now, to protect the Warhawk community and preserve the legitimacy of our worldwide leader boards, I am announcing the existence of the Warhawk Arbiters. These are members of our online services groups in both the US and Europe that will be overseeing the leader boards, community stats and will also be “in the trenches” joining game servers for first-hand observation. Their PSN account names will remain a secret. They have the authority to warn players, call a player out to prove his or her skills, or render judgment … think Judge Dredd.

Judgment can take many forms, an email warning, forum post, a kick, temporary/permanent ban, or the Warhawk Arbiters can request your Warhawk stats be “cleansed.”

There are thousands and thousands of good, well-mannered players. We will not tolerate a small few messing with our global community. So be warned!!

That’s it for now; I’ll be posting again very soon to discuss the v1.2 patch…

As always, Rock on!

The term "dropship" comes from science fiction. It is a transport type craft that carries troops, supplies, and vehicles usually from an orbiting space craft down to the surface of a planet.

Ever played Halo? The Pelican dropships are a good example.

Sweet, I'm the ranking officer, now I can order you guys around!

how are players padding their stats? or is that what they are doing when they set up those stupid ass "no kill" CTF games?

Does this mean I won't be a Major anymore? Oh well, was fun while it lasted, Was kinda messed up and hilarious watching crappy-playing Air Marshals though!

I think this is the kind of thing where people are killing teammates to get the opposing flag for themselves or various other ways to gain quick points while not playing by the intended rules of the game.

The main issue it creates is that people are taking a game intended to encourage team play and then purposely working against their own team to increase their, or their friend's, points.

thats what I figured, good to hear they will be doing something about it 👍
lately I've been seeking these games out in order to annoy them by playing normally :)

As far as I know you have to mash a certain (not going to say) button many several times for it to happen.

Thankfully I've never seen it before.

How many kills is this guy really going to get, a few? If you're a confident player, you can bust this guy's nuts and he won't even be a factor on the killboard.

Is there a trick to getting more combat points than kills? Sometimes I do, but I can't do it consistently because I'm not sure how it works. I already have the normal Combat Medal and the Distinguished Combat Medal, I'm going after the middle one which requires 50 combat points in a game. Surely they don't expect us to get 50 kills in a game to achieve that?

Capture flags and zones. And I think you may get some points for being on a winning team and some more for being in first place on your team.

Definitely Zones. You can rack up 80 or 90 combat points playing only a few games without even firing a shot. It's all about Zones.

Those give you more than just team points? Never noticed that before. I do play Zones a lot, I'll check this out.

EDIT: Thanks, both of you!
