Some nice pictures @IBZ6L20VT and I'm sure a great morning out. I can see an intruder amongst your photos. There's a TVR snuck in and quite a rare one at that. I think Ginetta did run a TVR racing team at one stage.
The G60 is a nice looking machine.

OMG there will be blood for sure. We all need an insurance
30 minutes of avoiding the concrete barriers. I'm not sure we'd get insurance for that. :dopey:

Thanks.

I was surprised to see the TVR on a corner. Didn’t have the chance to ask about it in the rush and excitement of the visit, especially as it was with the new LMP1s. It looked like it was there for some repairs.

I’ve seen a lot of different cars in my life, but as far as I remember, I’ve never seen a G60 in the flesh.

Edit: Actually I checked my original post and noticed a typo, referring to the G40 GT5 as G60. Now is amended.

I think it's possibly a TVR 440R that was maybe ran by Ginetta.
Although Lawrence Tomlinson, the owner of Ginetta, did own a 200mph+ TVR Typhon - one of only 3 ever made. They look quite similar since I think one one developed from the other.

It's a shame that they didn't have a G60 around but all the other hardware on show made up for that. :)

Hi guys, I'm not going to get home in time to practice tonight, and given the daunting car/track combo and my unfamiliarity with both I think it's best if I sit this one out and let one of the reserve guys have my place. I have some family stuff to do too so I think the time would be better spent there than spending an evening ping-ponging off the Armco and generally getting in the way of others!

Will hopefully have time to get some 98T practice in before next week. Have a good one and stay safe on the roads chaps – IRL too for the UK guys!

Stick the full damage on Sick and we'll have the winner as the last man car standing. :mischievous:

Actually, when I ran my lap with damage on, if you went over 12k rpm the engine got damaged. It was very hard to not to damage it, up to the point where after 5/6 laps I was over 10% engine damage.

Quite a delicate engine. Damage on would make an interesting and completely different race.

Sick, I am resigning from your leagues (both). For a reason lets just say I just was not fully ready for the league grind. Practice for this race really wore me out and I just could not get very far into the race. It was fun while it lasted...thanks for letting me back in.
Good luck to everyone...

1:54.880. Quick lap after today’s race. With braver braking a second can be shaved off. With more practice on the last sector and in general in the whole track, lap times can drop more.

All for all a good lap to check my inputs. It’s all about anticipation reading the turbo and checking it against your steering angle (If you ever owned a car with a big, laggy turbo you’d know what I mean). When you manage to control that then the braking becomes important. You can brake later than you think.

Tomorrow I’ll write a few lines about today’s race.

Sorry I missed this week. I logged on a little later than normal (after dozing off!) and when I didn't receive an invite I assumed the room was full. I didn't want to interrupt with a message so I watched a bit of the live action Tavilha and Friday were broadcasting.

I struggled with the car!
It's difficult enough with a wheel so I can imagine trying to control a Lotus 98T with a controller is quite a challenge! Maybe it's too tricky?

Which is the turbo IB?
It's the thing that kicks you in the arse and into the wall. :P
The right dial I think John. After 9000ish revs really.

I once had a Renault 5 turbo, does that count? :)

Sorry to hear you're leaving @Skip7950. Hopefully we'll see you again at some point. Stay well. 👍

Thanks...been fun.

Thanks If have look at that later:tup: Never driven a turbo car in real life.

Hopefully you will get back race again Skip. Last night during qualifying he got some contact.

Just be more careful Harsk, were all trying to have good race and do the best we can. I had some contact during the race as well. You do really well with controller, track and car were hard last night. Next week should be better for you at Hockenheim, a lot faster.

That's a great shame Skip - I have written to you separately to try to change your mind - maybe try Mondays only for now?

Sorry for ruining people's race. I had very terrible race, I struggled with the car! But I can sit out of next race, if needed... :(

I have written to you privately Harsk re driving standards including the need to quickly let faster cars pass while being lapped. You are suspended from next Wednesdays race and your points from this race have been reduced to their pre-collision level.

Who was Harskgaming? Completely ruined what should have been a good session. May as well have raced with a load of randomers.

I apologise for Harsks poor driving yesterday and I'm sorry if it spoilt yours and other peoples enjoyment of the race. He has been suspended from the next race.

Race report:

Excellent qualifying where I got what would be my best possible lap at 1:08.6xx.

Race start wasn't good as usual and @Friday_GTRP got in front until I overtook by the end of the first lap. Then it was a case of concentrating and keeping the car between the walls while keeping the 3-4 seconds gap with Friday, who was very consistent.

Overtaking lapped drivers was a challenge for both parties but in the vast majority of cases it was hassle free.

8 minutes until the end of the race, the game went into the share screen by itself, with my wheel going limp. It took me a few seconds to realise that I needed to press the share button again and cancel the pit stop that was requested as well. By the time I did that I was against a wall and Friday leading by six seconds. Managed to close the gap but eagerness and lack of aero grip when getting too close to him got me making mistakes, which ended up with me in second and @Friday_GTRP getting a deserved win.

I did however enjoy the race much more than I thought. The car is a handful but definitely driveable when you get to anticipate the turbo kick (@John Wells: Turbo means that the engine gets more power by increasing the intake of air by using a turbine located at the beginning of the exhaust. Therefore is linked to the rpm and old, big turbos like this one, get a sudden kick when the turbo gets enough pressure from the exhaust (higher rpm on the engine, higher exhaust pressure) to spin at certain rpm to get a huge amount of air into the intake, meaning you get a sudden peak of power)

Strange. Has that happened before? I have occasionally hit it by mistake. I'm not sure if it's the game since the share button is a PS function and, I think, cant be remapped.
I did change my settings so that a single press takes a screenshot without any further interaction - so in your case it wouldn't require a second press and therefore any loss of steering. I just have to remember to delete all the spurious pictures!

Although the game has on occasions completely lost my wheel mid session, usually after I've been in and out of the menus. I have to close and restart PC2 for it to find the wheel again. It's never happened in a multiplayer game yet thankfully but I'm always a bit wary of adjusting anything.

Oh it's a G29.

Online I did have the random button pressing. Usually into the car management control menu or pit stop request. It’s random and I am 100% sure I didn’t press them. Not much I can do to avoid it.

In career and qualifying I had the share button issue. It happened in PCars 1 and it only happens in SMS games for all I know.

T300RS here.

Even stranger with other random button presses.

After a bit of a Google it seems that it is specific to the T300 and its variations. There's quite a few complaints, mainly PCars but with some related to other games. Even Forza on the Xbox. Wheels have been replaced because of it. Some say it's possibly related to flex in the wheel during racing that over time causes the various buttons to activate, which sort of makes sense. Perhaps there are some screws you could tighten?
Since it's possible with Thrustmaster wheels, have you tried updating the firmware?

Thanks for that. Yeah, that makes sense. I don’t think I’ll get a free wheel though!

My firmware is up to date as far as I know.

I’ll try to avoid flexing the wheel, then. Tricky business with the 98T.

Just recently I tightened the screw that sets the wheel on its axle. (It’s low quality so I rounded its head...)

By the way, just random ranting... I think the driver rating points system got tweaked and now is even worse to earn them. Yesterday I finished second in a field of 12. @Friday_GTRP finished first having a much higher score than me and even so, I lost a point. I finished where my score indicated I would, as I had the second highest rating. Doesn’t make sense to loose a point finishing where I should. Rant over. (Yeah yeah, who cares about the rating. Well, my OCD does.)
