GTE Round 5 Watkins Glen.jpg

Congratulations to Champion @Friday_GTRP and Vice-Champion @Tavilha and congratulations also to Team Europe on a convincing victory.

The team concept seemed to work well, but for the next series I have split you into 4 teams of 4 drivers which fits with the main colours of the cars.

It is worth looking through posts 1-7 again (on page 1) - the main change is to the start procedure - for this series we will use standing start, but with no overtaking until after completion of the first corner - no accelerating until after the car in front accelerates when he has completed the corner. I think this will give the same advantages as a formation lap, but will waste less time especially on the longer tracks like Bathurst.

Note - this series is full, but there is a space waiting for you in the Monday 1968 Tasman Series (Lotus 49 without wing)

@Sick Cylinder Noticed that SimbaLora is in two team (white and green)

Thanks Jammy - I'll correct that later - there may be some other mistakes - I probably have someone missing and have put Simba in their place. I have tried to make the teams ones which are likely to score similar points over the course of a season - I will be happy to change them slightly if people would like changes, plus any corrections will be made.

Congrats @Friday_GTRP !

Team Portugal! Yeah :sly:

I think this will work to avoid 1st corner havoc. On the downside, gap between front and back drivers will be bigger than in a traditional start, because you accelerate in turns. The slower the corner, the bigger the gap.

I was quite enjoying the tension of the formation lap. Plus you could get to look at the scenery. :)
But I can see what you mean about the longer tracks.

Just to clarify then. Are we to remain in double file from the grid start or are we to approach the first corner in single file? And at what sort of speed? If someone has a poor start for some reason should the other drivers let him pass prior to the first corner so he can regain his position?
Also I suppose on some tracks you'd have to stipulate which is the first corner. Ruapuna for instance has a kink to the left before the named Flexoplas* corner, I presume this wouldn't be classed as the first corner.

*Thanks John ;)

Just had my first practice session with this car and track combination.

The car is a proper handful. Not very different to the Corvette although with probably less grip on the tires.

It was very difficult to maintain the temperature on the tires and after a few laps the car was sliding all over the place. It’s going to be an interesting challenge to drive this for 30 minutes.

I did few laps also on Sunday and same problem with tires and handling. I had winter date so that didn't help for temperatures.

Just for a quick go I've done a few laps in the V8, although it was around Bathurst, and yes it is entertaining! A found the stable setting more er, stable.

Since we have Sick in the team I expect the blue ones are easiest to handle. :P

I just wander what in game date we're using Ruapuna race? 9th May? 9 Nov (Current Date - 6 months)? Something else?

I've been meaning to say, @IBZ6L20VT I noticed you are doing a bit of GTS-ing every now and then (nice liveries). So if you'd like some good clean and fun racing* come and join @Zolon32 and us chaps on a Tuesday evening over HERE.

Like Sick, we've been running for a few years now and have few faces you'll know from over here, but always welcome new recruits.

And that goes for for anyone else who's free. And has got GTS of course, that's quite important.

*There's also some close racing but usually not from me. I'm rubbish at GTS. :boggled::)

Ha ha! GTS provides me with something that PCars can’t, that is quick races (no fuss about cars behaving much differently or setups) and full grid races with people with similar skills.

I can’t get to go any fast in GTS either. I have friends going over a second (or two) faster per minute. It feels so unnatural that I can’t improve more. (Stuck at level B at the moment). I do enjoy fiddling with liveries but it’s something I been doing less and less lately as summer is pretty much here and there is little time to be at home.

For this very same reason, unfortunately I can’t join more races at nights.

PS: I tried to send this in a private message to you to avoid going off-topic here, but you seem to have them disabled.

I must have switched that option off some time back. All sorted. Anyways it keeps Sick's racing threads up the top of the forum when someone posts so may attract future drivers. So he can't complain. ;)

@Sick Cylinder, don´t forget to tell me which team to use the white or the green one? And

Green number 10 for @richroo

White number 2 for @AndreasR / SimbaLora

Ruapuna and Bathurst will be current date + 6 months to get them into summertime - the other locations will be current date.

Note - we will use the same starting procedure that we tried on Monday as it worked very well - Standing start - leave the grid at 1 second intervals - don't start until 1 second after the car ahead of you has moved. Pole position car goes straight to racing speed. I will send a reminder about this via PSN as some people may miss this message.
