I don't think that I'll make it for the rest of Lotus 25 vs 51 championship campaign. I drove the Lotus 51 and its engine consomption was too bad in my opinion.
I'd like to see him try that in the (SMS) Lotus 51.including this glorious overtake in the sports cars class

i'm sorry nervus for ruining your race
We might try the Lotus 51 again next year - possibly on short slow tracks in a single make series.
Good luck in trying to tame it.
I was going for polystyrene.they must have ticked marshmallow instead of rubber for the material.
You just need to drive it around backwards so it'll pull itself around the corners.Quite looking forward to having a crack at it to be honest.

A front wheel drive racing car!?
Speaking of which, were any classic F1 cars front wheel drive @Sick Cylinder ?
If you want I can have a look at a custom setup and report back to you.

Yes - please try custom setups for the Lotus 51. We haven't had a race series with tuning allowed yet and generally it hasn't been necessary. In PC1 the Lotus 51 had a really good base setup - it might be interesting to compare the base setups in PC1 and PC2. Maybe they were kept the same and the problem is how the setup works with the new tyre model.
Okay, I'll look into it. If I'm successful at improving it we'll just have to have a 5 minute practise session before the first round when we run it so I can share the setup with everyone racing.
Cheers for the PC1 tip, I'll go back and have a look at it. I was initially thinking of aiming for a similar handling to the lotus 25 but with less understeer on corner entry and more chassis oversteer on corner exit (less power oversteer). I based that on the fact that the engine is lighter so won't 'push' the car as much on entry and isn't as powerful so won't light up as much but will still have a pendulum effect due to the rear engine. If you have any other ideas on the handling i'd be grateful for the assistance though, especially if you have any historical info on how it handled.
The FWMV Coventry Climax V8 engine used in the Lotus 25 was an all alloy engine whereas the Cortina GT unit used in the 51 was cast iron so would have been a lot heavier. The handling of the 51 should be very similar to the 25 in the game i.e. lots of sliding - the real 51 slid around a lot because of the road tyres used. In real life the 25 was very precise i.e. with minimal sliding.
The lotus 51 needs to race on all terrain or vintage tyres (cant remeber), track tyres dont last at all, so you would need to allow tunning to race it. Personnaly I would avoid racing it, its fun and a challenge to drive but you spend more time trying to keep it on track.
I suggested that might work a few posts back.I would have been going in completely the wrong direction
Strangely, while testing various tracks for weather, I found the 51 at Raupuna to be fairly manageable. It must have a grippier surface. Was able too a couple laps, without spinning,
