Hi all,
Bit off topic banter here:
I played GTSport a couple of times these last few days.
I am dead slow at that game, especially compared to other players who also play PCars2. Clearly my approach to GTS is wrong.
Can any of the GTS players here (@AndreasR @Harsk100) provide any advice? What is your typical TCS setup? FFB?
I am at a loss so any help is appreciated.
I'm use T150, and my FF setup is always to the max. Why is point to having FF wheel and turning FF off...?
I'm usually rubbish when I jump onto GTS. I can't get a feel for it somehow. I think Rob's point about overdriving is valid. I try to go faster to compensate for the fact I'm slower which actually makes me slower still because I'm going too fast! If you see what I mean.I am at a loss so any help is appreciated.
Thanks. I love old SPA track and Lotus... And my high FF setup is like my workout I like to be tired after sim racingHigh settings certainly don't slow @upuaut (Nervus) down! I don't think I said well done for your win in the Lotus last Wednesday. 👍
I might be overdriving the car, but to be honest, I just drive as I would in real life. It seems that GTS doesn’t like to carry speed into corners.
Yeah, I think you're right there. I'm a naturally smooth driver, usually I have to build up to start flicking the car around and get some proper 'pace' out of it in PC2. Perhaps my initial driving style lends itself more to GT Sport, which would indicate what you're saying.
From what I remember, in GT Sport, there are three distinct phases to cornering: Braking, Cornering and Exiting. I get the impression that in PC2 those can all be blurred to a certain extent (depending on the car) to maximise pace purely because it's easier to feel how the car is balanced, and that's most likely where you have such a pace advantage over me in our races. Perhaps try simplifying your approach back to those basics, it appears that's what the game likes.
I've given my copy of GT Sport to a friend because I don't play it any more, but it would be interesting to see a lap comparison between the two games, on the same track and in the same car, just to see how lines/cornering speed and overall time compares.
The X-bow and Brands Hatch is a good one to use for comparison. The same combo is even in Assetto Corsa. I tried them all. AC felt quite good, PC was a little more twitchy but ok and I think GTS was the only one where I could spin the wheels on corner exit in 5th gear!just need to find the right combo.
I'm swapping cars with Harsk Sick?
I have started noticing a pattern as this has happened a few times now and I'm as perplexed each time it occurs.
Take tonights qualifying session for instance, Harsk didn't set a time and so was
classified as 13th and last on the grid. At race start however he was suddenly
up to 7th on the grid (last among the VPTB cars).
In other words, this takes away from the weaker classed cars (VGTC) whenever they
manage the great feat of outqualifying a faster VPTB car, because the VPTB car will auto-
matically be positioned ahead of any VGTC car at the start, regardless of qualifying times.
It's very odd and it has happened now for several weeks.
Great photos John, love the photo of one of my drifts.
I know this is totally off topic so apologies in advance Sick!
I’ve got to make the comparison video between GTS and Pcars2. BMW Z4 GT3 at Brands Hatch GP:
I was surprised to see that the wheel reactions are very similar in the video, surprised mainly because of the lack of information from the FFB in GTS. You basically react visually to the indication that the car is oversteering.
Pcars is just more intuitive, you react to what you feel through the wheel and it feels natural. My guess is that once you put enough miles into GTS, you would learn to predict how the car is going to react.
Visually I’ll let you judge. Pcars looks and feels like the real Brands Hatch. GTS could be more viasually appealing but the track does not look anything like the real one.
Sounds in GTS are still terrible. I made you a favour and muted it.

Thanks mate. I’ll work on those phases.
It it’s true that I tend to carry braking and speed into corners, completely different style to Hasslemoff for example. But it works for me.
Just a note in smoothness: you can’t be fast without being smooth. There are degrees of smoothness but definitely you can’t apply sharp inputs and achieve great times.
You gave me an idea for a comparison video... just need to find the right combo.
Great vid DD. Were you aiming for a specific time in both games to get them to sync up? Which game took more effort to hit the time?
Also, I noticed that you were on Racing Hards on GTS, that's a good lap then, I used to get frustrated with their apparent lack of 'bite'.
The plan was to be as fair as possible. So I did four laps on each game, recording the last one. Time trial mode with standard setup.
I did the first run in Pcars and set a 1:27.5 (I think). I then managed to achieve the same lap time in GTS in lap three. I was half a second slower in the fourth (the one recorded in the video).
I am still way off pace. Tried a daily race and was again 2 seconds off the pole guys. I assume you can’t modify the setup of the cars on the daily races. I tried and everything is blocked.
@Tavilha @hasslemoff I owned all GT games and it is very frustrating to see where the series have headed. I remember the first GT manual, with several pages explaining how cars behave. GTS seems to be to have an even worse physics model than GT6, more simplistic.
I keep giving the game opportunities, especially because the lack of good online lobbies in Pcars and how good and convenient the daily races mode in GTS is.
