It's got rather more oomph than you on the straights but it's not so keen on the corners. Mind you at that price I expect he was worried about mishaps, especially with other traffic about.
He was shredding it properly, but on road tyres. Just a bit off the racing line too and had to lift once when he cut me off, else we'd trade paint.
Other than that, some good driving and good fun

Here's the most fun part of my track day yesterday, chasing down a 200k€ 911 GT3.
We've got work to do on the gearbox, clutch and suspension for the last race in October. We're finally happy with tyre choice and pressure setting though.

wow, @Tavilha! You are a REAL racer. Very cool. I love the Honda Civic type-r. My son-in-law used to race and he's a Honda Master Mechanic and loves that car as well.

That video was terrific. Is there a way to get video of you racing that's not just from in car, maybe a track side type video to see the outside of the car and more of the venue?

Have a look on Tav's channel Sean (top left of video image), there's a number of videos on there. And don't forget to like, subscribe and press the reminder button. Sorry, sorry, I've been watching too many YouTube videos.

Great video Tav! Looked tremendous fun!

Sorry, but I won't be around again tonight guys. Still in Cardiff on crap WiFi.

Itched my racing bug by going go karting tonight instead. Just an open session but by pure chance I was on track with a former British GT champion and Carrera Cup runner up. Of course he was far quicker than me, but I was chuffed to bits that my fastest lap was 0.8 seconds slower than his!

As soon as the video finishes rendering, I'll post the time of the incident. As I recall, I was too eager to pass a Porsche round the outside of turn 7 (Rindt). As we touched I received a penalty to go back to 5th place, so I waited for a bit.
Great race from DD, who was consistent at great pace, even though the Merc isn't helpful at all.

UPDATE: sorry @Don Mejillone , it was you I made contact with.
Onboard at 40:25 mark and replay at 1:15:45. I didn't realise that moment that I made you crash, so again, sorry for being too impatient on this move.

I feel your pain, penalty system showed it's dark side :(
You was briliant there and I still believed you could catch DD before the end, until that airborne happened in the first corner. Great race anyway. These cars are beasts and they will show their demons soul at Hell next week :)

Here are the replays from Wednesday's race:

Qualifying: Having fed my cats in advance this time, I take off as soon as possible to get track position on this short lap. My session is straight forward, but I have a couple of (near) spins accelerating out of Remus (hairpin, turn 2). This will prove an omen of things to come...

Race: @Tavilha and @IBZ6L20VT go off into the murky distance pretty fast and I have to defend my position from @beachboy6658, who is showing great pace and patience to pressure me into a mistake. He didn't have to wait long, as I spin the car on lap 2. Where you might ask? Of course coming out of the hairpin... From there on I slowly reel in @beachboy6658 until on lap 7 I get to eager on the throttle to find a better exit from the 1st corner and almost spin again. I decide to try the undercut and dive for the pits as soon as I'm allowed to, whereas @beachboy6658 decides to go for a late stop. I have a short on track visit with @Tavilha, who has to sit out his weird penalty but quickly repasses me, and witness a dramatic coming together of @John Wells and @slthree on the long straight on lap 11 that sends rear spoilers all over the track. When @beachboy6658 emerges from the pits with 11min to go, our gap is less than 2s, so evenly matched is our pace. He then hounds me for the remaining time, but unfortunately gets disconnected on the very last lap.

I want to give a special shout out to everyone this time. Austria is a really short track, and traffic can be a serious problem here. Everyone I met on track, both Monday and Wednesday, no matter if it was passing, fighting for position, or lapping, displayed clean racing and respect for his fellow racers. I'm really glad I found this group and massively enjoy racing with you guys! To many more exciting races to come

And at the end some shameless self-promotion: If you like my write-ups and replays, don't hesitate to subscribe to my channel :P

#meetoo ;)

But... I really miss a bit of sim in our group.. Tyres/fuel wear (I know fuel it's conected to setup's, but why tyres?), no damage, no manual pitstop etc.

PC2 is a very good sim racing game (like for console game) but we don't use it in full way :( I don't know if I still be racing under this conditions. What is your's opinion in this matter? Any chances for changes?

I agree with you, @upuaut! I would not mind a little more realism. I think both fuel consumption and tyre wear should be enabled for the next championship(s). It would give the racing much more strategic depth while staying fair and balanced. Due to the locked setups, everyone would start with the same amount of fuel, so only the time of refueling is chosen by the driver. Tyre deg would reward smooth driving over sliding all the time. I do worry about flat spots though, because I have no idea how they are handled in PC2.
Great idea about the pit stops! Manual control would be great, having to stop correctly and not stalling the car. I also think it wouldn't take much time to get the hang of it, if it's new to you.
Concerning damage, I think that visual only might be the best way to go, as the group is very diverse in terms of racing speed. It just feels bad to have an entire race demolished by your or another one's mistake. These do happen and, in my opinion, also have to happen, so to learn from them. The resulting spin or other loss of time is bad enough a punishment.

I'd suggested to Sick to switch off the tyre wear for two three reasons. 1/ The soft tyres wear out quickly. However with my time & weather settings in the end it wouldn't have actually been too bad. 2/ With the multi class racing it helped even the cars up somewhat since they tended to wear out their tyres at differing rates. That would apply to fuel usage also. 3/ It helps the less speedy drivers be more consistent with these group C beasts!
It sort of carried over to Monday's GT3s so the wear got disabled there as well.

With my weather/time tweaking I tried to simulate a bit of tyre wear by increasing/decreasing track temps as the races progressed. I think that's why I spun out on Monday, stupid idea!. :P

I think Sick will probably enable the tyre wear again for the next series. Might as well stick fuel usage on as well, over 30 mins it wouldn't be so bad. Mechanical wear is already enabled.

I'd actually prefer one make races since then everyone is battling with the same car, same tyre wear, same fuel usage, same engine damage etc.

Damage onto visual only was also my suggestion and pretty much for the reasons Willi mentions. Damage is fine for longer races where you have time to recover but for our "quick half hour" races you don't really want any "race ending having to crawl around slowly to the pits while getting in everyone's way" incidents. It's better if you can brush yourselves off and carry on. You'll only have lost a bit of time - and maybe your spoiler! It hopefully stops any animosity too.

I've never noticed but if you "visually" damage your car does the pitstop take longer? I've been using default strategy these series and there's always a little repair time added.

I'd like manual pitstops, I think they're great, but may result in a few more disqualifications due to pit lane speeding errors. Might be worth a try sometime though.

It's always awkward trying to get the balance between sim and enjoyment.

I was puzzled at first, but it is the engine that gets slightly damaged due to the mechanical wear, which is being repaired.

Maybe, I'm not sure. If you go in without your spoiler do you exit with a new one fitted? And does the lack of a spoiler have any effect on your aero or is it completely visual? Again I'm not sure.

How is the online multiplayer? Strong connection, customizable lobbies, easy friend invites?

Online multiplayer is very good at the moment quality wise. It's server based, rather than P2P so connections are strong far more often than not.

I haven't tried inviting/joining friends yet. I'll see if it can be done if I load it up later and report back.

Only thing I'd like to see is private P2P servers added so that private customizable races can be held. Semi contact racing in wreckfest is some of the best fun I've had in a racing game, the way the cars react really allows for crashing and banging to not have a detrimental effect to either driver. Unfortunately, the online races are filled with scrubs that are just out to pit-manouvre you, regardless of the consequences. Still, I've been able to make some decent comebacks but i'd still rather not have to deal with it. Apparently the framework to allow this is in place, we'll just have to see if they implement it.

Here are my on-boards from yesterday:

Qualifying: Pretty straightforward: I chase, *cough*, follow @AndreasR for a little bit to help him warm up his tires ;) I then let the drivers closer behind me pass on the long straight to open some room for my fast lap. I'm surprised to be 2nd initially, but wonder if this is due to @AndreasR and @Tavilha getting very close on their laps (watch the distance timer in the lower left corner). This is confirmed by @Tavilha beating my time on the 2nd try.

Race: At the start you can (just) see @AndreasR going off track in my rear mirror. I didn't realize at the time and only spotted it in the replay. Somehow I have trouble putting in good first laps with the Nissan in recent races, and this race proves to be one of those. I barely make the NGK chicane, the last chicane on the GP circuit. Kudos to @rj5992 for not running into me, when I was trying out my "creative" lines there and in the following corners  I think I was so confused by the sudden roar of engines around me, not being to used to them anymore after Monday's lonely race, that I panic and go on the grass at Hoheneichen. I don't spin, but there goes @rj5992 and third place. Shame, because we were evenly matched on pace (our fastest laps of the race separated by just 0.6s) and it could have been a great tussle. I try to catch up to him but spin on the 2nd lap at the transition from the GP track to the Nordschleife. Fortunately, my gap to @AndreasR is a big enough cushion to not lose a place. From there on it's a lonely race to the finish and I cry a little bit inside, having missed out on a great on-track battle and a chance for the podium in the last race of the season :(

Congratulations to @Tavilha on his championship win!
