If you drive your car in space at the speed of light with your headlights on, will they work....!!
Of course they will. From Einstein's relativity theory we know that if you travel at light speed and you switch on some light, then this light will travel at light speed compared to your own speed. Light speed is some equivalent to 'infinite' in relativity theory (which is not true anymore in quantum physics).

Sorry, we haven't heard of Famine for a long time in the WRS, so somebody else has to do that kind of answers. :ill:

Just for fun, I'm going to try a FF and FR and a 4WD on this one.

Here's my FF car, best of 2 laps now moving on to a different platform...

Honda ITR 98 Spec - NA Fully Modified

T1: 1'31.472
T2: 2'40.920
T3: 3'51.168

Now my 4WD car...

R32 Skyline GT-R Fully Modded @ VCD 10%

T1: 1'22.641
T2: 2'30.848
T3: 3'35.007

Thank you all for the welcomes. I finally unlocked the Complex String II last night, I haven't given it a shot yet, I was too tired - actually I started a lap, but I found myself falling asleep on my way through it, so I just gave up :D Will do some laps today after I come home from school)

From Einstein's relativity theory we know that if you travel at light speed and you switch on some light, then this light will travel at light speed compared to your own speed.

The speed of light is not additive. If you are travelling at a velocity v << c (velocity v much smaller than the speed of light) and somebody is travelling toward you at a velocity u << c (again, velocity u much smaller than the speed of light), then the relative velocity that each of you will perceive the other one is moving at will be the sum of the two (u + v). This, though, does not work for speeds approaching the speed of light, which is the limit imposed by Eintein's relativity. Speed of light is a constant, and the additive rule does not apply. If you are travelling at a velocity v ~ c (velocity v approximately close to speed of light) and somebody is travelling toward you at a velocity u ~ c (again, velocity u approximately close to the speed of light) each of you will perceive the other one doing exactly that: moving toward you at his/her own speed... the total wouldn't be u + v, like in the previous case. Same applies for the beam of light. If you are travelling at a speed close to the speed of light and switch on a light, that light will move at the speed of light (but NOT relative to you, as you are travelling pretty close to the speed of light already).

After 5 laps in the fully modded Mini:

1:38.192 / 2:47.807 / 3:59.583

First Mini under the 4 minute mark at T3?
Should be plenty more to take off here, If I get some more seat time:tup:

The Wizard.
You're right, the light can only travel at light speed (consequence of Maxwell's equations), and at speeds close enough to 'c', speeds are not additive any more (restricted relativity).
The 'compared to your own speed' sentence was badly chosen (not my native language) : I just wanted to stress on the fact that when travelling at 'c' and switching on the light, you would see a normal light beam and not an extremely slow light beam as you could expect according to classical physics.

no racing for my this week.
i am going to barcelona to see the match barcelona vs racing santander,
so see you guys next week, good luck with your race.

JADAMAN. 👍

Thanx Jada!!!!

Did you know it means Yes-sure" in Norwegian?

Welcome wizard but be warned :crazy: We´re mad

Stock gearbox in place in the green monster.Lets get Tougemaster, Hellnback1 cause right now he has parked us with a 3.31.420 :rolleyes:

👍 That's the car I'll also be using for this race. I just love it to bits :P

Haven't done a time with it though. Still using slower cars to get to know the track. Maybe I'll take the FTO out for a spin tonight...

If you want some help on settings, just PM me :)

I'm done with my FTO for now :sly:
T1: 1'07.999
T2: 2'04.728
T3: 3'00.369

I might try the Denso next :dopey:

Isn't anyone racing the arcade Mini? I just had to try it out.. :crazy:

T1 2'13.903
T2 3'41.443
T3 5'12.780

This was my first lap though so I hope I'll improve.. 👍

Cheers!

5 laps in a car I don't know on a track I don't know.
At least I'm not moving very fast and have some time to read the map before the turn comes up. :lol:

T1: 2'13.109
T2: 3:40.407
T3: 5'12.580

Mini - Arcade version :D
I did, this was my post from 1st page.
Looks like there is a second available in T1/T2 for you. You made most of it back up on the way to T3 on me though.

I have a time posted on www.granturismo.de in the Arcade Mini if you want to compare my (bad) time with yours.
But that's a hard race, I keep falling asleep before reaching the finish line. :lol:
I'll stay in the full modded Mini.

I'll do my best to find those seconds then.. :)
Pretty new to this so I'm not sure I'll be competitive in a uber-fast car, like the F1... That's why I'll stick to the slower ones.. Will probably try something faster too though.. :scared:

Cheers!

I see there's room for improvement on my lap.. 👍
Good to have something to aim for..

Flinx's time is something to aim for, not mine.

Well Bollocks my best T1 is now 1:03.622 but I still got the feeling the car's need much(and then I mean much :)) of settings 👍

Cheers to everyone this week and Kents thanks for this week dude 👍

OK, first times for me this week

Full modded Mini
T1= 1:40.028
T2= 2:51.075
T3= 4:05.630

Mitsubishi FTO LM Race Car
T1= 1:18.187
T2= 2:22.713
T3= 3:25.242

OK.... looks like I'm still gonna need a loooooot of practice here :P

...and I was right.. Did improve my Mini time marginally except for T3 :grumpy: :

T1 2'13.337
T2 3'40.205
T3 5'13.576

My other choice is the S2000 LM Racecar, fully-modded. Great to drive but insanely fast. It feels like I'm leaving 10 minutes out there.. 👎

T1 1'14.592
T2 2'14.493
T3 3'15.444

Hmm.. Will take a lot more practice.. Good fun!

Cheers!

2 seconds faster than me to T1? Was I in reverse gear or what! :crazy:
Feel like sharing your settings?
And you are on Complex String 2 (reverse), right?

Yeah, am I that fast??or what.I am just used to racing to racing the gT-ONE

BTW:My T1 is good but T2??dont thought so :dopey:

I think it's the downforce :grumpy:

Haha! You made up the time in T1/T2, but gave it back in T3. This track is so damn hard to run 1 complete good lap. :scared:
Keep at it 👍 and I might try out the S2000 tonight since we seem to run comparable times. I prefer the RX7 LM over the S2000 though. Maybe I'll try both. :D

I know (hangs head in shame) can't seem to drive consistently (sp?). I get bored halfway through..

Yep, beat my time in the S2000, shouldn't be too hard. I'm going to give it a few more tries tomorrow. RX7 LM? Might try that one aswell.. :)

Cheers!

I tried the GTONE, the R390, the F094S and the F094H.
Screw those F1 cars, I can't drive those twitchy things to save my life. Didn't drive a single clean lap in either one of them.

2nd lap on both the Toyota and the Nissan GT1 cars were both clean, so I stopped there because I wanted to try the F1 cars out also :rolleyes: . 1st lap in the Toyota I got so sideways (and kept going) during the box section that it actually flashed the "Wrong Direction" text on the screen. :lol:

Best clean laps:
Toyota GTONE
T1: 1'05.757
T2: 2'00.903
T3: 2'56.381

Nissan R390 GT1:
T1: 1'05.844
T2: 2'01.326
T3: 2'55.235
previous post...

New time with Stock Viper fitted with T8's
T1-1'29.366
t1-2'37.788
T3-3'47.277
This car is a blast to drive. Now I gotta get back to the Elise before I lose my fell for the car.

EDIT:fell=feel

Couldn't resist some quick runs in the RX-7 LM, S2000 LM, Denso and the FTO LM.
These have to be my favorite cars in the game. :dopey:

Had a good run going in the RX7 and looked at the T2 time and went off in the turn following. :ouch: What a crappy place to put a T time. :mad: Came back to it after the Denso and FTO and put down some decent splits for it. 👍

RX7 LM 979hp
T1: 1'09.044
T2: 2'06.184
T3: 3'04.154

S2000 LM 943hp
T1: 1'10.883
T2: 2'07.815
T3: 3'06.4xx

Denso 970hp
T1: 1'09.737
T2: 2'06.006
T3: 3'03.0xx

FTO LM 966hp
T1: 1'09.244
T2: 2'06.580
T3: 3'03.855

The RX7 LM and the S2000 are really close, I just ran a better lap in the RX7.
Same with the Denso and the FTO.

Funny thing is I beat my Escudo time in all 4 of the cars above. :D

After 5 more laps in the Mini :
T1 = 1'40.0
T2 = 2'51.7
T3 = 4'05.7
though I didn't check the replay yet to see if the lap is 100% clean.

Still trying different settings, but actually the thing that brings the biggest improvements is 'learning the track'.

6 or so laps in 001, and i have

T1: 1:03.416
T2: 1:53.855
T3: 2:46.033

only 2 breach of the 2 tire rule :(.

very hard to keep 2 tires on the track with F1. btw my F1 now has 2300 km, maybe i should use my fresh one, though would the extra hp = much faster times?

EDIT!!

Where is luxy's leaderboard?
Im competing for the best time possible :dunce:
