Luxy. 👍

I think this is a good race to run for the week.

The castrol supra is my favorite car in gt3.

I always would have rather had the cermo one supra from gt2 instead of the denso. :(
Oh well... but then again 🤬 red wheels ? :yuck:

Any way, I haven't even tried to run this yet but without us talking about T times it will be interesting for sure.
Notice I went with the arcade car and not something we had to setup? :sly:

Also take note that I used gv even though our last use of it was week 93(reverse) and 82(forward)... So really, this is an odd trend.

I try to space out the use of tracks over several weeks and it just might be working... (check list says I still need to get seattle2 :grumpy: ) ;)

So yeah!
Hope you all enjoy the race!
bye. :D

Are Test Course and Super Speedway still in the 'no way !' category ?
I agree that Test Course would be rather boring, but some overpowered (Escudo ?) car on sim tyres at Speedway could turn out to be a challenging event.
Okay, I'm off topic, this belongs in the suggestion thread. Sorry. :guilty: ... ;)

The Tunnel before the bridge; what is optimal line?

Denso
My technique is :
- on the rumble strip all through the left-hander (well, as much as I can)
- early steering to hit the apex of the blind right-hander as close to the wall as possible
- early acceleration to get as much speed as I can
- avoid the rail on the outside
- speed through the bridge

The main idea is to lose the speed on the lefthander between the 2 tunnels since it's a slow portion and have the widest line possible on the right-hander to max the speed on the bridge.
Doing it is something else ;)

It's been awhile, I'm abit rusty and haven't tried to go 'balls to the wall' for some weeks but I might have to find some time for this one...

I've ran both the Castrol and Denso already, pretty much a much of the muchness (neck and neck) for me...

So if we can't discuss T times, what are we going to talk about?
nixweiss.gif
Just wondering. I have decided on a car though.

I just did some runs with both the Denso and the Castrol, and my best lap in the Denso was about .5 faster with less laps to get there. It seems smoother and easier to turn on the rumble strips but is slower on the straights when compared to the Castrol ghost.

Ah, so a second off my current time will be extremely good then.

I wouldn't know. I wasn't indicating that they were fast times, just faster times than the ones found in the gt.de db

I used to not like the Supras but now that I have setups that I am able to drive the car, its much better for me with the car. Btw, it will be a Castrol Supra for me! :) :dopey: :D

How do setups help you with Arcade cars?

The good thing about this week is that you get down to an acceptable time pretty quickly... like my x:xx.xxx :sly: :P, then I decide to run some more this arvo, nail the first corner and find 0.2 in the first sector, then hit a good line in the left, right, left before the first tunnel I find another ~0.2, so now I'm a little over 0.4 up at the second sector, only to throw it away in the next left before the second tunnel... :ouch: 🤬 :banghead:

I'm also able to find some time in the last tunnel also, so now it's just a small matter of stringing them all together...

I know. I met my "goal" last night, and as I call it quits tonight I'm about 1.4 seconds faster. yet still I could be doing great, or I could be miles behind the pack. I DON'T HAVE A CLUE??? :banghead:  :banghead:

in case you couldnt tell this is driving me crazy.

yet still I could be doing great, or I could be miles behind the pack. I DON'T HAVE A CLUE???

Actually I think I like it better this way 👍

It adds onto the surprise effect that you get when the results are finally posted (as we are not going to know who is going to win Division 1 - *cough cough* - Hugo Boss anyone? ;) :D)

Just keep setting your next goal half a second or so lower than the one that you have currently reached - and then repeat, repeat, and repeat some more... - every time you reach your next goal, lower the time again - until you can't just take it anymore and you want to throw the PS2 out the window :D

Also, I am glad that Kent added the Denso Supra in the picture - my favorite car :D
I don't know what I will be using yet, as I haven't even started lapping...

It seems - from what I read - that the best choice is going to be the Castrol Supra, as it is faster on the straight - but I like the livery of the Denso better...

Also, I think the red wheels fit her pretty good 👍 :D - in spite of what Kent thinks... you do know that you could change the wheels, if you didn't like them, right ;) - I know, you can't do it with an Arcade car - but you sounded like the only reason you didn't ever bothered with the Denso in your GT career was because of its wheels :indiff: ;)

Who said anything about not bothering with it? :sly:
I don't use red wheels when I run the denso but in general I run the castrol over the denso regardless of course.

Look at Complex String II, I ran the castrol there when hugo ran the denso (less than 2 seconds behind hugo's denso I might add :sly:  )

Point is, I have always liked the Castrol for reasons other than the straight line speed (which I have never really tested compared to the denso).

However, I have spent tons of time on the castrol ...
Since GT1 it has been one of my favorite cars. 👍
(btw, gt2 was awesome because they included the '96castrol supra as well as the '99castrol) (not to mention the cermo one  )

I ran some laps tonight. :dopey:
Went with the castrol and managed to get a half decent lap... Feels like I have about .3 to go before I get to my limit.
Maybe more with luck but it will take a bit more time then I have for this week.

I will still try to get it done though. ;)

denso is the best for me, IMHO. i havent managed to beat my previous time yet though ive seen some very good sectors, if i can string them all together i can wipe off around 1 second.

I see where you are coming from, Kent. I, too, have a special bond with the Denso, as it is the car in which I spent the most miles on, in my GT3 career ;)

You too, look at WRS 100 - Complex String II - my debut into the world of WRS - I chose to run my first race with the Denso - could have used some other faster/better handling combinations, but you can't forget your first love, now can you? :sly: :D

I think that, time permitting, this week I will just end up trying both, to see how they compare, which one gives me the faster laps and the easier way to achieve them - but most likely I will end up using the Denso Supra - it's a psycholigical reason... I know I won't be able to run as hard/fast with a car I don't like (even if the only visual thing that changes is the livery ;))

We will see...

Thank you again for this combo 👍
I needed it after what you put me through with WRS 103 ;)

By the way, Happy 2nd WRS Anniversary for me as well, even if I have only been part of the family for just 4 weeks (counting this one).

On a different point of view - I will start from scratch and be there from the beginning for the GT4 version of the WRS 👍 :sly:

The Wizard.

just improved my time by .5, the times at gt.de arnt that good are they :sly:. Denso it is for me, i love that car.

at this rate the top 4 - 5 of us will be the top 4 - 5 at gt.de :).

btw Wizard hope on msn :)

Darn it, I had just spent a good 2 hour session last week improving the set-up of my Denso Sard, and had set a pretty tasty (by my standards anyway :indiff: ) new lap record, some 2 secs quicker than my previous... but not in the Arcade (stock) Denso :ouch: .... in a fully tuned Supra, I found myself going alot quicker by maximising my speed through the multiple types of corner at Grand Valley (as opposed to maximising straght line speed), hence I'll be sticking with the Denso over the Castrol for this test... will be interesting to see the comparison between the two Supras once and for all though... 👍

Well, atleast I'm keeping up with the Jones'... that's exactly the same as my best time so far... :D

Hi everyone! :)

I had a few laps last night (6 to be exact) in the Denso, man I'm rusty! About a second or so off the pace.

I'll definitely be turning in a time for this week, the 2nd anniverasry of the WRS 👍

I could do with getting warmed up again for GT4 :sly:

Hehehe, I've been getting warmed up for GT4 by running GT3 enduro's and concentrating on getting more laps on my superhards between each pit-stop, meanwhile still turning quick laps. I can do Rome 2hrs with one pit (~40 laps) with my Motorsport Elise (with chip and muffler).

I've already had time to do two sessions on this and I must say it gets more enjoyable with every lap.. Improved my time to the point where I reached my goal and am now trying to stay there consistently.. Good fun. Though I am (I imagine!) far behind you fast drivers, I'm still really satisfied with my own times at the moment! 👍

Now to try to reach my next target if I get a chance to drive a few laps this afternoon! :dopey:

Cheers!

im .3 off from my next goal and if this goal is broken i will be a extremely happy chappy.

For what it is worth, I just loaded a Tom's Castrol and Denso Sard Supra side by side in a garage with MK's software. They seem to be identical in every respect including the mysterious "Fitment" figures, which no one has yet figured out to the best of my knowledge. These are base SIMULATION Rides of course, I would have to save a run with each ARCADE ride, then extract them again with MK's to prove their similarity but I suspect the Livery is the only difference between them.

I stand Corrected! :embarrassed: I had a few free moments this morning so I ran a Lap in Free Run with each of the Supras. Saved a replay of each and dissected them with MK's. All lines are identical EXCEPT for the transmission. Final Drive Ratio is the same but all Gear Ratios are slightly different. Also I had always assumed that Arcade Rides came equipped with T-5s but they are both listed as having Rain?,free10 tires?

__Castrol /Denso
1st: 3.819 / 3.798
2nd: 2.527 / 2.513
3rd: 1.825 / 1.816
4th: 1.385 / 1.377
5th: 1.103 / 1.097
6th: 0.923 / 0.918
Final: 3.266

I have also always assumed that the Calsonic and Loctite Skylines were identical as well as all three NSXs. I will have to run the same test on them as time allows. I hope this helps! 👍

after driving the castrol some more, id say its faster than the denso, but the denso is easier to learn the track. Once you know the track and you can be pricise the castrol is better. Its faster down the straights as well.

Someone can take em to the test track and with AT and TCS run the 1000m and see who wins.

Were the selected transmissions the same for the comparison above?

Believe it or not, but the transmission selection changes the gear ratios.

Just go get into any car in the game and buy the full custom race tranny.

then go to set it up.

When you get there first try to change the gears with the FD, you will see no change in the overall pattern of the gears.

However, when you move the "auto" slider just one spot you should notice that all of the gears change a great deal.

This is because automatic transmissions are always setup differently compared to their manual transmission counterparts.

So the second you use the auto slider just once all of your gears are changed to be setup for an auto driver.

That is why the tranny trick requires you to change the FD, then the auto and then go back to the FD.

If you just move the auto and nothing else you end up with a tranny that runs well for an auto but not a manual.

So in other words ...
Next time we run a race where we can tune our own trannys, if you run the tranny trick then you are just fine.

However,
If you run an auto- only change the auto slider position.
If you run a manual- only change the FD position, do not touch the auto slider (don't move it even 1 spot!)

Of course, those are just my observations. :dunce:

BTW,
Last night I got in a session. 👍
Looks like I will be about 1 second off the leaders as usual. :( :indiff: :dopey:

I had fun running my castrol though. :D
(I like the castrol's looks more too)

NO selection available as these were the ARCADE Rides. 👍

Just loaded each ARCADE Ride next to a Base SIM version. Most lines seem to be identical EXCEPT for the ever mysterious Fitment lines 7th gear, Oil2 & Auto Gear. The Base SIM Trans Ratios are the same as the ARCADE Ratios for both Rides.

What I find to be interesting about this perfect 2 year mark is what comes at the end... GT4 in North America!

Boom could have never seen it coming but for some reason things worked out so that the day this 2 year mark comes to an end gt4 will come out and in a symbolic way a new era will be born.

Thanks for noticing the important date though. 👍

For me this will mark exactly 1 year of doing the WRS as the mod & 2 years as a racer... 59 races completed as of week 103.

Happy birthday GTP that thought me how to get nailed by the really fast guys who hung out here, and I mean really, really fast.Experienced contenders showed the way!!!

Thanx for sharing your expertice in this fine hour LUXY and FLAT OUT!!!

I actually dont know when i joined GTP, just that I really hammered the pad for some weeks with the EVO7 at Midfield before submitting my time to be shure I made it to the div.1. It was Boom that moderated the series i think...

But KENT, youre doing a great job, we`all still love GTP, but as The 4 is knocking on our door in Europe too.I guess that means new times, a new era as you put it. I have changed to the Castrol for this anniversary week, and Im gonna watch the ending movie with that beatiful classic song ( do anyone know wich composer? ) and wipe a tear for good`ol GT3&GTP...recommended.

GT1,GT2,GT3;GTC,GTP all gold 100%
GTP div.1

See you at the tracks in GT4 folks, maybe the Nurb??

NO selection available as these were the ARCADE Rides.

Any time you select an arcade car the first options you have to select before racing are "drift or race" and "manu or auto"

You had to select manual or auto to get into a race. 👍

That's why I asked which tranny you used.

This is also important based on what tranny you have selected in the options mode (which dictates the tranny style used for sim mode).

All of the above could have something to do with the differences between the cars.

Finally:
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
I think the WRS is going to be around for a long time. 👍

I was here for week 1 as a division 2 racer. :dopey:
I've been here as the moderator since week 53 (my first week).
I will be here for a long time to come.

I just hope that I have managed the series is a unique way that has been fun for all of you.
My race selections, my moderation, my attitude... I just hope that all of it was enjoyable for you guys.

Luckily I have had most of those hopes fufilled because I have seen such great turn-outs so consistantly.

Bottom line:
I hope to keep the WRS alive and kicking. ;)
