I shift the Denso at roughly 6250-6500. Slightly faster (according to my tests at the test course) than taking it to the redline.

Let's just wait for the game to make any plans like that.
I know you haven't been here long so let me tell you that we have never done the super speedway or the test course. :dopey:

I think I'm done for the week.
Just don't want to put in tons and tons of time to get a new clean lap.

Plus with gt4 coming out soon it just takes a little more dedication than usual.

On that note, I have seen many of you inquire about the Gt4 switch.
I will make a "press release" :sly: before the weekend is over. :D

My apologies for enquiring about GT4 for the WRS Kent, I posted a bit hastily then read up in the suggestions about you waitng till we all got settled in with GT4. Anyways, Im enjoying the Castrol this week, Im keeping things nice and simple by just using the one car !!!
I managed to duck under a certain goal this evening regards times, Im loving the car this week - loads of clean laps. Im gaining lots of speed by using the rumble strips and coming in -

Aaaargh!!!!!! a massive fly has just flown past my head and scared the hell out of me !!! It wont be doing much more flying - now where was I ?

- from far out on the right and cutting across the rumble strips on the left hander before the first tunnel.

It's a legitimate concern for all of us UK/Europeans... we don't want to miss out do we?? :) saying that, I have complete faith that Kent will not let us down...

More power (and faster laps) to you James up in Yorkshire's fair lands...

i broke my record (and a certain other record :P)in the denso, still .15 off my goal however, which i know is very possible.

Time to pull the plug on this one. I've managed to beat my old 2003 time so I'm happy :)

W00t, this is a hell of a week with no idea of others T-times.My lap time is almost clean.

And for god's sake, I'm driving better with this old Mclaren wheel then I ever could imagined 👍

Cheers,

BTW: Oh yeah, climbing to 19th position in the stats

PF! what is this McLaren wheel youre using?
M-Sport have recently given Henning Solberg(Big brother of Petter, a PS2 wheel, but he wouldnt let us(tv) see it.Those who has, claims it has gear shift wrc style, and its developed by Ford rally-team..drool

Well A.R.C is finished so I grabbed a few laps in both cars to see if I can still race non-rally cars :dopey:

Great fun driving in both the Supras 👍 but I'm short of time so I have submitted nice and early. The Toms ended up slightly faster for me at the line for the record ;)

Good luck guys :)

Nice to see you Ron 👍

I've got Persian Pride round at the moment for our usual GT night and we're using this weeks challenge for a spot of fun :) PP is chasing my ghost as I write this, I'm .017 ahead at the moment lol, but I doubt it will take him very long to nail that. 👍

For the last two nights I've been fighting to string together what would be my perfect lap. You see, I found a better line through that first turn that bettered my T1 by about 2 tenths, But apparantly I pretty much nailed the back section (for me) allready because even being behind, the ghost always pulls away from me. Before I was having trouble trying to duplicate the back section, usualy mesing up at the 90 degree left into the tunnel, but Then today I find I can only, say maybe, once in every ten laps, grab grab that first corner, and now I am making REALLY STUPID mistakes. Like breaking too late and riding around the outside of the turn with two tiers in the dirt, or breaking too early and shooting off the bottom of the track! :dunce: 👎 :banghead: I may be done for this week if I cant get it together. I dont know whats wrong with me. :indiff:

Lose the ghost.

Not on the track, in your head. ;)

Stop using your ghost at the begining of a session, then do as many as possible- only think of the track ahead and stay concentrated.

Then if you still have the time or drive to do a second session load the ghost and chase it for a few laps.

After that you should probably take a break and start the process again later.

Good luck :sly:

Lose the ghost.

Kent is, as always (;)), right.

I used to race with the ghost all the time, only to see myself lapping better in a couple of turns, and then messing up everything else because the ghost would deconcentrate me. I turned it off, and now I just think about one lap at a time - if that lap is not better than the previous one, then I just do another one... When I improve my lap time by what I think is a good measure, I exit the race, save the replay, watch it (check if it is legal) and then start the session again.

I would also suggest this: don't look at the split times while you are racing, it only messes up your concentration. Don't look at the RPM gage (if you use manual transmission) either. Just use your peripheral vision to check if your splits are blue (better than your fastest lap so far in that session) or red (worse than your fastest lap so far in that session) - if you really want to check if you are improving your time or not. If you use manual transmission, use your peripheral vision as well and just check for the blinking red led - if you can't shift by hearing the RPM's.

This is what I do and what works for me - it might not work for you - but so far I have gotten the best results with this method.

Once you feel like you can't improve in a session anymore, instead of keeping lapping and getting frustrated, take a break and restart later - you will find that you will be lapping more consistantly and with less effort, this way.

That's my 99 (Euro)cents :sly:

The Wizard.

Try using a slower ghost and gradually build your way up. I never use my best save because it puts too much pressure on me and knowing that I'm ahead of my best more often than not leads to errors. A ghost with a slower T1 is best

I'm done for this week too... I just couldn't string together my four best sectors in one clean lap, so I know for a fact that there is atleast 0.280 sec still in there, but I'll have to submit my current time...

Actually today I'm going outdoor karting for the first time... :nervous: I hope the circuit is something like Grand Valley! ;)

TM

I usually give my self 45 minutes(Or 20-25 laps) without ghost, as the first session, then after a break I load up my best time and then go for a bite.
But at street tracks there seems to be a little luck involved, so its not so good in that enviroment.

By the way,I slapped in a new best with the castrol.A blitzfast 3rd sector. :sly: a slow ghost

Had a quick try a this today (8 laps) and improved my time by 3 secs between lap 1 and lap 8.
I'm actually try to find out the optimum drift level. It seems that locking the wheels can help in the tight turns as long as it stays within reasonable proportions.
I'll have another practice session and submit tomorrow evening.

I just put down an awesome lap and then in section 18 alone I lost .2 on my previous best.

I still pulled out of it with a better lap than my previous but with margin that was far less than it should have been. :irked:

I doubt I will match it up again either just because Im headed out to party tonight and tommorow night will be primarily for my studies. :(

Still though, I believe that the lap I just put down could have been a great lap, instead it is only a good lap. :grumpy:

Oh well, I can live with it since I know I was close enough that eventually I will do something just like it again. ;)

Btw guys,
I'm really looking forward to getting T time discussions going in the results thread. 👍

I've been having a bit of the same problem Kent. I've been chasing a dirty lap that I did in my first session and still have only managed to get within .1 of it. I can usually beat it by .2 through T3 but I nailed the last section very well. I will be very disappointed if I can;t reach it.

Had some time to shake off the rust. After a few laps I put down a clean lap of which, if no improvements occur til deadline, I will submit anyways as I have not been part of the WRS for a long long time. And also because I believe it would be nice to take part in the 2nd year anniversary of the WRS along with the rest of you :)

I finally got a wheel today however because im not used to it yet ive only gotten within .3 of my best time which i know i can improve on

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have returned to a point where i can get the car to rotate into that first turn consistantly and i'm generaly on the plus side with T1's either equal too, or 1 to 2 tenths faster than my previous best. But that darn T2 and T3 are still giving me so much trouble. It's not that i'm making mistakes, i'm running a good line through it, but my ghost just pulls away like crazy. By T2 I'm back two to three tenths, and by T3 I'm down five to seven tenths. My fingers hurt. I usualy submit tonight, but I think I might give it a try again tomorrow. This would be the first WRS that I have run out of time on.

I'm thinking that this means you've enjoyed the race and can't get enough of it. :P

As for me, I'm done- I think. :sly:

Actually, I'm not sure if I will have time but hopefully I will get in some runs tomorrow.

In the mean time I hope that all of you have enjoyed the race.

We have enjoyed this race lots kent , best combo ive driven as of yet.

TY TM.

I did try the denso this morning, and just to complicate things it was .4 seconds faster, so now I have my new quick lap in the denso !!!

.4 is a lot of time really, Im not sure if it was the car or if I just managed to get a good lap, it looked good but its always difficult to put your finger on why you are faster.

I think I'll fair well in Div 2 this week, I'll put my neck on the line again and go for a podium finish (I hope!)

Wasted another hour on this last night, 👎 I just can't help myself when knowing there is more time to get. OK, so it's only another .350 for me, but in this case it's the difference between a podium place and nothing at all. I'm prepared to give it one more attempt tonight but instead of taking the 'calm' approach I will be adopting an 'aggressive' mode that is so needed for this course, I might even try wearing my glasses next time around ;)

My main problem area has been between T2 & T3, notably the lefthander between the two small tunnels. I’ve left .200 there on my PB and to have wasted so much in such a small area really sticks the knife in. This is very much like my old school reports; "These are pleasing reports but could do better if he was prepared to concentrate more in class" :dopey:
