Know what's funny, rat? I tried a vette and an NSX-R and did much better with the Vette. After reading your own sig you'd recognize the the (in)signifigance of this comment. lol

Anywho, the Corvette Z06 seems to be near perfect. You can get it right at 1250kg and the HP at 394 or so. Not to mention the handling! The low CoG and relatively tight suspension makes it a very fun ride and it stops on a dime! ...Almost. :-/

Ironically, my best time is in an RX-7 but I remember that run being less than...erm...safe. I had tons of problems with it bouncing and the rear wheels spinning but it's P/W ratio or maybe the gear ratio somehow seems to blow the vette out of the water! I think I'll look into that Saturday or Sunday.

I still don't know the best way to take the section between the hairpin and sector 2. :dunce: Losing so much time there, and the corner just after that. Anyways, I am finished for the night.

T1 - 30.363
T2 - 1'07.398

Div3, DS2, Nissan R390

I tried the Corvette Z06. Nice car but not my cup of tea. I am not skillful enough for it. I find R390 much easier to handle and is faster through the gears. Using Z06;

t1- 32.104
t2- 1'11.908

YAY! I'll be submitting a time this week since my favorite car is legal. :dopey:

T1: 38.918
T2: 1:26.093

I'm driving this, but in arcade mode.

Edit:
Arcade mode: 152hp/1701kg's
Fully tuned (285hp/1568kg's) in GT Mode it still only runs 30-31's/1'08-1'09's. :dunce:

Casio
Excuse me Mr R34, have you tried the R34 Skyline Pace Car? It's not a bad spin on this challenge actually.

Also, I can't believe I wasted 150,000 on a Mine's Evo, what a waste. It was a second slower then the Jaguar XKR....The jaguar which weights in at 1700kg!

hehe no sadly I haven't because I don't have it unlocked...I have driven the R390 and its an unbelievable car...I even messed around with the stock M3 with 399 hp and 1411 kg its a fun car too... --- Randy

P.S. To our British GTP friends....my condelences on Thursday's events...

Hmmm...disturbing to say the least, when I got that car as a prize in one of the events I almost threw my controller through the TV, what sort of a prize car is that!!!!

Having said that the wheels on it look quite nice :)

The Volvo is quite a spin when fully tuned, I also did that when I got it. I thought that car had to be some kind of joke, and could be stage 4 turboed to 6000hp. But alas, it can't even drift....

If only the 1886 carridges could get up a hill....

I might try the 2CV, and Midget I....

I gave the R390 5 quickie laps and I have to say, the Volvo is much more fun to drive in my heavily biased opinion. As a matter of fact, the R390 was a huge dis-appointment after driving the Volvo. :P

I'm happy a 240 is FINALLY in GT, but I'm really sad it got saddled with about 1000lbs more than it has in real life. Be great if you could tune them properly also as there are a lot of street driven ones in the real world with 400-600hp.

One thing I don't fully understand, maybe I'm just being stupid :sly: . But if you tune 2 cars to be 400HP and 1250kg, then the power to weight ratio's are exactly the same right ... and then if you put Sport Soft tyres on both, they should be even more exactly the same ... but how can one car (R390) be faster around the track than a NSX for example with the same specs ? Must be suspension or something ? Just wondering ... ??

bet my time by exactly .1 secs

T1 29.1xx
T2 1'04.399

i had T2 of 1'04.191 but i absolutely ****ed the last corner, and i almost broke my hand as i hit a solid table really hard. that was the one that got away. no more trying, time submitted

Awesome work holl01, I've been driving some nice laps but still unable to crack 1'06 at T2.

@kragbees
Downforce, centre of gravity, engine placement, power/torque curves, suspension, the list is endless as to why equal power to weight ratios would result in different track performance, whatever the case that R390 is a blast to drive.

does any one know if the nsx-r is any good??

p.s. our condelences to those who lost there lives yesterday in London and with there families

Ok, i'm starting to get used to my FFB wheel now.

Car: Nissan R390 GT1
Controller: JOYTECH WILLIAMS F1
T1: 0'31.653 👍 (fairly pleased with this one)
T2: 1'10.358 👎 (looking at luxy's board I had a faster T1 than a div 1 driver but dropped back almost 3 seconds by this point)

I ditto what R34JSE said. I respect everyone who chose not to drive yesterday out of respect.

Torque can make a big difference, and also, the car's handling in gt4 is modelled on the actual car's handling in real life, and there isnt one car out there that handles the same. Oh, yes, it could also be down to the suspension and the layout of the car, for example, where the center of gravity is in each car.

EDIT: ooops! sorry to double post.
Anyway, here are some new Sector Times:
T1: 0'31.083
T2: 1'09.893
Car: R390 GT1 Road Car

Ok.. since I know will not match prolly the top Div 3'ers ... Taking a Zonda C12 '00 for a spin this week.

T1 : 33.778
T2 : 1' 15.853

Sorry to be a post whore but here are some new Ts. I ownt post any for a while now:
Car: Nissan R390 GT1
T1: 0'31.365
T2: 1'09.074

Still with the Spirit R RX-7. (DS2/Div 2)
T1 - 31.937
T2 - 1'11.174

I've pulled 31.403 and 1'10.120 section times but lost control going over the incline right before the last turn.

Thanks guys, just like I thought ... was just curious about all this ... I guess GT4 is more complex than I thought ! Only reason for same power to weight ratio cars being faster/slower is because they did actually model it against the real life cars ... well ... maybe not ALL 700 ... for sure not every single bloody Skyline haha.

yeh mind you, The skylines probably have pretty similar performance to each other. But I know what you mean, like with the Nike car, not that I care if that handles nicely.

A myriad of differences, yeah, such as suspension, torque, torque and power curves (where is the power band), gearing, CoG, drivetrain (e.g. RWD will always be faster through corners than FWD, all else being equal), engine type (rotaries are notorious for outperforming their numbers for example), tire size, I mean the list is endless.

In GT4, with my RX-8 I've beaten a variety of cars with equivalent or even superior power-weight ratios simply by out-pacing them through the turns.

Hope that helps 👍

I think i might use the Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac.

We'll see.

Yesterday in London sucked, and we are all slightly pre-occupied by it, not to mention the fact that everywhere you go, everyone you see, is talking about it.

Lets hope G8 will get some matters resolved at least.

It could have been worse, we could have found bombers/bombs in the "Live8" crowds.

See you next week.

:irked:👍

First want to add my sympathy to all those affected by the London bombings, I pray for strength to all those families affected.

I'll also congratulate the English Cricket team for beating us quite soundly last night, hope they continue the pressure into the Ashes.

Today has been a surprising day for me. I'm a teacher so am currently on holidays which is nice in itself but here's the list of surprises I encountered today, in order:

Surprise #1: It's raining cats and dogs!
Apart from not having to do anything so not having to be bothered by torrential rain, it's falling in catchment areas which Australia needs, so that's groovy.

Surprise #2: My new monitor arrived!
After looking at a screen that was becoming increasingly blurred I ordered a new 20 inch widescreen LCD monitor from DELL (my biggest online purchase yet!) and I got it today (about a week earlier than I expected). So after setting that up I promptly put a GT4 photomode pic up as my new backdrop and the Falken Skyline stretched out to widescreen looks awesome!

Surprise #3: My Monitor supports High Definition TV
Which again is nice in itself but my best mate knows heaps about electrical gear and is gonna help me find a set top box for it tomorrow

Surprise #4: I beat my lap around El Capitan finally
Not once, not twice but three times! My new splits aren't better than I've already posted but I'm getting around the track with some consistency now, I even hit T1 at 0'29.878 once (but promptly forgot Casio's rule about not running into mountains!)

Surprise #5: I got my MaxDrive!
Just as I was checking my new lap for cleanliness, my sister walks in with the mail and what should have arrived but my groovy new MaxDrive!!! It's sopping wet and I'm thinking that can't be good, but lucky for me it comes completely sealed. So I put the disk into the Playstation and it won't read it because the laser in there starts off outside the edge of the MaxDrive's small CD?!? So I reached in there and pulled it back (probably not the brightest thing in the world to do) and it works fine now!

So I'm quite satisfied with what today had to offer. I do have a question though for anyone using a MaxDrive. How do you know what files you're copying off the PlayStation? The name means very little, the little picture isn't clear and I don't think the file size matches up either?

It sucks men.

I had achieved T1 of 29.8 and T2 of 1:06.1 but screwed it at the last corner. Everytime I have a good lap, I screw it at the last corner (in the right-left)

Yeah that right-left is a killer! Often I end up taking it entirely on the grass thus voiding a good lap. I find the real killer is the mountain though, I don't know how many times I've ended up with too little traction going over the top and ending up in the sand...I'm getting better at it though.

Got down to a 30.9 again for T1, which including stuffing up the chicane right before T1 (I was 2 car lengths infront of my previous 30.9 ghost up to that point...) I finally got into the 1:08s on T2!. I think there is at least .5 second on T1, and 1 second to be made up on T2...

I did get worried today, as I did 73 non-stop laps (I was bored alright), and on about lap 54 it said (Reply Save Full) or something like that, and I freaked the whole time about if my ghost would save if I pulled a huge time out of my ass...

Lucky it did.... 👍

Well, look like you'll be staying in after class to study then

Here's my 10 lines Mr. Casio:

"I shall not run my R390 into the side of a mountain."

I feel your pain r0gu3. I also deleted my Ghost where I got to T2 fastest.

That poses a question though, do you guys prefer to chase your ghost or lead it? I'm undecided as to which circumstance I work better in
