Grrr... :ouch:
I just wasted another 0'34.797 @ T2 🤬

I know the lines I have to take, I know where to brake, where to turn, where to floor it. But it just happens the way I want it once every 1-2 laps on a given turn - now, putting all that together for the whole lap... :D

But when I'll do it... 👍
(more like - if I'll do it)

I'll get it, sooner or later.

EDIT: Maybe I should give up the Viper and try again in the GT? The problem is that I don't even know how to start a drift, much less control it...

thankfully, you don´t need to drift...itys one way of getting, but not the only...

i just had a 17´817 split, and i was not drifting (with the GT) until today, i was having trouble, stuck with 18´0 at T1 nothing i did could get my time lower, but, after a lot of wasted laps, i realised one of the most obvious things in racing, (at least in this week´s combo) but sometimes we need to see our own ghost running away to prove us.

you have to be 100% gas, or 100% brake, what was killing my times was the fact that i had some "cruising" moments, when i just let go the gas.

i was wrong.

now, its rather easy for me to get to 17´9, then 34.
in the last our i already wasted 4 or 5 laps when i was .3 or .4 ahead of my ghost.

it seems like everytime i see something blue behind the split time, my heart starts to beat faster and then i blow the lap in the very next corner... :banghead:

if it wasn´t for that fu 🤬 corner after T2...

anyway, i don´t get my butt of the chair until i get 52. remember, gas or brake, i just have to calculate how much you are going to need of either one, no cruising or coasting.

ill be back soon with my new splits... (or not so soon the way i´m blowing laps) 👎

I see what you are saying. That's what I have been doing too: brake for 2/5 of the curve, cruise for 1/5, and floor it for the remaining 2/5.
If I could get rid of that 1/5 "idle" time, then it would be easier to get below 18 seconds. As of now I can get 18.1xx's pretty consistantly, 18.0xx's once in a while. Only once was I able to get into the 17.9xx's.

I blew a 34.880 and a 34.797 (both with the Viper!!!) due to that 🤬 corner... I know how you feel.
I am not giving up until I see a 52 @ T3 :sly:

Thanks for the advices, by the way.
Guess it's time to take the GT for a spin.

The Wizard.

and just when i thought i couldn´t be more stupid, i blew another good lap...

this time, i had a 52´891, but then...

i went out of bounds in the turn after T3... finish the lap and improve my time still, but not a clear lap 👎

:banghead:

well, at least i know now that the 52´s are just a matter of time...

back to the GT... or the Viper... or...

(the week is going to finish and i still don´t know if its better to go with the GT or the Viper... :dunce:

Well, I finally managed a clean, complete lap (in the Viper), in which I improved my final time by almost 0.3, with a T3 of 0'53.249 (0.2 faster than my previous one).

The sad (or funny, take your pick) thing is that I got it with these miserable splits:

T1: 0'18.246 :yuck:
T2: 0'35.189
T3: 0'53.249

I just did some calculations and those are my best sector times ever (in a clean lap).
If only it wasn't for that 18.2 :ouch: :banghead:

I tried the GT, but I can't even break 18.1xx at T1.
Guess I'll stick with the good ol' ugly Viper :D

I will make it!

Well, I've been trying to get back to racing....I've only completed 25% of the game, so my car selection is quite limited. I only have the Camaro for this competition and I know it's not the hot ticket. But, I'm so rusty....it really wouldn't matter anyway! :)

Laguna Seca has always been one of my weakest tracks....so far, with about an hour of 'trial and error' (mostly 'error'):

Camaro LM 605hp @ 1044 kg.

T-1=18.591
T-2=36.189
T-3=55.091

I'm real rough everywhere in T-2, and T-3....I'm hoping to find a pattern to improve those sectors. :dunce:

It seems I can't leave you Div 2 drivers alone....you go and get faster!

I haven't touched this since Thursday, and it took me a very long time to get down to my previous splits.

But I did improve them. :)

In the Ford GT

T1: 18.218
T2: 35.351
T3: 53.798

And improved my final time by .6

I can see an easy .5 sec improvement in the time by eliminating mistakes, which I'll then be happy with.

I've always disliked Saguna , but now after my first 2 hour session, I'm kinda liking it, much better then GT3. Gonna work a little bit more, but I have 5 saves within 1/2 sec. of each other... guess I've got about my best... barring a fluke. The following times won't get me in the top 20

18.371
35.914
54.245

WRS Div2, Viper,DFP

did u not read my post some time ago, the gt ford is better tyhan the viper by about .3 to .4, there is no way the viper can do a t3 of 52.461, which i achieved with the ford, so everyone, use the gtford from now on if anyone is still using the viper that is

will have some more laps soon

Like I said, should have STUCK with the Ford. Unfortunately I've invested a huge bucket of time with the Viper whittling down my splits to halfway decent levels, and the time it's gonna take to get used to the new car is probably more than I have. Gonna have to make the best of the known (if inferior) tool.

I love how this has come full circle though. Ford's gotta be the fastest (MR), but easy early splits went the way of the Viper, then a mass exodus from the Blue Oval camp, then YOU gotta go and ruin it for everyone! :^)

Okay hOt, go chase holl so I can see an NTSC GT "hot"lap!

Can somebody tell me if this is legal?
It is the straight before turn 1, between the signs 3 and 2.
On the right of the white line is regular track asphalt, on the left the darker tarmac.

That's the location in which the car tires are the closest to the line (and therefore to crossing it completely).

Is the lap clean? I remember in multiple other occasions people saying that as long as 1 part of the tire (whether it is the whole tire or one billionth of it) is in contact with the track or a legal surface, then the lap is legal. I just wanted to make sure this applies to this situation as well.

Thanks.

The Wizard.

Your lap is very clean, you only need to have the tiniest amount of tires still in contact with the line, so you're good to go as far as I know...

Ummmm... Wasn't that DIRTY? 💡

That's what I figured too, but I wanted to be completely sure before I submitted a lap that could be considered illegal.

I will still try to improve my lap time, but it seems I might have reached my limit.
It's good to know I don't have to throw away the lap I have :D

yes, i was very impressed with that time... since last night i only ran with the GT... i couldn´t get 17´8 with the viper, that was the main reason... and since i blew a 52´7 i know what that car can do... the handling is far superior...

i think in the top 5 spots, maybe 4 will be GT´s...

also, i´m not a big fan of vipers, and last night was my last run with then...

Wow, this thread seems to have really dropped down on the chit-chatting over the weekend... Where'ed everyone go? Racing? Vacation?

Anyway, spent a good few hours on it tonight, wasn't planning on improving too much, just wanted to see if I could manage something before I actually got some sleep and REALLY started trying... So, here's what I came up with for now:

Viper, 599hp, 1035kg, 370kmh gearing
T1: 18.058
T2: 35.157
T3: 53.334

I've seen 18.014 once, and promptly killed it next corner, I can do 18.0xx often enough though. I messed up the turn right after T1, so I know I've got a tenth or two to catch back up there, tomorrow. My T2 is about the fastest I've seen I think, I might've seen a 35.0xx once, can't remember for sure, oh yeah, I did, but I slowed down too much, or went wide??? So not really I guess. I have another spot other than after T1 where I know I left a tenth or two on the table as well.

So my goal for tomorrow, which will be my first session with adequate sleep since the beginning of this week, will be to chop at least .2 off my final time. With this run I chopped off .3 from my previous split's final time.

Also of note, my current fastest time is only about .3 ahead of my earlier fastest lap that had a T2 that was a full .6 slower, so that shows I've got even more left in there if I can hit the 'screw perfectly like I did on that lap...

That's damn quick KLR...can't believe you were ever Div 3

I can't put any laps in today, my hands are sore, I'm getting cramps coming down the main straight...maybe tomorrow

I can, it was the same story when I was in D3 and enjoyed the combo and spent the time on it. I knew from the start that I hadn't spent enough time on the Qualifier, I didn't know what I was getting into... I won my second week, I don't think I did that well overall though. But other weeks, I've been decently fast overall, usually placing in the mid-upper ranks of D2... I've had a couple weeks where I was in the top 15 fastest overall, and one where I was in the top 10...

MinorShunt
In the Viper still...

T1: 18.257 :ouch:
T2: 35.464 (almost gave up on the lap at this point)
T3: 53.270 (how did that happen???)

The only problem with this lap, is that even if I beat the T3, I probably won't beat that T2-T3 split. It was freakin' awesome!

So......back to you Z my friend. :sly:

Those are very nice Viper splits. Well done! Just had a little time to get some laps in this morning and have decent splits for the Viper and the GT, now.

Ford GT LM Spec-II
T1: 18.199 (yea, ugh.)
T2: 35.074 (pickin' up the pace.)
T3: 53.158 (i'm starting to like this car. will try to improve this today.)

Dodge Viper GTS-R (Team Oreca)
T1: 18.056 (saw 17.933)
T2: 34.983 (saw 34.867)
T3: 53.250 (gonna be very close unless one of us improves, my friend.)

Back to you. ;)

just weird... friday i had a T3 of 53´042 with the viper... than last night i had 53´085 with the GT but improved my final time by 0´3... :)

well, tonight is the last go, with the GT for sure... :dopey:

man, its very close... there´s 10 drivers or so with 53´3 - 53´0 range... i just hope i can break the 52´s or have a killer T3 - finish section...

I know that I can improve by at least .4 seconds, but I went out of town this weekend and didn't get to put any more time in. I might have to sacrifice sleep tonight, because I'm not done yet. I also wish I had some time to put in on the GT, because it looks like everyone is having good luck w/ that, but it might be too late for me to make any major improvements in the GT.

Drew22
Good, I thought it was just me.

nope, you're not alone... its definately tail happy.
but thats just a *feature* of mid-engine cars.
i also despise the engine sample... sounds horrid.
so thats another good reason to use the viper. ;)

Very nice Z! Looks like we will go down to the wire! :)
I'm not getting any real joy out of the GT, so I'm stickin' with the Viper to the bitter end.

BTW my best clean Viper T3 is now 53.119. I had a 52.927 but really screwed up the last turn, so......hope I will get to make one more run tonite!

And so, back at you again sir! :sly: Been fun racin' with you this week! 👍

Just wanted to drop in and give you all a heads-up.

Basically, today was my first day back to school and it is going to kill my time. :(

This will be my last week as a WRS organizer.
(:( for me)
( for many of you )

My class schedule has me in new orleans at 8 am tuesday and thursday. :irked:

That means tomorrow the results will be posted in the late afternoon. :indiff:

Sorry for the problem this will create but don't worry, CFM is on point.👍

Anyway, good luck in the race, talk to you all tomorrow. 👍
Till then,

Meh, so much for sleep helping me out. I'm just not feeling it right now, don't feel the push, and am not very consistent right now for some reason, I don't know why. I can gain on my ghost in more places than I thought, but I guess I'm just seeing the lines that Hotboi or Holl would be taking, not necessarily something that I can take myself... Maybe tonight I'll be in the mood. Hopefully.
