Oh boy, looks like a great racing week.
Shame is that i don't have these cars for the moment in arcade. :indiff: :guilty:

So no racing for me. :banghead:

Lewie
Yep. I know that ASM and TCS really slow me down, which is why I'm working on driving sans aids.
Glad to know i'm not the only one that uses a DS2 with aids on, using automatic transmission. I too have been working on driving without aids (I went without this week). Good luck!

Lewie
@Weary: I submitted my qual lap without really trying. I didn't think it would be this competitive. Needless to say, I've started trying and really improved my driving at the same time.

@Androos. Yeah, that lap time is still w/ aids on and in auto. I'm only running T3's of 54.1's w/ aids off and in auto. (manual is too much for now, I'm still trying to learn my DFP at the same time.)

I'm sorry but I find that so hard to believe. :odd:

I cannot wait to see your replay next week.

my splits on viper team oreca using my beloved thumb aching standard PS2 controller

i should use the ford GT 👍

Hey all, back in the day light here and if my arms weren't numb from doing the lawn I would certainly be doing some laps. :ouch:

On that same note,
Great lap times everyone. 👍

Hotboi as usual your lap looks to be shaping up really well.

Lewie, big suprise from you.
Like I said before, just keep it clean and get that replay device (that I believe you said you have already ordered).

Also, on that note
I heard from Fasj and he said his max drive is on the way. 👍
(correct me if that is wrong, could be thinking of someone else  )

Anyway, I'll be back in later today... For now I've gotta run. :(

Back in a little while though. :D
Till next time,

My hat is off to you guys. Your split times are sickening. I am humbled by your abilities.

(removes hat and bows in respect to his younger competitors)

I used to think I was pretty decent but now I realize I am middle of the pack in D3 (slower than the average GT player :grumpy: ). I've given myself every possible advantage: DFP, a cockpit style seating position, no driving aids, manual tranny and the best I can do in the Viper is T3: 55.562. I know there is still time left in the competition but it would be miraculous if I was able to trim even 1 sec off my time. I can't believe you guys are able to post the times your getting with DS2, driving aids on....I must truly suck. I bet if I ran the Viper with max HP and min Wt I would still be slower than you guys & girls. I may try that just for giggles. This is only my 2nd week competing but I'll keep trying.....maybe there should be someway of handicapping you guys so that I at least have a chance...

my overall lap time has been improved by 2 tenths but all of my T times were 2 tenths slower.

Bizarre

Same old Song and Dance, eh? I think everyone (with few exceptions) thought they were pretty good at first, until they find this site or gttimes or gtrp or house of gt etc....Just keep at it week after week man and you WILL IMPROVE. I started out in the exact middle of D2 from my qualifying race and now I manage to be in the top 7 (with few exceptions...again). Just remember, what you put into WRS, you get out of it.

My cow-worker went to the US and I asked him to bring me 2 ARM! I got one myself and sent the other one to fasj! Tracking says it will be delivered tomorrow! :)

on that note, I hope to need my max drive soon, if you know what I mean... :D

Will give the combo a try tonight, once I don't have time to play during the week no more :(

Interesting food for thought, the lap time for a Team Oreca Viper in 1997 around Laguna was 1.25 flat.....

I have had a nightmare with this and have resorted to using the auto transmission and ASM/TCS controls, i have NEVER used these in GT4 and was pained to do so, however since starting the WRS the painfull reality has hit home that i am not as good at driving laps in GT4 as i thought i was! And for this weeks session i have found that by using the aids available my T times have come down to something im happy with and i almost have a submittable time too...

Question is why do i feel so bad using TCS/ASM, after all its helping me concentrate on racing lines and braking points so im learning all the time, and after all its no worse that an F1 car having TCS and auto gears is it? Thoughts???

f1 doesnt use auto gear-boxes anymore~

Are you trying to make me feel worse or just state a fact about F1?, i thought they were still using auto to shift up the box this season, maybe the Uk commentators got it wrong?

Hey MinorShunt, do u and icemanshooter get together and race from time to time? Just saw ur both from Wisc. was gonna go to school there but I had a better track offer here locally ;).

Hey jump. Now I get it! High jump? Vaulter? Long? What school were you looking at? And if you don't mind, where are you now?

And unfortunately I don't know the iceman except by reputation (FAST!). I'm kinda new here, and sometimes I can't be real consistent in keeping track of the board, so don't know a lot of folks yet. (this week i'm in the office "working" :sly: ) Wisconsin is really big, and I live really far north in the sticks!

I just finished a one and a half hour session.
I tried the GT @ 290 for a few laps, but it handles so much worse than the Viper almost by the same quantity by which it looks better than the latter :D

I got some new interesting splits on a nice, clean lap (Viper @ 300):

T1: 0'18.090 (seen 0'17.9xx)
T2: 0'35.065 (seen 0'34.9xx)
T3: 0'53.449 (seen 0'53.2xx, with a T2 of 0'35.2xx)

Despite this lap being only 0.133 faster than the last one I posted, the final lap time was a whole 0.447 faster - therefore I must have nailed the last turn before the straight that leads to the finish line.

I am kinda disappointed, since I should have been able to reach into the 52's at T3, with splits like that, but the week isn't over yet :sly:

That's all, for now.

The Wizard.

Hey guys you are not alone ;) Im also using AT and DS2 (no tcs and asm though) i know that this way i want make it to D1 ever but i just cant swich to MT - shift up is not a problem but breaking, shift down and thinking about perfect line at the same time - that is difficult grrr :/
BTW small improvement from my said:

T3: 54.0~

(i will edit that post with T1 and T2 tomorrow morning)]

Unfortunately i have lost 0,2 during the last turn on my best lap (nervousness :/)

Yeah u got the idea MS, I got my name from a kinda stoner friend I had in high school, back in the day I used to win all 3 jumping events (long, triple and high) and he said I was a 'jumping ace' and I thought of shortening it to 'jump_ace' and my coach in High School made me a t-shirt (that someone STOLE... :grumpy: ) that said jumpace on it. Since then I have used jump_ace for my GT1 2 3 Prologue and now 4 replay names....lol. I got a scholarship to go to U of W in Madison, but I chose to go to a smaller college (because I HATE crowded OVERLY crowded rooms like hundreds in a lecture hall for example...lol). So now I'm over by Salem Oregon where I grew up, plus a little time in Citris heights in kindergarden ;) I just realized I should have pm'ed u this o well sorry guyz!

hey folks, I am having a hard time to understand my Action Replay Max... can somebody please check the Max Drive thread and help me?! Thanks!

Ford GT

T1 - 18.213
T2 - 35.895
T3 - 55.143 (Yeah, I stuffed it up.....)

But Lewie....Don't think you've got Division 3 wrapped up yet...

Although...I'm 90% sure you have...those are some killer times

Every time I work one section out I forget how to drive another:

T1: 18.455
T2: 35.646
T3: 53.898

I've sort of worked out T1 - T2 but now I'm struggling to break 18.4 at T1 ???

I also tried with all the aids on (Lewie style) and I couldn't even break 19 at T1

had a 4 hour long session with the ford gt and its definitely better than the viper by a good half a sec

17.785
34.589
52.461

lost .15 at the last as i chocked really hardcore, was fairly dissapointed with myself after doing that as my T3 was something i didnt think possible

Ok, it's settled, I'm using the Viper at full power... :-D When I get to run it some more that is...

dont u mean the FORD at full power :)
to get a 17.7xx at T1, u need to drift the first corner, and to get a t3 of 52.461, u need to get lucky with the braking at the corkscrew, basically, set the ford to 280 gear set, and thats the optimal car and setting for this week, 1st corner, the line-u hit tag 5 and go between sign one and 2, brake and induce a slight drift (in second) and force the car through, 2nd corner, in 4th at 130km/h, 3rd, in 5th, at 180km/h, 4th corner, induce slight drift in 4th, for the fast right, take it at 180 in 5th, the corky, take in 3rd, and change to 4th b4 u exit the kink to get momentume and prevent wheelys :dopey: for the double right, engine brake down to 4th (tap the brake whilst accelerating) at 165km/h and hit 5th as u exit, for 2nd last corner, drift in 4th, and for last, brake b4 second last little sign, and try and induce a slight drift, take in third, but 2nd gear if u feel like it, too bad i just lost the plot in that corner, there will always be a next time though 👍

Nah, I originally downed the power in my Viper because people were saying it had an advantage over the other cars. I was and am set on using it because it's the car I like the most. Usually I wouldn't care this much and WOULD make a run in the fastest car, but I like the Viper a lot more than the other cars, so I'm going to stick with it. I'll be competitive enough :) 👍 . And it looks like I have a couple hours before I have to do anything tonight(cleaning the room can come later... hah), so I'm going to hop in right now...

NICE freaking laps by the way, lol.

OK I just put down a 1.5 hour session and came away feeling good:

T1: 18.200
T2: 35.299
T3: 53.397

Total time wasn't as good as those numbers will lead you to believe because I botched the T3 -> Finish. I am struggling with those corners for some reason.

Anyway, there's more time tomorrrow and lots more on Sunday. I hope to be down to at least 53.0XX by the time the deadline comes around.

Ok, now I'm annoyed. After two hours of running, I FINALLY beat my 588hp lap time... I was trying out the 300 gearing, and I can see how it has the possibility of being faster, but I just can't control the car well enough with the DS2 to make advantage of it. So I brought it to the 370 that I was using in the 588hp car. Anywho, I can see where I left a little bit here and there on my previous fast lap, and yeah. So, where I'm at now is every time I get ahead of my current fastest, I botch it at the STUPID FREAKING kink before the uphill leading to the corkscrew. Holy cow I hate that turn in GT4. Maybe 20% of the time I can get around it, but 5% of the time fast. And that's only if I can get that far anyway! BLEH!

So, if I can put it together, I can see me chopping another .3 or so off my final time. And going through the corkscrew fast is a bit more based on luck for me than I'd like... This week is about being able to utilize partial throttle with the DS2 for me...

I'll post splits when I'm done for the night, which will be in less than an hour... *crosses fingers for a satisfying lap*
