And you put up these times? With a 599hp Viper?

Hmmm...

I'm getting my MAX drive this week, so I will prove my times. I'm trying to get that promotion (I didn't exactly have a good showing in the qualifier)!!!

And I still see room for .3-.5 improvement….gonna put in some more work tonight!!!

heres a cool little stat for you guys

1:07.722 Helio Castroneves ( this is the track record for laguna seca )
done in a 900hp C.A.R.T car

this track record didnt even get beat when ferrari brought out the 2002 f1 car to the track
(not too sure what year the ferrari was)

While i get myself in the mood for taking the Viper out for a spin,
i thought that i would help out everyone who is getting either confused with the corner names/numbers or just can't be bothered to type laguna seca into google and pull up a track map.......

So here it is!

I saw how close I was to you after a few laps (had a T3 of 53.6) and just had to keep trying for it. Somewhere in all that, I saw a 53.284, but couldn't put it together at the end. Still lots of time out there as I know I left ~.3 @ T2. Honestly, my biggest problem is the final corner. It appears to veer slightly right and uphill, but I have a bad habit of riding close to the line for a wide entry and just catch the outside tires in the sand. :sigh:

Sorry to hear that matie, mine went t*ts-up about wk 3 and had to use an Uber-save to play WRS. Thankfully it hasn't happened again, but i have used the Maxdrive to back-up my current ( Start from scratch, 100% win,80 gold) GT4 game-data to the pc so if it happens again i can restore it to the second memorycard i bought solely for running my GT-mode game!

Since I was doing the GT World Championship when this race was announced, I decided it was a sign that I had to use the Ford GT

And I have to say, the Ford is MUCH easier to drive than the NSX I drove in the JGTC series race here.

Had a quick go at 290 top speed, big mistake. The powerband is not that high up, and the gearchange is too slow to make use of it. So with top speed at 350 km/h and using it as a 5 speed:

T1: 18.295
T2: 35.393
T3: 54.072

In the Ford GT.

There is quite a bit more time there, so I don't think I'll bother with the viper at the moment. I've seen a 18.1xx at T1 and a 35.0xx at T2 (then I stuffed the corkscrew ) I've found this track to be one where you keep finding little chunks of time everywhere; it needs a vast amount of practise.

And, like Lewie, I've ordered my max drive. We'll see which one arrives first

Ok did some laps yesterday night in the Ford GT, and i just remember some of the split times. Will post them now, and so when i get home i will post them exactly without the "xx", because im at college now.

Didn´t test another car tho.

Hehe yes i see at least some 0.6 to improve yet. With this, i will get to break the first barrier i want to. The second barrier will be some hard, but im keen that i will break it. 👍

I also played just 1 hour yesterday, so today i will try to break these 2 barriers. 👍

I do have the knowledge, although I would MUCH rather spend my time doing other things.

Here's my newest splits, I'm FINALLY coming around on this track, I recall back in the glory days of GT2, this license test was a real pain. And maybe it was in GT3 as well? Don't recall 4 sure, but honestly now that I am racing OLR, I actually enjoy this combo ESPECIALLY after last week....lol. No offense CFM Much improvement to be done at the corscrew as I can see on the leaderboard I am like .4 ahead of fasj at T2, but then behind AFTER T3..... I dunno if I'll race anymore tonite guyz, but 'I'm Lovin' It'.

Good times mate, and it was just an idea. Thought it would be quite time consuming to do, but it mite be fun!

Still getting used to the Viper, LOVE the GT tho!

Maybe it's the biker in me, or the Brit in me ( We do have the heratige to say we are the country that produces the 'finest' MR road cars in the world........Jeremy Clarkson and The Hamster say so......so Nuh!)
BTW bikes and MR cars corner pretty much similar.

The GT loves to be pushed hard into and out of the corners, riding the limits (floats like a butterfly), but the Viper still understeers on the brakes too much for my liking(floats like a blancmange), but i have to admit it is faster overall.

didnt quite hit the second barrier i was aiming for, came awfully close, using 280 gear setting, and i pretty much drifted every corner, including the corkscrew. drifting pays off, i can see myself beating my time easily with the ford as the ford can drift with much more control IMO
than the viper
