Actually, I'm not sure about that, in fact I think it's the opposite - the game "smooths" the motion of the stick, so I think there's a maximum turning velocity when you flick the stick all the way left or right. (The fact that there is a steering sensitivity setting seems to back this theory up.)

With a wheel, the response is likely instantaneous. I suspect it's the smoothing (slowing down) applied to the DS3 that protects you from "jerky" steering mistakes and overcorrections.

Anyway I think I'll give this challenge a try myself tonight... but even with my DS3 "advantage" will probably be quite a few seconds off :D

That's the beauty of this, many of us know we're not the fastest around, but this is a fun and casual way of seeing just how you compare and some healthy competition with the people with times similar to yours on a week-by-week basis :)

I'm wondering where OK8_ has wandered off to this week

I suck at this..... a bit of time off but nowhere near the rest.

One thing is for sure. Wheels really don't make you quicker. I'm seeing a lot of DS3 users in the low 40's or even high 30's.

I noticed that as well, I just find a wheel is so much more fun and immersive, and I don't see how people find it fun to mash a button and some sticks, no offense to you DS3 users, but if you ever have the will and the budget to get a decent wheel, trust me you won't look back.

I use DS3 and the precision that I've managed to obtain through more than a decade of playing is more than enough. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to play with a wheel instead. Even if I would be slower, that "immersion" that you mention is worth it.

The only problem is that I can't really justify spending on a wheel and seat since I don't really play that much. I rather buy another console, upgrade my computer or buy a bunch of other games.

After another 5 laps or so managed to cut a few hundredths off my time.

Driver: LMP787B/Ld_headshot
Time: 1:39.248
Transmission: Auto ( will start practising manual when dfgt comes later this week)
Controller: DS3
ABS: 1

Lost about 4 tenths on the longer left hander after tunnel, but a good first sector and end of the lap means I just beat my ghost. I see a 1:38.5 with a perfect lap. But still its an improvement! :)

That's a good point.

It was a bit of a crazy one, was smoking up the rubber I should uploaded it so the corner cut police can check it out.

We tend to work on a trust policy here buddy. If GT says it's clean and the driver feels it's clean then that's good enough for us.

If it turns red then it's an obvious no however lol.

If you wanna upload the replay though it is good for others and yourself for tips and improvements :)

Got home form the gym and tried a few laps (tired biceps on a wheel is no fun)

Done edited post, now has link in post and yes lap isn't red but I was pushing the car and the limits LOL.
I drive in car view and it felt ok. This was on cold tyres 1st lap after restart.

Thanks mate, hows it going for you? :)

I´doing ok, had a another run of 15 laps and several of them was 1:39.xxx, so I´more consistant than earlier. Hopefully I will see 1:38 soon. :)

Hope it works first time I tried to link video
First lap outside cameras, second lap in car view.

Nice drifting right before the tunnel there :D

Nice one :D, hopefully I'll break into the 38's tomorow with a bit of luck :)

Oh this is a heavy car to haul around this track

Took me several tries before I could survive the first sector, then another 8 or 9 laps to get a 1:40.834. It's got an easily beatable first split, but I can't hang on for the rest of it. :ouch: Made me realize how much I don't know about this track.

I used DS3, auto, ABS 1.

I'm going to try it in a few minutes to see if I can at least get to the 39's. I hope so.

Definitely heavy. You can see it (and feel it) bounce around the whole spring travel. I actually like it! It absorbs Trial Mountain's irregularities and it isn't that unstable as it might seem.

Good car/track combo. I'm sure I have at least 1.5 seconds left in me.

Question: how "solid" is the yellow area between the two tunnels? As long as its not red?

Heavy car but not nearly as hard on my knuckles as last weeks challenge.

After watching several of the videos here its clear to me that all of my time is getting eaten up in between the tunnels. I take that turn clean but then have no speed at all on exit (at least it seems)...

Gonna try this again when I can and throw it into that corner to try and carry more speed. Thanks for the video lessons ;)

I was .677 ahead at sector 1 and .244 ahead at sector 2 on separate runs. So I'm sure I can improve another .900 at least.

Still liking the Car/Track combo.

That is precisely why I advised people upload them if they can :) always good to learn!

As far as GT goes, the yellow bits are track (same goes for the big left after the back straight)

After a late start I'm back for this weeks competition!
Good to see so many entries this early in the week.
I see it's not getting easier to get to the top 10 this week, so I guess I'll just have to keep practice.

Here's my first entry:

Driver: Tintorera/Tintorera
Time: 1:38.953
Transmission: Manual (No clutch used)
Controller: Wheel (G27)
ABS: 1

Driver: FormulaC/FormulaC
Time: 1:41.626
Transmission: Manual
Controller: DFGT
ABS: 1
I only have times for 5 laps, there are a lot of fast guys this week almost 5s off the leader crazy.

Have updated the sheet with the recent times.

Just about to have a stab myself, so in about half an hour or so expect to be one position lower than you were!

Or alternatively, feel free to laugh in about half an hour or so when I fail! :D
