Well guys I just finished up some stuff and got my PS2 back. . . The 13b is coming back to throw a little reign on your parade. . . I'll be joining next week it looks with my current situation, but I might have time to throw some laps down at the end of this week :D

hey AO, watch out, that 13b is right in your rear view :D

EDIT: I just noticed something, I vaguley remember reading something about this here too. Do the AI cars speed up on the final lap? Do they all of the sudden decide to step on the gas or make a clean line? I've done 5 races now and ALWAYS on the final lap that damn GTone of R390 come blarring up behind me no matter how much of a lead I have (between .800-2.7secs I've had...)....Also that GT40 is sure purty.....

I've noticed something similar. I've also done approx 5 races with the first one 10 sec slower than the best. That difference doesn't show up in my winning margin. I remember reading some discussions about, whether theres a catch up mode or not in GT3. But I can't remember if those discussions also was about the arcade mode or just simulation.

i did 3 races last night and for most of those race i was leading the others who were about .500-1.00. i managed to hold them off though. i did a flying lap in the third race that ould ahve replaced my personal best lap time but i went wide at the last turn, went way into the gravel trap and ****ed it up!!!(excuse me about the language!)

I think the AI cars adjust slightly to your times - unless you totally screw up ;)
I take them all into the first corner (or just exiting the first - it depends on what cars are in the race and what their grid position is) and then just run off into the distance. I usually finish well ahead no matter what the final race time is.

A.R.C starts on Monday and with finishing off the warm up races just now ... so looks like I wont be running this one! unless I can find a bit of spare time :) best of luck to all racers and stay clean 👍

Just to let you guys know, UB did a diablo series a while back and during that series suspicions of AI power changes came up.

In the end, no one found anything with hard evidence, however, we did come to the conclusion that there was a good chance of the hp multiplier changing in mid-race. Maybe after you pass all of the AI, maybe just after a certain lap, but it always boiled down to the AI not having a constant hp level.

I also want to mention that regardless of changing AI hp levels, the AI themselves may actually be super powered... when we did that diablo series, we ran a 539hp diablo in a bunch of the pro level japan championship races and when some of the people analyzed the AI from the replays it was found that the AI was running hp in the 700 area. (even though we were running in the 500 area)

So whats the point here?

The AI might not be consistant in its designation of hp. It may also change mid-race.

So keep an eye on them fellas and good luck racing. ;)

The last time the WRS went up against AI I noticed that my total lap time could be 2 seconds different and I'd still be the same distance out in front of the AI. They definitely adjust.

At one point when I was running laguna yesterday they adjusted right into my rear end. :) I took a turn badly and got smacked.

My guess is that if you're running well, the AI will be at arm's length behind you. If you're only running ok, the AI will be at arm's length behind you. If you're running badly the AI will adjust right into your rear end. :)

OK, I want to do a reminder/announcement.

This race is an arcade mode race in the arcade oreca viper against other cars in normal mode.

That means normal difficulty (3 laps).

Not a single lap.

This is not directed at any one of you since I have already had atleast 3 different racers submit hotlap times...

So, make sure you...

Go to arcade mode.
Select a single race.
Normal difficulty.
Laguna Seca.
S class Oreca Viper.

Good luck and god speed. :D

What about the possibility that the title is "titles coming soon." :P

I mean, it's not like I'm only here for 2 weeks, I've got weeks and weeks to come, so for now I was just getting you guys ready for the title comeback.

However, I haven enjoyed all the different titles. :D

ok did 3 races this morning... my lead during the 3 lap race varied between .7xx and 1.5xx secs. I think I have plenty of room for improvement tho, but I will submit incase i dont get another chance to run. :)

I ran 5 races last night...my spread between the final times was over 13 secs. No matter what my final time was i ALWAYS finished in front of the AI by .5-1 sec...so the AI do change speed, they have to to make up for that 12 second range......

more tonight I suppose in what i am calling "big dumb america race car at the dusty little track in California" rolls RIIIGGGHHHTTT off the tounge huh?

:P

What the haemhorraging **** is going on?

I go to Arcade mode Free Run, to have a quick whirl, and there is NO Oreca Viper GTS-R for me to pick... There's the GTS-R Concept, but no Oreca...

I've checked my PAL 100% game and my NTSC-to-PAL 229 day 100% game - neither of them have it.

HUH?

WTF? I'd love to know whats going on there, dont have a problem with mine at all, the Oreca Viper is there

Running T3's at 1:00.*** for the first lap and 54's for laps 2 & 3

According to my data, it should be there on 0% - it's not a prize Arcade car.

To quote the drifter's forum "OMGWTF!!!!!!!!!"

My Oreca has been suckinated into a black hole of oblivionationism!

And if that's not in for a GTP Quote Award next time, I don't know what is... :D

What are the cars either side of the Oreca in your S-Class garage? I'm very curious as to what's going on here...

For reference my garage, left-to-right, goes:
Calsonic GTR; Castrol Supra; ARTA NSX; Denso Supra; Loctite GT-R; Mugen NSX; C5-R; Astra; MR-S JGTC; Spoon S2000 Race Car; Viper GTS-R Concept; TVR Speed 12; Razo Silvia; Vertigo; Zonda LM; Panoz; R390 LM; TS020 GT1; 787B

"Big Dumb American Car"

Hmm...

I think the oreca is a great car, infact, I am willing to say it is one of my out-right favorites.

I can tell you this much, that big dumb american car can beat any of the gt cars besides the denso/castrol. (not counting the monsters like the gt-one.)

Anyway, keep at it fellas, and remember to try different groupings, has anyone found the zonda race in their group yet?

I haven't really gotten to run much yet, but I did take the time to start a few races and find out which combos work well... my suggestions...
Just try and get something were the front runners of the race start near you and not at the front. And watch out for that damn panoz. It can't race worth crap, but that first turn seems to print panoz on my car every time.

Good luck racers. ;)

I'm going for a cry now...

I hate everything.

You're asking to be slapinated... :D

Starting a scratch game, the Oreca IS present (between the Mugen NSX and the C5-R), but it's not on either of my memory card saved games.

One explanation presents itself:
My 2nd Memory Card holds my 229 game, which was converted from the NTSC so I could run in mph.
My 1st Memory Card currently holds another version of that, used to test various hybrid parameters (currently it's stuffed full with 45 different GT40 road cars, with different hybrid downforce levels). Again, an NTSC-to-PAL conversion.

The NTSC Arcade mode S-Class garage would have the icon, and indeed the car, "pointing" to the location on the disk occupied by the Dodge Oreca Viper GTS-R. The #91 Dodge Oreca Viper GTS-R. We don't have this car in the PAL region (we get the #51 car instead). The converted game is now "pointing" to a car which does not exist on the disk, so it ignores it...

Anyway, if I load a PAL game up, I can run the race happily. I've got 10 or 20 on disk - and I can upload my last 3 race replays for the WRS while I'm at it... :D

I'm still reasonably confusinated - and indeed bafflinated. I was under the impression that both cars - as with the P001-F094/S pair and P002-F688/S pair - occupied the same spot on the disk. Apparently they don't.

^ your situation is just to complicanated. . . Maybe get a micro-macro relocator and put it to the dome piece of the PS2 and that will resolve all technical issues you have Famine. . .
