As a division 3 racer I can say I can clear the first corner pretty easy, and clean. I'm in third place then. Because of my driving skills I am not in front until the first corkscrew, but that's being worked on... ;)

Okay, to start off with the T times discussion, here's the lower standard of division 3.
Code:
   | lap 1 | lap 2 | lap 3
---------------------------------
T1 | 26.246 | 20.706 | 20.331
T2 | 44.438 | 38.572 | 37.562
T3 | 1'04.140 | 58.023 | 58.913

Only 2 mild touches, no off tracks, but very slow times. From watching the replay you'd say I was drunk. Only the first corner line was nice, just shutting the door for the GT-one. In the last lap the GT-one tries revenge in the corkscrew, but I saw it comming in the mirror and avoided it, hence my lower T3 on lap 3.

Judging from the times I am improving lap by lap, so I'll keep at it. Saved this one to have one at hand...

edit: just got a 4 second better finishing time with a different grid. Guess it affects me too...

I have made important rules clarifications in the opening post of this thread as well as the suggestions box.

There is also a link to boom's rules on the subject.
That is what we are going by.
Avoid contact.
No contact that results in your advantage.
Atleast 2 wheels on.
No wall contact.

Good luck.
(I hope this finally clears it all up.)

Just started this one tonight. Lot's of technical rule stuff this week, didn't see a lot of sectors posted, though. It looks like I'm still a little ways off your times, famine.

Here's my clean race (this is one of my best replays from the entire WRS - very smooth, and the last lap was a personal best :D ) Had a little touch with the GT40 on lap one, turn one (he's on the outside and hits my right-rear quarter panel) but very minor.

Lap 1
0'25.237
0'41.640
1'00.142 (pb T3)

Lap 2
0'19.383
0'36.006
0'54.910 (almost fubbed the corkscrew and had to let off just for a sec)

Lap 3
0'19.228
0'35.893
0'54.401 (pb T3 54.2)

Anyone else lurking with some fast splits?

I'm lurking but I haven't had a single shot at this, havent tried yet, I'll do some racing sunday maybe, I'm busy with my studies:banghead:

Luxy, I'm sittin on some quick splits, but I think I'm just going to keep sitting on them. :) Yours are a little intimidating, I'm hoping you were slow on the last leg.

I managed a clean lap today with my best overall time. No AI contact, smooth, fast, damn pretty if I do say so myself. I think this may be the magical save that I submit this week. I know there's still at least .7 seconds in it, but I don't care enough to go get them - it would take me many moons.

Keep me in suspense, will ya  :D

Intimidating? My sectors? That's not something I thought I'd ever hear :D

Well guys, Im not gonna let the cat out of the bag, but I can tell you this... ODP stopped in the other day and I think I have an idea where he should be placing.

He is usually faster than me, so I know that right now, if he is running this, he is probably running times that the majority of us would think can't be done.

So without specifics, I just want to tell you guys to keep at it, and try running against the grid that has a panoz up front... if you run it right you can get past them all on the inside without any contact. Do that right and you will end up with a first lap t1 of 24.9/25.0.
But hey, thats just my advice. :D

Good luck.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention another little tip that could help some of the slower racers... try watching your replay from the front contender's view up to the first turn. It can help you to see where you have the time to slide in. (either on the entrance or exit) I watched it from the view of the panoz and gave me just what I needed to know so that I could slide down onto the inside... so good luck with it. :D

:( 25.2 is my bestest 1st lap T1. Set just now, as it happens.

Are we letting cone taps slide? I've found it very easy to clip one of the cones on the last corner, whilst still having all four wheels on track/kerb.

Yes, you can hit cones and as long as you are still on track you are fine.

btw, for you guys intrested, anything under 25.5 can lead to a 1.00.000.

So just keep working at it. ;)

I might join Famine from yester day with, ****ing god damn ****ers, cannt ****ing drive for ****e

Ahh, thats better :D
Lap times are similar to yesterday but Ive had an overall time drop by about 1.5 seconds

Well.....finally found sometime to play GT3 tonight, first time since Thursday night (it has been one BAD week)....I don't know what it is but my heart isn't in this one. I can admit I have grown to sorta really like the Viper (still big dumb american car, but a nice drive), Laguna I have always rather liked as a circuit and the AI - as lame as it is - once I figured out a grid I liked wasn't an issue. i would even give the actualy race a "fun" rating, once you get in a groove at Laguna, especially for a multi-lapper things feel smooth. So I did my best tonight, 8 more races making a grand total of 36 races or 108 laps + 14 in the free run mode (working on line) = 122 laps total, about 1/3rd the laps/time I usually put in for the weekly....

My prefered grid:
Panoz
Gillet
GT-One
R390
Camero
Me

Lap 1
26.102/42.800/1'01.357
Lap 2
19.757/36.546/54.941 (Personal Best for this week)
Lap 3
19.922/37.032/55.395

Fastest sectors all week*
T1=19.546 / T2=35.897 / T3=54.249

* I wish I could have stringed those three together in one damn lap!

The bestrun is nice and clean, no contact, no offs...I'm quite proud on the turn 1 "move" I use to pass the Panoz and GT-One. Given my heart ain't into this one I am proud of this run. I doubt I will have time to play tomorrow night so I am considering this run my final one. I'll submit the time tomorrow night just incase I do get home at a decent hour tomorrow night from the office.

I'm glad you found the time to get in a race, and a line to get something you are satisfied with.

I feel the same about the race too... at the begining of the week I thought the combo would be a great race, but as the week progressed I slowly lost intrest and when I tried to run today, the best I could do was run a fully tuned viper in free run for some fun laps.

Anyway, my final times aren't really impressive at all, but I think they are still in the low-div1/high-div2 range. (although that estimate may be a bit fast)

I still haven't gotten more than maybe 3 times from racers this week, so hopefully the turnout wouln't be that low, but I can understand if the week isn't a good one... multi-lappers seem to draw fewer participants.

I feel like next week's race is gonna be a fun one. Great for some of the amatuers & beginners. (div2&3) Plus it's a hotlap, So I'm looking forward to running a new race. :D

Talk to you all later.

Time submitted.
1'03.910
57.016
55.880
Made a couple of better races, but both of them had a small off (Actually the same place. The straight after the second turn. No panic, just plain sloppiness  )
Because of the final warm up to the ARC#2, I didn't have much time this week.

See you next week. :)

Time submitted 👍

Did so before a controller ended up through the TV screen, couldve run a lot faster than I submitted, just couldnt put it all together, this should sound familiar to the regular OLR guys Ive raced against for a while, just hope its good enough for Div.2

Anyhow Ive got the Aussie GP and melbourne motorshow to go to at the end of this week so its not all bad :) (Finally gonna get to see a Zonda up close  )

I dig the weekly and I dig racing. Even if a race isn't my taste I will still run it to the best of my ability. Running things you don't like teaches you alot...I'm here to learn as well.

GoKents...I don't know what it is. Nothing of this race is "bad"....the multi-lapper is another skillset from hot-laps and if fine as well.....laguna is a good circuit and the viper is fine as a car.....but something just doesn't click....not sure what.

The only difference between a hot lap and a multi-lap race is the opportunities to make mistakes.
IMO, a hot lap is a better format for OLR.
It's balls to the wall, flat-out go for it.
A multi-lap race is far more difficult to maintain that level of aggression, while keeping the laps clean. Throw in the AI and it's even harder.
In reality, a race allows you to see, in real time, how your competitors are doing. You can see the car in front or behind. OLR doesn't allow this. I can't, in good conscience, back off.
I race the multi-lappers as I would a hot lap and this leads to much frustration.
It very rare to have two or more laps that are your fastest possible. I've never done it. They always appear in separate races. This is what makes the multi-lappers less fulfilling.
Though, if I were to, as Max says, "Catch lightning in a bottle", it would be very satisfying.
It's just so fricken hard.

Skiing was excellent and I feel better now.
I haven't yet, saved a clean race that is within a sec. of my target.
I've gotten within .7sec., but that damned puff of dirt is there.

Don't listen to 'em! Great race :D

My target time is about 0.3s under my submitted time - and my three best laps put together is a further second better.... Aaaaaaaaargh! :D

(and cheers daan :D)

Mom always told me "if you've got nothing nice to say...."

Anyways, time in.

I have yet to race one lap that is my fastest possible. Every week I submit a time that I know, given enough time sitting in front of the TV, I could beat. I just get to a point where I don't care about the time that's left - same thing this week.

Time submitted, see ya'll in 55.

I think everyone races like that :) And the better you get, the worse it is because you learn to see your mistakes.

I actually found it easier to be satisfied with my times when I first started out because I didn't know where I was losing the time from. I didn't know how those Div 1 folks' times were possible. Now I do :( :D

I figure I left about 2.0 - 2.5 seconds total on the track (about 0.5 on a good lap), and I think I could have realistically gotten another 0.2 - 0.3 per lap if I had an unlimited amount of time.

Time submitted.
Within .9sec. of my target and 1.4sec. of PB total.
Doing splits similar to Bollocks.
You can lose a bunch in that last section.
My submitted race has L2/T3 that is .2sec. slower than L3, but is .3sec. faster at the line.
½sec. thrown away because I didn't want to see that puff of dirt.

Since I have one in the bank, may as well give it another go. ;)

Damn I'm happy to see the site up and participation up with it.

Got a number of times in tonight and although the turn out isn't looking like last week, there are still enough in each division for a full podium. :D

Anyway, glad to see some of you guys managed to get in times, and thanks agian for letting me take the job... and thanks agian for not ditching out on the series when I took over.

Later.

Forgot to mention that my splits are alright, but my final time is 1.4 seconds off of my target. :(

Deadline is up. results in a sec.
