I ran a few german and english cars last night, just getting a feel for them, running whatever settings I had on them if they were form my garage or base from the showroom....I hit the 1'04.4xx range, not bad (after seeing the sectors posted here) considering they were mostly all base settings....they need work but tuning will help that all.

I'm going to give a few Japanese cars a run tonight and pick three cars to work on tuning for this week and actually going for hotlaps....

I forgot how much fun Apricot Hill was in reverse, actually one of the few circuits in GT3 that work well both ways, if anything the reverse is more fun.

More tonight.

(3 for my long time old school beginner to pro rival, IDAFC 21 )
Glad to see you stop in, and thanks for the vote of confidence.

Right now I have a
2.507 Rx8
2.503 Rx7 rs
2.500 nsx type s zero
2.510 Z
2.511 '99 Impreza sedan

And of course, I have my own stash, but that is nothing more than an rgt :mischievous:. Oddly, I haven't played with the tuscan at all.

Even more odd is that the rx7 rs up there seems to be the best on a technical level...
2.503 pwr
.223 twr (compared to the .254 rgt that's good.)
455 hp
This is all with the balanced dimensions too... 1460 front and rear track. 2425 wheel base... great smooth car.
Plus this is on a broken in version. (actually a prize car)

But still, the rx7 seems like it could be a monster, but I am stuck with the rgt as I will not budge from this one... this week is the week the rgt proves itself king of the "real-world-ish" car racing.

Anyway, what I want to do is post 1 or 2 of the setups I mentioned above.

Also, I will speak for myself and say that I don't want to scare people out of competition and that is why this div 1 runner hasn't posted any t times yet. :mischievous:  Not to worry though, still not a top dog. ;)

Back later today after I either, A. see request for with of the cars above to post, or B. finish my running for the day and don't feel like waiting to post setups.
Till then,
-

"What are you guys....a bunch of idiots!" "It's your job to set my car up according to the rules" !!:irked:

I can't believe my crew of 'airheaded bumbling idiots' have had me running all morning at 2.6 lbs per horsepower instead of 2.5!

No wonder I'm so frustrated......You just can't get good slaves these days....and an Emperor doesn't pay people to do what they should be honored to do free.

"Well, I'll get these cars set-up right and head back out....maybe this time we'll be able to keep up with somebody!" :banghead: :D

I had time to squeeze a few laps in the Speed 6 this afternoon... got a clean save nice and quick so at least I've got a time for this week

Sectors are 21.6 /49.1 /1'02.4

Enjoyable combo Kent, and good job so far with the weekly! 👍

Oh and Emp! you need to ditch that pit crew of yours, useless they are :P

@Highon ... the rotary is playing nice. I'm still planning on trying it's little brother (RX-7) an S2000 and the TVR. That's my plan anyway. I figure there's probably another .200 that I'd be able to pull out of the RX-8, but it'd really take some doing :D

@Gt3Emperor - man, keep up the commentary :D:D too funny

Well, since I'm used to running the Speed Six on this track, I gave it a go, T times were:
21.496
49.004
1'02.341

previous bests have been 21.400/48.873/1'02.007

on that best T3 I get so fast into that last turn after the T3 that I didn't brake in time and screwed it up, well my goal is to reach a 1'01.xxx T3

While the Emperor was in the pits berating his pit crew, I ran a 1.02.7 T3 and put the rgt back on the trailer for some serious testing tomorrow.

The Track is filling up now....getting real busy out here.....Mazda RX-7's & 8's, TVR Tuscan Speed 6's, RGT's, Spoon S2000's, and others still threatening in the pits.

The sounds of high-rev'ing 4's, 6's, and maybe some 8's.....the smell of exhaust, burnt rubber, blended with barbecued ribs excites the air. I breathe it all in for a few moments...."Ah, this is what I love about racing!"

I've driven about 5 different cars this morning, all had some quirk that made them unsuitable in my eyes. Now my crew is backing another brand out of the garage...this one covered in silver paint, it looks like it might be 'the One'.

As I slide into the racing seat and buckle my 4-way harness, one of my crew advises me to be careful, the car is not broken-in, so don't expect too much yet. Imagine the nerve of this idiot, trying to give me advice!

"Yeah, what ever", is the only response he'll get from me as I drop the clutch and roar out to the track.

"Yeah, this one feels good"....I'm already turning 22's at T1, 50 T2's, and T3's just over 1:03! "I wonder what she'll do with some miles on her?" "Yeah, I like this one....maybe this is 'The One' ".

Some impressive times are popping up. Nice Micheal K.!:) I tried the RGT....Hated it! It's fast, but tempermental.

Lotus350, is 'right on' already. HeinrichII looks good, and it's getting tough out here already.

But, at least we only have to worry about ONE lap!

I've turned up with my transporter loaded with 3 cars. These cars, in my mind, should be the best for this challenge. The only problem I can forsee is that my mind is a strange place... :D

The other probelm is I've not even looked at the cars yet. I know one of them is OK 'cos it's been mentioned (RGT). You'll find out the other 2 when I take to the track to try them out. :mischievous:

At last count I've got seven cars lined up for testing. And only one is weird. :D

Edit: I lied. Twelve cars.

First one I tested got a 1'03.9 after 4 miles of driving. Think I may stick with that then... :D The Tuscan is on the list, and seems to be working for many people...

2.511 currently. I can get it to 2.500, but for the purposes of testing I'm staying a little way clear of it.

My hatred for this track grows ever stronger... I really can't figure out that damn T1 sector! Oh well, if I can ever figure out this track, I think I have some good sleeper cars lined up :mischievous:

Looks like the emperor is running a ______. (rhymes with "otis is nifty".) I've had my eye on that v8 for some time, but don't have a broken in one, so I'm not gonna bother. :indiff:

As for me, still on the rgt, but just to let you all know, I have pulled the rx7 rs, and the nsx zero down to low 1'02's. (rgt is getting there. ;) )

I'm glad everyone is enjoying the race... it's too bad race cars aren't this tune-able. :irked:

Hmm.

Tried one of my "mystery cars". Started a free run session at 2.520. Did about 15 laps. Got a good clean lap in.

21.8
48.9
1'02.2

Quit the free run after I got that. Check the PWR and it's sitting at 2.505  and it's still gaining power! Damn.

I'm gonna have to run it in and then change the power/weight accordingly.

If I don't beat that time, I assume that the lap will be OK to submit? I can send the replay to Kent/Famine and he can remove the car from the replay and put it in his garage to check.

Also, I'm not revealing what the car is (yet :mischievous: ) as I believe that is part of the challenge. It's not been mentioned in the thread yet tho'....

Update: ran a few laps before going to the italian restaurant tonight...
21.255
48.618
1'01.725

I'm not happy with this lap, it's 0.2 secs faster than previous one, should have been like .6 or .8, I really but REALLY took that last turn so ugly and bad, well at least I know what's the time range I want to get in this race.

Another thing, it's kinda funny that this lap is a bit slower than a previous lap that I made months and months ago with this same car, but with more HP, I guess my skills are better than before :)

Took the TVR for a spin:

Clean:
21.7
49.1
1'03.6

Dirty:
21.4
48.9
1'02.3

The Speed 6 is more stable coming out of the hairpin and through the drifty parts than my RX-8 was. I can see another .300 or so that I might be able to get with this car :)

@Evo, some tips for T1:
- make sure to use the curb on the right on turn 1, the curb will help turn the car. If you do it right, you brake on the straight, turn in, then full throttle down to the chicane.
- brake early for the chicane. Don't drift it at all
- whatever you do, stay out of the sand traps. if you brake properly, you'll be finished braking before entering the chicane, and have your foot on the floor the whole way from the chicane to T1
- use the curb on the right after the chicane to turn your car

hope that's helpful :D

Yo!

Just found a major upset sleeper. The Honda NSX Type S Zero.

This sucker seemed slow last time I checked it out, but just now, after a day of runs with the rgt only, I ran the zero.

This thing came over the finish line to start each new lap and totally blew the rgt away on that straight. The twist throughout the course proved to be a challenge, but the nsx remained balanced.

Im not gonna run it primarily because I want to have a faster rgt time, however, if I did run it as my only car, I do believe I could easily beat my current best rgt time.

You guys may want to check it out...
twr is better than the rgt
pwr is 2.500

Flat out, the sucker is fast and if any good racer uses it, I promise it will bring in a division podium. (of course, that might not happen. ;) )

Oh yeah, progress here, but no posting till I've done something worthy of mention.

Well... 1st car I have attempted is the 3400s...

0:21.454
0:48.470
1:01.890

... and there is quite a bit left in that :mischievous:, especially between T1 and T3 :D

Hi guys :) got onto running a few of the cars myself tonight , so far here's my best in each ...

Speed 6 - 21.3/48.6/1.01.7
Ruf RGT - 21.0/48.4/1.01.3

I'll try a few more laps before the week is over:tup:

edit: Ruf RGT - 20.8/48.1/1.00.9 :)

Thanks a lot for the tips Luxy! It was turn 1 that was (and still is) my main problem, as I was taking a high line and braking too late. Now I can frequently run a clean 21.7xx or a dirty 21.3xx (I get into the grass on turn 1).

My best sector times on a dirty lap with a dirty car (I'm 2hp blow 2.500  )

21.526
49.016
1'02.323

I've got a lot to still make up in T1 and T2...

Well...I have settled on three cars for this week. Each one currently seperated by about 1.1s in time. I haven't really tuned the cars, haven;t touched the suspesion yet or the gear ratios, just the LSD and TC so far. All three cars are bought brand new for this and still are far from being broken in (but all 3 breaking in nicely to the spec of the race). I love how this circuit flows!

GoKents...I hit my goal for tonight that I mentioned to you earlier.....

best clean lap...in a red car (hahah)
T1 22.114 (21.987 dirty)
T2 50.080 (PB thus far)
T3 1'03.450 (1'03.2 dirty)

Tuning starts tomorrow....I think this is the race I have enjoyed the most thus far in my8 weeks in the weekly....I have absolutely nothing to whine about (that is a first)...

Just fooled around with the Z Concept tonight, trying to match the gears to the turns:

21.801 49.214 1:02.871 clean, and in the can. :)

That was a "magic" lap for me, where I nailed everything about as well as I know how. Nearly 0.7 off my previous best. I doubt I'll do better with this car, so I think when I get back to racing Sunday evening, I'll try the Speed 6 and the RX-8.

The Z is sure a sweet handling, very forgiving car. If any Div 3 drivers want a setup, let me know.

edit:

Might also try a RUF or two!

Thanks to Kent, for providing me some cool cars. 👍

I just love to race at Apricot, but Apricot reverse feels rather awkward to me. Never raced it very much, so it's like starting all over. I'm cutting whole seconds every time I improve. (If only I can do that another 50 times or so, I'm gonna end with a very fast time. )

Don't know my T's yet, cause my eyes is glued on the track. So luckily I don't have a clue, how slow I really am on this one. And I really don't wanna know at the moment. ;)

yikes....looks like my 22B is quite the underdog. Oh well, I knew it would be, Im not out to win or prove anything, just wanted to have a little fun. Tho this thing is still breaking in, i need to keep rearanging my power adders :irked: I ran it to 175 miles earlier tonight, i hope its all broken in by now, i ran it too 100 before and thought i was done but the hp kept goin up

RX-7, I think I'm in love :embarrassed: ;)

Clean:
21.0
48.5
1'02.0

Comparing with Mr P's splits, it looks like I'm losing .700 between T2 and T3 - anyone have some helpful hints for me? :D

Didn't get a good line throught the last complex between T3 and the end - I took it pretty easy, I didn't want to screw this lap up :D

I just realized this morning that the chicane is a 4th gear corner, not 3rd :embarrassed: :embarrassed: I was driving in way too deep. Gotta aim the left side tires for the rumble strip on the right for the first part, then aim the left side tires for the left side rumble on the second part (keeping the tires out of the dirt on left of the second part).

Man this is the most fun I've had in the whole weekly race series, and I've been here since week two. I love the track, I love the set of cars we're running. Awsome GoKents, awsome!

Ok, so after a few rounds of heated action around Apricot Hill, here's what the leaderboard looks like so far (sorry if I've missed anyone, or mis-typed your time - feel free to quote and modify :D ). Looks like there's a bunch of good battles shaping up :mischievous:

Sorry lux, but I can't let you cite my time in your post. ;)
It was kinda off. Hope you don't mind that I abused my mod status to remove it. (but that's all I did. First time I've done that sort of thing as a mod btw.)

Anyway, Im not running much today, just trying to get a run in between classes will be a challenge. However, starting to fall into a groove with my rgt and should have a final time within the next day or so.

Like I said earlier, I didn't want to post my time so I wouldn't scare away the competition, but now that max is up, I have nothing to worry about... The fast track is now marked, goodluck keeping up with him fellas.

Im also glad to see that your doing alright luxy... Same for you nielsg, and your welcome. ;)
Keep up the runnin fellas, I will be around throughout the day, but until I can get some more laps in... Later. :D
