Week 73: Pick Your Own...

I'm seeing the same times as HotRod is in the 22b with my CTR2 times. Running low 16 T1's, Low 36 T2's and high 1:03's at T3 regularly, but not sure there is much more left in it.

Might give the Nismo's and the 22B a run and see how they compare.

I think the 22b is the best choice for this race. I have been able to get low 1:04's high 1:03's fairly consistently. The car feels much more stable than the nismo skylines.

If you're looking for a light car the Subaru Impreza 22b or VI(includes wagon) is for you. Unless maybe an old EVO handles good.

Well, I just switched to a Skyline GT-R V-spec and knocked 8 tenths off my time, but my 22b breaks the power to weight limit so I may have to buy a new one, yay. Already spent half a million on this race!

My 22b is barely under the limit, I'm running on no oil and an 80-lap-old engine. Here's the best times I've pulled (in a 40-lap session, I got my best time ever by .3 seconds in the third lap, and wasn't able to improve on it at all):
T1: 0'16.513
T2: 0'36.846
T3: 1'04.705

I was seeing consistant 0'15.8s and 0'36.5s toward the end of the run though; I guess I'll just have to improve on my line tomorrow...

Eagle
...

Blake? Need a little help here buddy.

Sounds like fun, nice to have some freedom on it.

I actually have a question - as much modification as we can afford or stock from the shop?
Sorry Eagle, I only had a look in here today -- just talk to me on MSN. I don't think I'll run in this one. But I'll run next weeks one;)

Good luck every one.

I didn't see you online between then and now :P

I've found another 1.4 seconds so far today, so I'm not feeling too bad.

This one will be fun. I sat down Tuesday for about 20mins and ran some laps in my beloved Subaru Proto Rally car, (PwR 2.536) was hitting T3s in the 1'02.3 range with little tuning and came here to check times and saw how far up I was. I knew there was something wrong then, there is no way I should be up THAT much. Then I re-read the race and saw "ROAD" car.

Still...cool. I have 3 cars in mind, hopefully I will get another session in. For me to be competitive I need to run ALOT, 500miles +. It being summer and me being busy it is hard to find time now-a-days. The last thing I want to do is sit on my ass and play video games. So the only nights i run anymore are nights it rains out. Recently we haven't had alot of rainy nights here in NYC...but the forcast says tonight and tomorrow will rain...hahaha. GT3 time.

The weekly isn't so much about winning anymore for me, though winning Div 2 is sweet when I have done it. Even if I only do 3 or 4 laps I'll submit a time, I guess getting out and racing is more fun than winning. The races that fit me best I'll naturally do well in (like the FF car at SS11 a few weeks back). On those off weeks I'll be bringing up the rear. But hey if I am within 1 sec of my division and only had done under 10 laps not bad...haha.

Just switched to the R-Tune and shaved about 3 tenths off my T3 time. Best is 1:03.8xx. I love the track and car choice and it looks like the racing is going to be very competitive.

Man,GoKents made it very hard this week, just don't now wich car to use.I think I'll don't be in this week.

Damn 4 pages already, I havent tried any cars yet but I have a few in mind.

Be back with some posts.

I ran some laps in an race car, otherwise within the rules, just to see how my times stacked up. I think I'm in this week.

I really like these events, something about picking out a car and trying to maximize it within the rules is lots of fun.

Seems as though lots of people are going the Nismo, 22b, and CTR2 route. After playing around a bit, I'm thinking I might go for something a bit more eccentric. I'll likely be pounded, but it's all fun.

Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be a good spread of results in lots of different cars this week, and no doubt Famine will produce an Excel table in glorious technicolour which shows not only the divisional results, but comparative results for each car! How about it Famine?

Actually, I just remembered. Famine is busy moving house, and attending a funeral, I read that somewhere yesterday. He'll be way to busy to do that. :guilty:
I'd give it a shot but I'm no genius when it comes to Excel! Maybe my wife can help!

My condolances Famine. Look forward to seeing you back around here soon. :(

I'm sure it's been covered before, but what's the rule on cutting the grass before the lap???

I think it was covered before, several months ago. Cutting the grass before the start line is not allowed.
I think I am crossing the line at approximately 140mph. If you cut the grass, you will be a lot higher than that.

I'v only tried 1 car so far a skyline and it understeers like mad  it has 514hp but is only 2.59x P/W and think its already broken in.

T1 15.877
T2 cant remenber
T3 1,04.135

More to come off if I can get it to turn better :) Laters

Ok, well...

Cutting the grass before the starting line is not allowed.
Indeed it was covered long ago. :D

As for making it hard on you guys...
Sorry, thought you would like the choices and limited power. Makes for a nice race of steering control if you ask me. 👍

Finally got a few laps in this morning and I think I broke the 1'03.000 barrier with something like 1'02.8 ?
Not sure though since I never took the time to watch the replay.
Either way it was a new best for me, so progress is still being made over here. :D

I'm also going to be sticking to my nismo r tuned.
Got the settings about where they should be and it seems to handle well for a 4wd of its size.
I must admit though, the Evo was running some really fun laps for me. As with any evo run of choice, I like the Evolution 5.
Most of them are so similar that I ended up settling on the Evo 5 as a favorite. I would say it's because of the looks. The evo V is the only evo with a "perfectly" symetrical front end.
All the others have different vents on each side, odd license plate placement, and it just doesn't work for me. 👎 (note: I still love a evo 6 rs)

But yeah!
I just like the way the evo 5 looks. 👍

Unfortunately, that p.o.s. can't keep up with a nismo in my hands.

Anyway, catch you guys a little later,
Oh yeah...

I meant to tell any one struggling on a choice of car that if you pick your car and stick to it, regardless of the car, by the end of the week you will have something going. ;)

My best advice though...
22b or R34

btw, any runs in the S4 yet?

Somebody back there said not to bother with the Audi, so I left the S4 alone.

And I came to the same conclusion the 22b and the r34 Skyline are the best here.

I'm still wondering which way is better: fully-tuned turbo 1 at 524 or turbo 2 without intercooler and muffler at 530.

GoKent's might you be able to tell us what upgrades you are currently running including weight reduction? Thanks

I just ran the Trial Mountain enduro in a Corvette GS today (now my game is 99% complete btw :D ) and I've got a real good feel for the track now, but I'm in no mood for GT after 2 hours of racing, so tomorrow I'm going to run some serious laps, and I'm going to settle on a car (likely the 400R or the Evo V, that AYC makes for some interesting handling!)

hmm, it seems I have spent over $1,000,000 on cars and parts trying out different car. My best is in a 3000GT VR-4 with a T3 or 1:06.2 👎 I might try the CTR2 tomorrow in the trial mountain endurance to make some cash (I still have $6,000,000, but I don't want to run out). I'll probably try the S4 tonight and get back to you in the morning. My trials won't be too god cause I still suck and I'm still rusty. After running the Formula GT series, I'm too used to the F1 cars...

Hey all!

First off, don't go wasting money on the Audi if you don't have the bank account for it.

Oh!
icemanshooter24,
Sure I will post my setup (for the r34 I assume?).
NP.
Think it comes to 553hp with 2.509pwr
Or in its other form 530hp with 2.501pwr

Will be back with news on this stuff soon,
Till then,
-

Ran another 10 laps tonight; setup's getting a bit more maneuverable, so times are slowly coming down. Here's the latest time:
T1: 0'15.993
T2: 0'36.510
T3: 1'04.452
Still a couple seconds I can shave off, although I need an oil change pretty badly...

"btw, any runs in the S4 yet?"

Heh, that's on the list as one of my "eccentric" choices. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.

Thanks Kent, was able to get the 530hp 2.501, I have run some real nice laps with it, and have bettered the times I achieved with the 22b.

Ah!
Welcome to the weekly race series as well as the gtp.

Enjoy your time with us. :D

However, I must ask something of you.
If you would like to participate in the weekly race series you will need to submit a registration time.

You can follow the link in my signiture or find your way there in this same forum.

No need to rush it.

In fact,
you can include your registration time with your final time submission (but only because you were here before just now). :D

So enjoy your running with us and have fun.

Btw, glad my early setup break down helped.

Ok ran alot tonight. Settled on my car. I'm going for a car a like instead of the "fastest" car (for now). I got it at 2.511 with clean oil 2.501 with dirty oil and 11hp more.

Best so far T3 1'05.239
