Who is making a mockery of this series?

Sorry GT3mich, I was not referring to you if that's what you thought.

Part of the attraction of OLR (and in paticular this series) for me is all of the comradery and honesty we have here.

I was so looking forward to getting off work and giving this race a go. Now I probably won't even bother turning the PS2 on for a couple weeks.

Had they come to me as adults and friends and said they wanted their times removed, I would have happily obliged. Changing their T times and faking an "illegal car" was something I would expect a newbie to OLR to do.
I looked up to both of them...... until this evening.

tuff240! Relax. Take a deep breath. I appreciate your efforts with the leaderboard.
Max has used the wrong car before and Missing Link made an honest mistake. Don't give up just yet.

I apologize to everyone. I feel I owe a small explanation as well.

My wife recently passed away from a terminal illness. I have come to enjoy this series as it requires a lot of my free time and helped keep my mind off of "things". Therefor this series has become very special to me. For a couple of people that I considered friends and looked up to to take that lightly really hurt my feelings.

I am most likely over emotional and over-reacting at this point in my life and I am truly sorry it surfaced here. I'll keep the T2 leaderboard updated, but I think I'll be skipping this weeks racing.

I would prefer to just drop this and let everyone get on with the racing.
Thanks,
Patrick

Tuff, sorry for your loss, but you can't expect people whom don't know of such things, and the way things are for you, to understand how you are upset by something that seems trivial to others.

If you don't express how or why something has hurt your feeling before it gets 'out of hand' I don't understand how you would expect it to change anything.

If you feel this has brought on a "leave of absence" that is fine, but I can't accept that any of the blame falls on me.

EDIT: and so everyone else knows, the honest mistake I made was following Max's lead of a blistering T2. Truthfully, I have run 49.65. Truthfully I have also gone faster, but thought I would rather save some of the excitement for later on in the week. Since I usually don't get to race from Thursday morning until Sunday night.

Well .... if you can't play with the big boys, stay on the couch.

Play games with me and I'll play games right back at you. Just remember, my gun is bigger.

BTW... That was double payback for Max, my heart dropped when I saw the MrP thread just a short while ago.

For the record, I am not nor have I ever been married.

ODP, thank you for the kind PM, you are truly a gentleman of the highest caliber. Sorry, you got involved in this little "game".

Hopefully we can all enjoy a beer and laugh at this one in the near future. And yes, I still look up to you gullable yanks.

@ Missing Link So the 47.114 is a bogus time? or you just had Max E remove it. I'm inclined to agree with Tuff that you guys are making a mokery of this series.
When I post a T2 time, it is the best that I've run to date. I don't make it up. Its what I ran. Most of these guys that run this WRS take pride in their effort even if they finish last. I remember reading a post by Max E begging people to run this series and I thought it was a good idea so I signed up and have run 27 events. Max has run 7. You guys need to figure out what story you want to publish.

GT3Mich, None of the times you have seen tonight associated to my name are bogus, nor will they ever be. As for having Max remove it, I cannot make him do or not do anything, I didn't even suggest that he remove that time, he did it on his own. I guess he felt it wasn't his place to submit my time without me asking him to do it first.

I also see nowhere in the 'rules' that we are to discuss only our FASTEST or BEST T2 times, it just says we can discuss all sectors, which is what I was doing.

I realized I didn't want to 'raise the bar' by 4 whole seconds within hours of the series opening, it felt too much like, "Ha see all those times you guys got, well I'm already 4 seconds faster." Not exactly the best way to start something off.

The story I have published in this WRS is that I run A) when I like the combo, B) When I have to time to put in the effort, and C) when I 'complete' the combo. If I do not put in the effort, I do not submit the time, simply because I will not submit something that I didn't strive to get, its not my style. If I cannot take pride in the effort i put forth, I cannot submit it. Which doesn't exactly translate to only finishing on the podium, if I get beat, I get beat.

I initially signed up for the WRS because I liked the combo the week I signed up. Since then I have caught a few more when they tickled my fancy.

EDIT: oh yea... @ Tuff, nice. That truly was good (even though you played reallly dirty) I am impressed. 👍

So in the mean time you and Max drag personal info out of Tuff that only his closest friends need to know. You guys need to remember that there are others out there that think highly of you. I respect both you, Missing Link and Max E, on track ability, but your off track communication needs improvement.

My off track communication needs improvement? From a single isolated incident? No offense, but you are the one who neglected to read (and complete the cycle of communication) that Tuff just played Max and I for fools, thus beating us at the 'game within a game' we were 'childishly' playing.

As for being some kind of role model, and a respected member of the various communities, I carry that with a high respect. But nobody can maintain prefect composure all the time. Like I said, an isolated incident, you can count on one hand the number of these 'isolated' incident I have been a part of the 3+ years I have been "online."

Some people just take this too seriously, it is all supposed to be for fun, and while I agree that sometimes my having fun may ruin someone elses fun, and that is not right, it doesn't mean it can always be prevented from happening.

I agree, and I apologize to all the good people that participate in the WRS for our "shananigans".

Now lets get back to racin' !

*EDIT- The T2 leaderboard IS correct and fully updated.

Remove my time from the leaderboard. I will not submit a time for this week and I'm finished with this series. I'm sorry it came to this but I can't race with people that aren't honest.

What a load of CRAP you guys just pulled...

Nice.. Very nice... And very mature to boot... 👎

ok ok, this has flown way past ridiculous. here is the story ok guys:

i check out the weekly yesterday and as it turns out, i think it's attractive. luckily, i picked a good car right off and threw down a sick t2 in a superior car. moments later, link blows out another nasty. obviously, we are both driving the same car. at this point tuff is asking me what car i used (and link as well) and i tell him finding the car is half the fun and i don't wanna share.

at this point my very good friend link and i decide it will be fun to pull our t times and just sit on them till the last minute. more of a fun thing between two good buds then a mockery of the series, a betrayal of everybody's trust, or any other melodramatic crap.

as it turns out, when i tell tuff to remove my time from the leaderboard, he gives me the business and refuses to do so on the grounds that i was obviously lying and infact DID run a low 47 (all in good fun at the time it seems).

an hour or so later, i come on to see tuff has blown a gasket and brings up his dead wife. naturally, i was completely heartbroken and immidiately posted my correct t2 time. little did i know i was just being snookered (very well i must add).

all i can say is this appears alot more serious in this forum then it was in real life. sorry you also got suckered by tuff mich but i guess you could be chalked up as collateral damage on that gag 👍 let's just laugh it up and get down to it. no need for anybody to quit the series forever, take up drinking, or kick the dog.

link and i are both honest and refuse to be branded by mich or anybody else as anything less then honorable. link and i were just having a little fun and tuff returned the favor by having a little fun with us. end of story.

HaHa. Real funny. :mad:Too bad we're not racing at GranturismoX or I'd use a few other words. You can put my time back in Tuff. I'll just have to try all that much harder. Someone Tell UB57 I won't have a time for his race. I'll be driving in the rain the rest of the week. :mischievous: Be right back. The dog is barking and needs a swift kick in the Ass.

I'm not bothered, it was just a POS in the WRS thread... The diff is, that while your story of the Late Mr.P couldn't have fooled a kindergardener, bringing up a supposedly dead wife, is a completely diffetent thing... I'm done...

NOW TELL US WHAT BLOODY CAR YOU'RE USING DAMMIT ! :D

relax bro. smoke a dube. i wasn't trying to fool anybody with the Mr. P. gag. i made obvious reference to the fact that i merely assumed he was dead because i hadn't talked to him. and anyway, that DID fool some folks. let's not get our panties in a wad about nothing. or we can. in the end i couldn't care less, i would rather just avoid any animosity over what amounts to zero.

Max E.

Klingons Suck - and they always lose :D

I am relaxed - I was merely a joke, and the reference I made to your Mr.P joke - if someone didn't catch it, they needed to look no further than Mr.Ps profile to see when he'd been active.. And I didn't fall for that - I thought it was funny, as my first comment in that thread would show...

What I tried to say was, that bringin' up a dead wife, as an excuse for getting pissed, as a joke, is slightly out of place IMHO - Your joke on Mr. P was not....

I'll stop here - back to SSR5....

You guys seem to be forgetting:
The Missing Link
Some people just take this too seriously, it is all supposed to be for fun, and while I agree that sometimes my having fun may ruin someone elses fun, and that is not right, it doesn't mean it can always be prevented from happening.
Plain and simple, and this does not apply to only me, it applies to everybody, everybody is capable of not realizing they are ruining someone elses fun in the process of having some fun of their own. Either way, it is definitely not preventable in its entirety, and can be easy to overlook.

26.6 / 49.345

new car, fresh out of the box, default settings....I think I found my car.

Tuff240....you have me listed as div 3...I am actually Div 2. While my performances of late don't reflect that I did work myself out of Div 3 last spring.....great idea with the leaderboard BTW, I like seeing the standing that way than split into divisions

Another WRS related post - New T2 at 50.8 and a full second better than my previous best....

Hmm... after some thought, I have decided I am welcoming any challengers.

The Car is the:

Toyota MR-s GT-APex Autobacs. 409 Hp (Stage 1 Turbo)
Current best T2 is 47.114

I suspect I am going to be going some bit faster than that by monday night.

I can't see what all the fuss was all about to be honest, perhaps I missed something though.

Have to agree with ML here, some people do indeed take this too seriously. I mean, there is even some here who actually take part in a weekly race and openly admit this:

"when I 'complete' the combo. If I do not put in the effort, I do not submit the time, simply because I will not submit something that I didn't strive to get, its not my style. If I cannot take pride in the effort i put forth, I cannot submit it. Which doesn't exactly translate to only finishing on the podium, if I get beat, I get beat."

Now that's what I call serious ;)
