I'm thinking of having a go at this one. I had a look yesterday at the NSX (was too expensive) but I noticed something weird. There are two NSX's ( both have 276hp), the Type S Zero is 40Kg heavier but has a lower Pwr/Kg Ratio  weird. I might give it a try in the ZZII!!!

So what car have you decided on?

yes, the Clio was rather quick getting to that last split.

I decided to run the Z28. Not the fastest car, but still competitive. Also difficult to drive and hard to get that superfast lap I'm looking for.

The GS got us all according to your initial results. The Z28 has it where it counts. The diff in downforce between the SS and Z28 doesn’t seem to account for much considering the Z’s rear grip factor which is higher. Getting under 1’03 clean for me in the Stang is easier said then done. . I feel if the Z28 is pushed hard enough it will go under 1’03 if it hasn’t been already.

You guys are monsters!

Why don't one of you really fast fellas hop into my Z06 for a few runs. ;)
Might suprise you. :D

I mean, if I can bring the Z06 down to a low 1'03.2, then you guys could probably turn it into a 1'02.2 machine. :scared:

Then again, maybe it is best that you don't get in the Z06.
The competition would die after that. :(

For the record!
I tried my subby WRX STI version 6!
Came down to something half decent, but nothing near my z06 or RX7.

Makes me want to try an Evo5 and an R34. :mischievous:

Too bad I can't keep up in those cars. :indiff:
I'm still amazed though... Regarding the R34 laps from hugo...
Awesome work. 👍

At the end of the week, regardless of what cars are used, I would love to see some replays.

Maybe one of these days I will stop just modding and racing so that I can actually learn something from the faster racers.

They are all way way way too fast :scared:

I managed to run a T3 of 1'03.5xx in the RX-7... but not without smacking into the tunnel sides a little... :P

But my laps overall have gotten lower and more consistent, so thats good...

And is it just me, or does the left turn after the second tunnel have a really odd line thats quite fast? Seems that there is an odd turn in point that lets you shoot down the little bit after it, but requires kinda un natural turn in point...

This week I 'm going to use a car that no one mentioned.
I already tried the fiat coupe and the audi s4 but others too.
So it seems it will be a Peugeot 206.(or not)

Haven't had a chance to try out this one yet, but I will try and have a quick go tonight.

Hugo, am I right in thinking you like a loose setup on your car for your driving style???

Hugo, am I right in thinking you like a loose setup on your car for your driving style???

Nope :D

I try to drive as smooth as possible. I prefer a stable car and don't use negative toe or a lot of camber. Some cars require a loose setup to go fast, like the Z28. But I only lower the stabs so can easily slide into some turns without spinning out.
My run in the Skyline is really smooth for example.

Hey fellas, I'm new to GTP, and as I explained to Kent a few days ago, I'm a former GTF racer, but it seems that site is no longer operating. I've been tinkering with the Mustang a bit, managed to run a couple of 1:06.3xx T3's (might be off, I'm at work, notes are at home) but won't have time to make a serious run at it until the weekend. (read: car isn't broken in yet, have yet to squeeze as close to 3.0 PWR as I can)

I'm afraid I can't seem to tune my cars to save my life (or that of my co-driver in the rally races :scared: ). I've visited the OLR School section and that will seriously help with tuning my suspension, but I don't think I'm ready to mess with the individual gear ratios just yet.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm looking forward to bringing up the back of the Div3 pack! See you on the Mountain! :)

Hmmmm ... competition for me, eh? DIV 3 IS MINE! You will surely parish in my dust (:

hey guys

ive enjoyed this thread and this weeks 100grand, trial mountain2 setting is really fun just finding the right car was a pain:)! after havin tested several cars my heart told me to stick with one of the vettes that also was recommended earlier on...and they ARE faster than the camaros (naturally:)). after 6 laps in the red 0.0km car i got

t1 16.131
t2 44.941
t3 106.709

didnt make use of the weight reduction and having spent 98grand i thought id be plenty of mods. the weight ratio is 3076 now. these times are obviously subject to improvement! aside the transmission i havent played with the settings yet but gonna do that tomorrow! as the kms pass by im sure theres gonna be around 460hp. that and the adjusted suspension should bring some 3 seconds easily and ill end the week trying exactly that tomorrow!
good night!

Welcome to the WRS, dcoffell. :) Hope you'll enjoy racing with us. 👍

Minor update from me:

15.204
43.496
1'04.064

Don't think I'll go lower this week as the ARC#3 is getting closer. :D

I searched around on this and couldn't find anything, so this will be my last stupid newbie question in this thread. I promise.

What the hell are "Hot Laps?" Is this an arcade-mode thing?

To the best of my knowledge, a "hot lap" is one lap at race speed, from a running start. Usually this is done in Arcade Mode -> Free Run. You can run as many laps as you like, you don't have to stop and start over after one lap. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! :)

EDIT: Edited for clarity. ;)

Yes, you do it on the Free Run of Arcade Mode, and make sure you follow the regulations of this race, good luck.

EDIT: And yes, you can run as many laps as you like, and keep it clean ;)

Alright, that's what i thought, but figured I'd better be sure.

Went home for lunch and ripped through a few laps. Only slightly tweaked the LSD and disabled TCS and ASM. The car isn't broken in yet. PWR is at about 3.58x

I don't have my little pad with me, but off the top of my head this is the neighborhood i'm in...

T1=16.2
T2=46.8
T3=1'07.2

I might actually become competative at some point...

Hi guys. Newcomer in the WRS here. Finally got around to spending some time on this race...

First off I tried a 300ZX but that went nowhere quick :)
After that I tried the Corvette, but I didn't much like the feel of it, so I switched to the car that first came to my mind when I read the instructions. Unsursprisingly that's the RX7 and I went with the type RS.

Did my shopping and I got 70 cr left over :P

Took it to the track an did about 20 laps over several stints. PWR is now at about 3.07x

T1= 15.860
T2= 44.353
T3= 1:05.891

Checked the leaderboard to find out how my other div2 collegues were doing... all I can say is: Damn, you guys are quick :P

But then again, it is my first race. Just payin' my dues I suppose ;)

Fantastic race this week, Kent 👍 It's really hard to avoid having one car that's a run-away winner, and you've done it!

And welcome to all the new racers this week, it's great to see new faces and such a big division 3 field!

Small_Fryz
how many KM does the car have to do to be run in?

RX7 RZ (423hp 1270kg p/w 3.002, 178km)

T1: 15.047
T2: 42.959
T3: 1:03.681
Damn You Small_Fryz now i'll have to stick with the Rx-7 to keep up with you.

I'm just playing around now... finding interesting cars.... gonna make for fun races when friends come over, with about 7 cars tuned for this week :dopey:

Digging around still to see if I can find something not American Muscle or an RX-7... Found lots of cars that could run into the 1'05s or even 1'04s at the moment... but you need torque... and that limits alot of cars that can produce the PWR.

Anyhow, once I get some updated clean runs, I'll put those up... and if I find some nice car... aside from the RX-7... I'm gonna keep it secret to shock people :D

Finally did some serious running on this today. I'd tested the Mustang and the Corvette early in the week and decided to run the Grand Sport. In the mid 1:03's at the moment, but not much left that I can see. Still have to find a clean save.

sweet, there's actually div 3 racers this week.

I just hit a 1:06:28

then with the excitement, i overshoot the right just after the tunnel.

*mental note* don't concentrate on the damn times too much!

edit: done racing for tonight, fastest I could get was
16:328
45:573
1:06:937

still with the supra, guess I'm a bit of a fanboy with this car, I'm sure I can get into the 1:05's with it.

Powerful one:
broken in hp 423 weight 1270 P/W 3.002

Lightweight Version:
Broken in HP 393 Weight 1181 P/W 3.005

These are the 2 versions of RX7 that i currently have :D

no updates on my times as yet though ive gotten 14.91x or so on T1 but wreked it at the corner leading onto the back straight, So far my fastest T2 and T3 are in my clean lap so thats good. i belive i can get my T3 down to 1:03.2. we will see :)

Wahey!
Finally settled on a car.
Have a Chevrolet Camaro SS 29530Cr
Stage 1 weight reduction 1200Cr
Full Racing Suspension 17000Cr
Sports Brakes 4700Cr
Brake Balance Controller 10600Cr
Full Racing Gearbox 10400Cr
Stage 2 NA Tune 12500Cr
Triple Plate Clutch 4700Cr
2way LSD 4500Cr
Carbon Driveshaft 3000Cr
Racing Flywheel 1050Cr
Total 99180Cr

Oil and T8 tyres leaves 472HP and 1450kg = PWR of 3.072.
Ran it up to 123miles and it hits 482HP, then started to drop off. Changed oil and continued to run, gets up to 486HP and PWR of 2.995. At 250-ish miles power starts to drop again. I saved game at 266miles with power at 483HP and PWR of 3.002.
Ran some more laps, and with 269 miles on clock at the beginning of the lap and 481HP (271.9miles PWR 3.014) at the end of the lap, I have a clean save with the following times.

T1 14.805
T2 42.825
T3 1'03.262

Fantastic race this week, Kent
Thanks Lux. :D

still with the supra, guess I'm a bit of a fanboy with this car, I'm sure I can get into the 1:05's with it.
Keep at it and let me see your splits when you submit. 👍
Good luck would be nice but I would rather see you end up with a good reward for your work. ;)

Don't hesitate to ask about the supra and setting it up.

Now
Regarding the general racing population. :D

This is just my opinion, but the optimal range of car weight in this sort of race is 1000kg - 1300kg.
If you're at 1400kg things start to slide around a whole lot.

1300kg in my LW1 Z06 is a hand full compared to the stock 1270 Rx7 rz.

Just think about the rally race cars and the JGTC race cars. 👍
All rally cars are in the 1200 range and the jgtc cars generally start with the Denzo/Castrol supra range of 1050kg.

So, like I said... Not trying to tell you all how to race.
Please use what you like best. :D
Just trying to help here. :sly:

Till next time,
Later!
Oh, btw, 1'03.209 is the exact (I think) for my current clean z06.
(Have seen 1'02.8 or 6 today :indiff:
Might get it though. :) )
