90% of a good lap at GVE is made or broken in the very first corner, with the remaining 10% mostly in the second (left) corner.
It's also a very easy track, so we should all be within a second or so, from fastest to slowest. it'll be some very tight racing there.

I agree, It will be very tight racing. Hopefully no one gets sent into the sand pit on that very 1st turn. Bumping is gonna be unavoidable. Should be interesting.:sly:

Probably only make a few of the races, but I'll have a go at it.

Edit: I see a few of the names in this thread are the ones I had some good racing with this evening.

This track will definitely be a tight fit with a full room though last night we were running in packs of 4-6 at times without many issues for laps at a time. The contact that worries me is in the tunnel when someone overshoots the entrance and bounces off the wall.

+1
I have tried some races here, that curb in the tunnel makes cars difs unload and turns the car around.
Creating a road block :nervous:
It's really important to keep an eye on the map and see if its clear.
Remember everyone, we can't ghost in this series.

Might be hard for some people that have their maps zoomed in.
Didn't think of that.
How about, if you see smoke, a car is probably in the tunnel sideways?
Everyone here is fast and clean, I'm sure we will be OK.
The race with the reverses gird could get interesting as the faster guy try and claw back to the front.

Maybe you could throw out some text like "CAUTION IN TUNNEL". I wish this game had some sort of administrative commands for these sort of things or for even setting up the starting grid.

Maybe if someone is watching. I won't be racing until Thursday, so if everyone wants that, I could do it. Assuming I am watching the person spin out.

Also, updated the OP with new registrations and race results list.

Hi All,

I'd like to register (tentatively) for tonight's race. My online ID is also JoeyFast22.

I have a matte blue car - unsure on the mileage.

Thanks,
Joe

Found out I am not going to be home until sometime around 9 cst today and Thursday, :grumpy:. I will do my best to get home any sooner but as of right now its looking like a no go for me this week. Would it be a problem if I am there for race two and not race one?

Yeah, I'm not sure what would happen to the grid if someone who wasn't in the first race shows up. Would it start them at the front? Back? Mess up everything completely?

Letters typed in for people to read while entering a left hand corner? :odd:

They'd start at the front.

I asked this a few days ago. Points are scored for both races right? So a driver who misses the first one isn't going to be competitive for the season. I suppose if you want a challenge, pull over to the side before the first turn and bring up the rear. That will remove any speculation about where you finish.

I can't make tonight's race, and I most likely won't make the start of the first Thursday race either.

I have mixed feelings about reverse grid starts. If all the drivers are within a close range of abilities it can be fun, but if you've got a driver that can't find their way around the track out front, they can cause lots of havoc as other drivers try to get around them, going 3 and 4 wide into turns that should be run single file. People get bumped and tempers begin to flare. The leaders may be able to run times within 1-2 10ths of each other, but if someone squeaks by a lame duck on the first turn and the others don't, they can end up 3-4 seconds ahead before the first lap is over. The battle between your closest competition could be lost before the race even started. The first few turns are supposed to be about making a double-file start into a single-file racing group...but if you stand to gain seconds by cutting someone off before the first turn, and your fastest and most aggressive drivers are at the back...it just doesn't end well. I'd rather see a single-file parade lap followed by a rolling start I guess...but the game doesn't give us that option and it is too difficult to orchestrate with 16 drivers in the room.

I agree 100%, especially with people not always running fully broken-in cars.

That's just how it goes so sometimes. There's always luck involved when the grid is bunched up (Avoiding incidents, not getting sandwiched, etc.). And us lame ducks are also trying to finished as high as possible. We aren't going to roll out the red carpet for the leaders. The leaders aren't the only guys racing for position/points.
