Laguna Seca is my home turf that I actually drove it in real life with my own STI. I can use the Subaru again for the Sainte-Croix-B, this is also the track that I eventually chose as my ground-testing area for suspension tunning. That JGTC race looks fun as hell. They added the R32 with some cool livery there as well. I am gonna buy another R32 just to do this livery.

Overall, I'm gonna enjoy all of these races with multiple attempts on different cars; except for the trucks.

Interesting lineup, especially with that last special event! I've tried for the first time to use Nakano's Weekly Challenge Randomizer and here's what I got:

  • American FR 550: 2015 Mustang GT
  • Pickup Truck Race: Toyota Tundra (my UZ one will make mincemeat of the opponents I guess)
  • Race of Turbo Sportscars: Alfa 4C Gr.3 Road Car (which I have to buy)
  • WTC600: Ford Mustang Gr.3 Road Car (again, which I have to buy)
  • Special Event JGTC: GT500 Supra (yay!)

I did a thing this evening.

Kudos' car randomiser is cool, but it's a bit fiddly sometimes and I wanted something a bit simpler and more tailored to weeklies. And I had a lot of fun with the last event generator I built, honestly it's kind of addicting when you see things coming together as you're doing web development.

So I built another one for weekly car selection.
This is great!! It gave me some pretty fun choices:
  • JGTC - NSX GT500 '00 (OK, I cheated here and re-rolled until I got the NSX because I haven't driven it much yet. I'll probably do this race with all 3 cars + the '95 McLaren just for the fun of it!)
  • WTC 600 - Amuse 380RS
  • USA FR 550 - Corvette '63
  • Turbo Sports - Garage RCR Civic
  • Pickup Trucks - Tundra (meh, a coin flip)

Minor suggestion - should the event names be sorted A-Z? :)

Dare we read too much into the JGTCC event…?
Probably not, given how all the other special events are still limited to the weekly challenges.

BUT a permanent JGTC "menu book" at Suzuka/Autopolis/Fuji with moderately high payouts would be a hit, wouldn't it?

You actually inspired me to not give up on the event and on the R5 Turbo, even though I know I'm not the best of drivers if a 520pp Delta could win then there was no reason my 630-something pp Renault could not.

Realized there were still a couple things I could to with it, I went all out with the widebody and the rear wing for some aero, still on RS tires, and how things changed!

Take that, Gallo. You and your cheating Alfa! Btw he is really bad on the most driven segments, can't even keep the car straight, he's only extremely fast on the Dottinger-Hohe.

Now I can focus on the next cars for tomorrow's new set of challenges!

Exactly. Players have been wanting such an event since adding Super GT cars. The GR.2 thing and jumbled GR.3 just doesn't work for me. Having "proper" JGTC and "proper" SUPER GT grids is a must at this stage. Forget that we can obviously use Custom Races. It's bonkers they show off and tease like this when they can just do it.

I recreated the entire 1998 JGTC grid at Suzuka in Custom Races and it was amazing, though it should be even better now that the NSX '00 is available. I totally agree, however, that it is needlessly difficult to recreate these things in GT at present, and I just wish they could make it easier.

I was lucky enough to meet Tom Coronel at the Nurburgring last weekend who drove the Mobil 1 NSX at that very race, and I told him that I recreated it in GT and he was genuinely amused/happy to hear it. He said "Ah yes, the en-esh-ecks!" and then I wished him good luck in the N24 race, to which he replied: "Thanks! We don't need luck... we only need sex and money!"

C’mon, PD. They must have only one employee doing the liveries. It was cute in GT SPport because we didn’t have these cars. Unacceptable in this game. I fault the players. We’ve been wanting a real livery editor in the franchise for ages. We finally get one and PD think they can finally rest. Uh uh.

Ironically, this is something I would do just to hurry and race them together. I’ll pass and do my own thing. ;)

I don't know, I still think the fake AI liveries are cute! They throw it back to the simpler times of GT1/GT2 where we'd get some realistic liveries (think Castrol Supra) and some fake adaptations (nearly every racing modification). They should've leaned into that nostalgia and put "SKYLINE" in big letters on the GT-R replicas.

Apart from the obvious references on the NSX/GT-R/Supra, I personally noticed some bit of nod to GT2's cut content here:
  • #38 Zero F1 GTR '97 refers to [R]SOK Mclaren GTR '99
  • #87 Webster Diablo refers to [R]RainX DIABLO DL '98
  • #89 Valvoline Diablo refers to [R]JLOC DIABLO GTR '97 or [R]JLOC DIABLO GT-1 '99
  • #7 Advan 993 refers to [R]STP TAISAN PORSCHE GT2'97
The Ogura Clutch R32 NISMO (based on the Unisia Jecs car) also oddly reminds me of how Atlus put up their JRPG Thousand Arms in what's supposed to be the Unisia Jecs car in Advan Racing (the game did not have manufacturer or JGTC series license).
