@suomi1

The 96% Power Restriction seems to have mitigated the Custom Race throttle issue.

Shame that nothing can (easily) be done to counter the tyre problem, however.
I think you are referring to custom races always using hard tires? This has been resolved in the latest patch. I have a series of custom races i like to run and they were pitting and using both soft and medium as well!

[Apologies if this is mentioned somewhere else in this thread after this post!]

Reasonable week, thought that Maggiore was a rather soon repeat and while the track was the same it was a slightly different event. Trial Mountain is at a really nice time of day, probably should be a longer race although it's pretty easy given how slow the AI is around there. Porsche race at Laguna was fun because I used the 917K but on CS so it was sliding around like an old car should, wasn't the easiest win with the AI being difficult including second place ramming me off the track at the Corkscrew. Fuji wasn't all that interesting as I'm through my cars on that so I stomped the race with a full tuned MX-5. Daytona is always good because of the time of day change towards the end, AI likes to pit a lot around there too so there's a lot of road cars you can use. My 800ish PP 911 Turbo S was quite nice around there and was able to easily do 5 laps on fuel.

Cars this week:

It's fixed!!?? I didn't know, I've been away for 10 days...

Do you mean you can now set the tyre requirements for custom races? Or Garage cars will actually follow which compounds you have installed?

Hot diggety

I was up early and managed to get them all done (normal difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r1.jpg

Lago Maggiore - Toyota Sprinter Trueno 1600GT APEX (AE86) '83 - The car was already at the recommended 380PP limit, so I didn't make any upgrades besides the aero I'd added for show. Super-easy win. First ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r2.jpg

Trial Mountain - AFEELA Prototype 2024 - Upgraded the tires to SS. Another easy win. Second check mark.

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r3.jpg

Laguna Seca - Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) '20 - I upgraded the tires to SM since SS put me over the limit. Another easy win. Second ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r4.jpg

Fuji - Mazda Roadster Touring Car - Tires upgraded to SS, but otherwise stock. Another easy win.

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r5-1.jpg

Daytona - Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette '84 - First attempt - This car is pretty slow compared to the others in Gr.3. It didn't help that I had to save fuel to make it a 1-stopper (short-shifting at 50% of the rev bar and bumping fuel map up to 2 between the chiccane and the start/finish line). I was doing okay. By lap 9, I was in P7 with P3 within sight, but it all fell out of reach when Fraga pit-maneuvered me.

weekly-challenge-202411w5-r5-2.jpg

Daytona - Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette '84 - Second attempt - I got luckier this time. All but one of the cars ahead of me pitted a second time at the end of lap 8 and I came out in P2. The win was completely out of reach, so I just had to drive it out for a P2 finish and the third ticket.

The part ticket gave me some worthless part. Just to heap on the disappointment, the game gave me another 6-star part ticket for my daily marathon -- also worthless.

The car ticket gave me a Nissan GT-R LM NISMO '15, which I already owned. I sold it for 388,500 Cr. Blah.

The Group C race prompted me to take my good old Lancia LC2 from the garage, then the (horrible) rallycross event made me think... "why don't I go full Lancia on this week's challenge?" it was not feasible of course, so I lowered the aim to a full Turin themed (hope that my fellow Turinese @Strax enjoys the theme) and here are the cars:
  • Special Event @Le Mans: 1984 Lancia LC2. 1991 Mazda 787B. I did this livery a while ago after a visit to the gorgeous Fondazione Gino Macaluso museum, when I fell in love with the concept of a Group C Lancia
  • Porsche Cup @Maggiore: 1981 Porsche 911 Turbo (930). I don't drink at all. But if I ever did, surely I would be customer of Martini & Rossi from Pessione (Chieri) thanks to their iconic liveries.
  • WTC600 @Catalunya-RX: 1973 Lancia Fulvia Coupé HF. 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce. First reaction, bleah. Second reaction, bleah as well. Had to lower the difficulty to easy to actually finish in second. Oh well, at least I got to have fun with a wannabe Fulvia HF (I would love for it to come to the game). In the photo, I moved it so that the wing by the LC2/787B covers the distinctive Alfa grille, but still is not as similar as I hoped. Oh well, the K24 engine already blew away any hope of similarity 😂
  • Japanese Clubman Cup 550 @Tokyo: 1976 Fiat 131 Mirafiori Abarth. 1970 Nissan Skyline Hard Top 2000GT-R (KPGC10). The boxy look and the four front lights make this quite similar, so it was an easy idea to come up with this livery. Spitted a lot of fire thanks to the Super Silhouette swap as well. Originally made for grinding at Le Mans, I downtuned it a bit and had great fun in this race.
  • Jimny cup @GVS: well not a lot of room for maneuver here, right? Anyway, since Suzuki is main sponsor of the city's football club, it was easy to come up with this livery. The number and name of the "jersey" I pasted on the doors are from a colleague of mine who plays in the 7th tier of Italian football pyramid.
For the location, as I always use the photos for my PC screen and since I already have a photo of the 131 on Lingotto's roof, I decided to go down a couple of floors in the shopping center/Politecnico's classrooms...

I really enjoyed it as well, albeit after a few futile attempts in a stock Gr. C car and some inane driving from the AI. There's no way a real driver would do what the AI does while at over 200 mph on the Hunaudieres straight, and it led to me shouting a few very loud expletives.

I can't help wonder why these events are a) not permanent, b) haven't been in since Day 1 and c) not just that tiny bit better (fuel/tyre use etc.), because even without these things, they are great. I also love the realistic liveries, though again I don't see why they can't use real liveries (and indeed they have in a few cases, e.g. the Mobil 1 NSX and the Alfa DTM #8 (or whichever one is not the standard livery).

Either way, however, it's an epic event, and I hope it comes up at least as regularly as those ******* Jimny events.
Could not agree more. It's demotivating knowing this event is gone and it maybe will never return. One of the best if not the best special event we had in GT7 so far. This is the sort of stuff that reminded me of the old GT games, finally. Maybe it was the combination of the track (no chicane!!) and cars, but defenitely the atmosphere aswell.

I thought fuel/tyre use would be a certainty with this race, but i guess not. Just PD giving the casuals what they want, not too hard races and easy credits. God i miss the GT5 special events. And i miss the old school GT games vibe with GT7.

Also these kinda races should have been in the main game, in a decent career. Why PD doesn't add these special events to the main game after the weekly events is just infuriating imo. I want those DTM races in the game set up as a championship!

And give us endurance races already! :P

Clearing the weeklies i find out that 6* ticket gave a Lexus VGT that's worth only 359 K with price up 😂
Very poor rewards this week but at least Fuji race is a good deal for 180k ( CRB included) for 10 minutes race ,plus is entertaining enough .
The other 6" part ticket was not the shaft this time but a high lift crap for i don't remember what and who cares anyway.

Definitely I'll be back at Fuji, as about the rest of them?

You know I'll actually was going to say Ferrari 308 first, then changed my mind to the 512!

I found out through the blurb that's offered at the newly-added Porsche Cup round at Laguna Seca that not only is the newly-added 992 Turbo S different from the 992 GT3 RS by having a turbo, but the Turbo S is also AWD whereas the GT3 RS is RR.

Correct. It's been that way for a long time. I know the 996 Turbo is 4WD, not sure about before then...

It does seem that Porsche has been offering 4WD versions of the 911 for some time, but the 992 Turbo S seems to be the first 4WD 911 in Gran Turismo. (On a side note, I wonder if we could get a 959 rally car as a potential Gr.B entry for Porsche?)

I don't think I've ever been quicker clearing the races. And let me give you a high five - one finger for every clean win. There hasn't been anything really difficult, reason being that I really had good and ( partly over- ) competitive cars right from the start. The only race I restarted once after a couple turns was the 600 PP 4WD event when I underestimated my car's speed and weight and shot into the ( trial ) mountain instead of around it.

Race 1
Nissan Skyline '70 ( engine swapped ) - 579 PP

Race 2
Sony Afeela '24 - 539 PP

WC_241129_R2.jpg

Race 3
Porsche 911 GT3 RS '22 - 645 PP

Race 4
Mazda Roadster '89 - 549 PP

Race 5
Nissan R92CP '92 - 799 PP

I don't have a favorite race this time ... which is ok as I had my focus on time trialing recently anyway.
Wish me luck trying to beat old PBs. A fine weekend everyone, CU

Nothing’s changed tyres are still default.
Things definitely have changed. Custom races will use soft/ medium tires as well as hard. At least when I set them up as garage cars. I have each of the tire types available. They don't necessarily use the ones that are equipped, but they 100% were using different types. This was on a Nurenburgring race and Tokyo Central. Perhaps it is because those are both rain tracks?

Not sure if it matters because I have not tried, but this was with cars equipped with Sports tires, not Racing (it's my custom 600pp races). Might try other options to test.

I equipped four road cars with SM tyres and they all reverted to their CM and SH defaults. That was at Suzuka.

Edit: I bought SM tyres for the R32 and added it to the grid of other cars equipped with SM.
