F1 race was tough, once you lost the slipstream I had no chance. Got up to 6th once doing it properly but then no getting closer. I was running low drag, higher top speed, race softs.

Ended up getting it on hard mode by wall riding turn 2 every time. Even then I only made it on the last lap by half a second

Ouch!

Had my first sub30s run yesterday night.

Yippie-ki-yay m ..... f .....

And ! ... a question to everyone who wall-rides T2 : Is that really quicker ?

@Famine I have to ask: How on earth are you getting those screens without the cursor on any of the races? Been driving me nuts trying to do that myself.
Basically... I'm a big, fat cheat.

It's a composite image. That's why the tiles are all the same size too

Ok, that's actually clever. It's already what I do with my Weekly Challenges Guide Thumbnails so just need to cheat more for the screen in the video itself

Race 1 - Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione '91 - little faster then AI, just to be able to catch first place

Race 2 - LC500 '17 - again, not walk in the park, but fast enough to be first.

Race 3 - Murcielago LP 640 '09 - love Murci from original Race Driver: GRID. On SH, I only made it to second position.

You can also just keep the throttle pinned whilst braking sharply but briefly between the two red outside armco markers. You don't clip the wall but you still carry i little more exit speed than the NPC cars. Think of it as anti-lag.

To win i ended up reducing the difficulty down to easy but that ended up too easy and was leading by the start of the third lap. If i get chance i may try it on normal level too, see if that's more of a challenge.

I got 1st place in the F3500 One Make on hard difficulty. Many, many times. Even one clean race bonus :boggled:

Do not ask how many times I've run this in the last 48 hours...

Did you know that this race has penalties? 👀

The penalty zone is somewhere around the final corner. 99% of the time, you don't need to worry. I only got it in my early runs when I was struggling and wanted to toss my controller out the window

On hard difficulty, the race is full of rubberbanding nonsense with the AI just deciding to go faster after lap 12. The whole thing is scripted for the player to lose time to the AI in the S bends, then fight them off in the final corner for a photo finish. Every. Time.

My Setup

I drive this like a 5-speed with a bonus gear. I only use 6 for drafting / overtaking. Can probably shorten the gears more for more efficient driving. I drive Group C cars too much

See my suffering. You can use this as reference for braking points and racing lines.

Tips
- Draft the AI Cheaters

One of your few advantages here. It's also why a good gear setup is important. You need to get very, very close before breaking the draft to pass. You seem to lose A LOT of momentum when you try to overtake. Maybe the AI just finds an extra 50hp when they see you nearby

- Low Downforce recommended.
You will need some downforce for the fast left before the S bends. And downforce definitely helps your entry into the mentioned S bends. Also, slightly higher downforce will make the final corner less annoying to flat out.

- Racing Mediums or Racing Softs recommended.
Racing Softs are the fastest and will help immensely getting you into the lead in the first half of the race, and when you need to defend in the S bends

- Racing Softs are OK even for aggressive drivers on controller.
My tires were 75% gone around the lap 14. I felt the tires were worn out, but I still had enough grip to run times similar to or faster than my medium tire builds

- Don't let the AI cheaters draft you
When you are in the lead exiting the final corner, move over to the far left of the track and stay there until you need to set up for the fast left before the S bends

- Final Corner is Critical
The AI will cheat to make this a close race. They dive in much faster than you, then brake hard at the exit (but still catch up to you down the straightaway anyway  ). Always take the high line and abuse the banking.

Be careful drafting AI in this corner. You go faster, but it messes with your aero. Be ready to lift and modulate the throttle slightly, lest you get sucked into the wall.

NOTES
- Are the AI running low downforce configurations?
Sure. When they need to run away from you / catch up to you.

- Are the AI running high downforce configurations?
Always!! Especially when they need to out brake and out corner you in the S bends

FINAL THOUGHTS - Rant
PD:
The best driving experience is balancing a car within the tiniest window! Get more skill and you will learn to love it. And remember 98% throttle...
Me: I know what I need to do to drive this car properly. I've done that. I won. And I had no fun. The car is still hot garbage.

After this race and the time trial, just... no. When the weeklies are over, I discard this car from my garage - I don't care about the credits.

I will now take a much needed break. When I come back, I'm going to have a blast messing around with the other challenges.

Thank you, thank you!!!

The best I could do was 10th place. Your setup was 4-5 seconds per lap faster. Got 1st place on the 1st try. Cheers.

I should also note that, though the WC Special Event and TT are on the same track in the same car, the AI cars all look to have TA bodykits on them...

"Yaaaay..... Parts"
Said no-one, ever.🙄

On another note, Bathurst & Suzuki should be great fun. Ioniq 1-make could be good if it's not a 3-lap chase the rabbit sprint...
Not a fan of Saint-Crox personnaly.
Sunday cup is the basic filler to get to 5 races

I disagree, there is one part I love to win from parts-exclusive tickets - Stage 5 Weight Reduction kits. I think even at their most affordable, it's still a free 100k credits, maybe more.

Will make a final try for 1st today with your setup :)

I recently installed a weight reduction 5 in a Ford GT, it was worth 500K. But that was the only good part I found in my digital garage. 😅

Me excited at chance of bringing out the 2016 NSX GT500 again:
giphy (1).gif

Do you get the feeling PD really really want you to try that car?
I wonder what they are trying to communicate, so strange those guys at PD.
I swear if the next thing we're getting is a time trial and special event with the Civic I'll lose it
I mean I just see a perfect excuse to kinda recreate make this:

Or this if someone wants to do something abit different:

Honestly, I don't quite grasp the point of these tickets. Tickets for cars available in the LCD or behind the silly invites? Absolutely. Tickets for the credits? Sure, why not. Tickets for parts? Really? The one thing that isn't exactly difficult or all that expensive to get...has Tickets? Even as someone who hasn't played the game as long as everyone else, I didn't exactly have the hardest time getting parts so I really do not get the point of these.

Originally you couldn’t buy the parts at all - they only came from tickets and at random (at the same rate as now) or as specific parts ticket Extra Menu rewards.

The fact that they became buyable in Spec II does mean that they look a bit anachronistic. More too that Weeklies in which the parts tickets became a regular reward were introduced at the same time...
