Showing the EF in the thumb nail
As I'm using the PS4, it's a little low-res (side note: Special Events have a much higher resolution thumbnail than regular ones on PS4), but there are three cars and only two are EFs.

Been a while since I got some motivation to complete the weeklies.

But man... A Honda one make, Porsche cup and Gr4 at Mount Panorama? What a nice selection!

Good choices, PD. Good choices.

At the very least, I plan to check out that new round of the European Clubman Cup 600. I think I’ll see if I can get my swapped Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II up to that suggested PP.

Interesting. Don't think I've ever seen the Tokyo Central Counterclockwise layout used in GT7 at all, even in sport mode. Until the last update where they added its first event, and again in this weekly challenge. PD finally giving it some attention?

So, no FK8s or FL5s then?

Both (and Garage RCR's SEMA car) can enter, but they are not used as opponents.

Does anyone know what the #28 car is referencing to? There's the obvious JACCS (EG RM from PS1 era), Idemitsu (CR-X RM from PS1 era... on the intended car), Spoon (both tuned car and race car), BP, and PIAA references among others, but this one doesn't seem to be an obvious reference if you're not deep enough into historical Japanese motorsports.

Might be this #14 EG livery:

First time drives for all but the Lexus.

I doubt that Porsche will be at all competitive, but I might as well get it out on the track and give it a try.

The Fairlady is way over the suggested PP, but I've got to drive it sometime.

Fun week, quite easy races too which at least means you can use a lot of different cars. WTC 600 isn't too bad, just have to watch for Beauvois or Gallo if either start up front, otherwise the AI struggles quite a bit around there. Sunday Cup was easy but at a nice time of day, fun quick race. The Civic race is at my least favourite Tokyo layout but I still had fun in a replica race car, I did find it odd the AI has a bunch of liveries that call back to race cars but run on SH though. Porsche Cup was also a bunch of fun running into the evening on a track I like a lot. Cayman GT4 was easily enough given the AI is slow in the first sector. WTC 700 is quite an easy race given how bad the AI is at Bathurst so there's a lot of cars you can run. Went with a Gr.4 spec M2 and won very easily on a 1 stop, most of the AI will pit on lap 4 so if you're in traffic you could pit early and maybe get a clear lap in. Probably would pick something slower, even 650 PP is way too quick for them.

This weeks cars:
full

i will use fairlady z34 '08 for wtc 700 due to the fuel economy i get from the engine swap, Cayman gt5 for the Porsche, civic 97 for the one make, xj220 '92 for both the euro and the Sunday classic it is a rocket.

I'll be going with a mix of what Nagano's randomizer suggested and the Civic I had already used in the past Civic Special Event.
So my cars will be the Audi TTS '14, the Citroen DS Pallas '70, the Civic Touring Car, The Porsche 911 GT3 '22 and the GT by Citroen Gr.4
All cars are pretty much stock atm and that's how I'll start into my first runs. Both Citroens are first time drives, I'm curious ( and a bit optimistic ) how things will go. ;)

PS
Yesterday morning I accidentally thought about building a new FK8 and here it is, the next Civic one-make. My new FK8 is not ready yet and I'm ok with the Touring Car so I'll gladly go with that for now.

Really fun set of challenges this week! I really really enjoyed them all. Got to use some fun cars for them too, which made the races so much better.

Deep Forest Raceway Reverse__1.jpeg

Went for the classic Renault R5 Turbo for the first race. Kinda slow in the straights but made it all up in the corners. So much grip in the back. Easy to forget this is a rear engined rear wheel drive car, you need a good setup to cut down a bit of that understeer.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca_.jpeg

Had this untouched DS in my garage acquired through MFGT a while back. Why not put some miles on it. I liked how it drove at the track, kinda just glides around the corners.

Tokyo Expressway - Central Counterclockwise_.jpeg

The EK9 Touring Car I used was perhaps a bit overpowered, by the end of the race I was coming up to the car in last. It made it really thrilling to drive through such tight streets at such great speeds. It goes and goes.

Kyoto Driving Park - Yamagiwa__1.jpeg

My favourite race of the week, by far. The 550 Spyder is so light it just glides everywhere. There's zero downforce so it always feels like its at the limit, like it can break away at any time and spin. Yet its easy to get under control, and just makes it so satisfying to drive. 11/10, would recommend.

Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit__1.jpeg

Swapped NSX is called for duty, it feels great to drive around here. Some other cars it can seem like its too much to handle here, yet this has the perfect balance of cornering ability and high speed stability. Even made it easy to get CR bonus, which isn't usually easy since it's so tight up in them hills.

I only got credits with my tickets. 1 million with my 6 star ticket. Not complaining, adds to my savings account for when the Daytona shows up again. I want it bad.

Four down (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202504w2-r1.jpg

Deep Forest - Mercedes SLR McLaren '09 - Just stock this car was over the suggested PP. I gave it a try unchanged. No luck. No grip on those SH tires. Gave it a another run on SS. Easy win. First ticket obtained.

Laguna Seca - Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (HS30) '71 - This was also over the suggested PP. Way over. Ran it completely stock. Easy win. Second box checked.

weekly-challenge-202504w2-r3.jpg

Tokyo Expressway - Honda Civic Type R (FK2) '15 - Upgraded the tires to SS, but left it stock otherwise. The race was easier than I expected. Still a good fight to get the win, though. Second ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202504w2-r4.jpg

Kyoto - Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) '73 - First try, I installed all the sports-level upgrades and put on SS tires. That got me to 4th. Then I added the mid-RPM turbo and level 3 weight reduction. That was enough to catch the leader, who apparently was none too happy about being passed. He tried to PIT maneuver me on the way to the hairpin and divebombed me out of the way on the final corner, leaving me with a P2 finish. Good enough for the fourth check.

The EF(in black) is now available in the UCD.

Edit: Holy smokes! I literally blinked and PD added the EG and both EK9(‘97 & ‘98) as Special Picks. They weren’t there when I posted about the EF or I would have mentioned them.

The 308 Ferrari looks awesome in yellow (giallo something something probably) and the black Tuscan too. I might check what colors my pair of 308's are and may replace one of them with this yellow one.

The Civics and the special Scharwz BMW I already own. 😀

From left to right:
  • I begun the week with a sort of Alfa Romero Mito Touring car (Based on the LM-250 spec I made up), it's a pretty quick car in the corners, but in the straights it struggles.
  • Next, I decided to use the 71' Pantera for the sunday cup classic event, I will admit, It is quite overpowered for the event.
  • For Civic One Make, I used the RCR Civic. It understeers a bit, but once you get used to it, it's fine.
  • For Porsche Cup, I used the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, like I usually do.
  • Finally, for WTC700, I didn't really want to bother with using a GT4 car right now, So I used a detuned Red Bull X2014 Junior. This car is very overpowered, as the wiki says. Most of the race was spent on map level 6, and I never had to go in.

With the amount of Tuscan's I saw in the UCD I thought we were going to get a "Blackpool Racers" special event. Silly me.

Still, it's a good selection of events and the 6* ticket is nice.

WC April 11.JPG

Challenges completed for this week (all on hard difficulty, with 1st places), a very nice selection they were too!
Race 1 - European Clubman Cup 600 - Porsche Cayman GT4 '16 (Road Car) Minimal mods, Just Aero and SS tyres and restrictor.
For me the trickiest of this weeks challenges, with the mighty Alfa Giulia in the field it was always going to be tough. Took a couple of attempts to win. Chasing the Alfa through the pack, I finally managed to squeeze by on the last lap and hold on to the line.
Race 2 - Sunday Cup Classic - Toyota Sports 800 - I don't have many cars tuned below 350PP, but the 800, stock but on SM tyres, usually does the trick. Easy win.
Race 3 - Civic Special Event Ran this first with a Race spec EK'97 on SS tyres but it was just too easy. Re-ran in a race spec EF '87 on RM tyres, which was more fun, but still too easy. Will run again on SS.
Race 4 - Porsche Cup - Carrera GT '04. My 'go to' for fast Porsche fun. Just Aero and SS tyres, and power restrictor fitted, to get below 650PP, another easy win.
Race 5 - WTC 700 - Alpine A220, RM Tyres, Racing Transmission, Custom ECU. With high fuel multiplier, I thought it best to go light, and was proved right. FM2 for the whole race, allowed me to pit once at the end of Lap 4 for 3/4 of a tank and no tyres, for an easy win.

6 Star roulette wheel rewarded me with 500,000Cr, so a good week all things considered.

Sorry for what must be a normal question, but is completion of all challenges more efficient than grinding Sardegna or Le Mans?
