If we are going to seriously consider a new thread, OP, and possibly a slight rename to distinguish I have a thought to ponder.

P-Race
Parity Racing Association of Car Enthusiasts

All of this of course would only be with Mike's blessing. I don't want to step on anyone's toes...just don't want to loose the great group and format that we have developed.

I'm fine with new arrangements if it ever comes to that. I definitely can't update anything, too busy, but I'll always help out if it means anything from a new member.

Regarding this past week at GV...I need to be DQed from the race 2 win. I had 1 lap that was a 1.11.9xx and 3 that were 1.12.1/2s. Those were all out front with no draft.

I see what you mean Johnny, but hopefully I will still be able to race within this series. Just it would be at an earlier TBD time, probably with a new group of drivers.

So as long as I find enough interest I would still be racing, just unfortunately, not with you guys. Plus it really doesn't take up that much of my time updating and posting results.

I think that as long as you (Mike) are interested in continuing the best is to keep everything as is and provide you with maximum support to alleviate any surcharge of duty.
Probably sooner than later you will be able to organise a second race with a more friendly time slot in view of your new schedule, wich I hope to be part of ( the new time slot :) ) ,
So I do not see any reason to start a new thread at this time, As we could have the same event for the Euro and North American time. Also same event means we can still exchange and discuss, just that we may not all be part of the same time event.
I can see how all this could be very positive, particularely for North American as it my give some of us the opportunity to participate to both events. Who knows maybe some Europeen might enjoy middle of the night racing like Mike use to. :)

I forgot about qualifying a car!! I will try and get it done in the morning if that's ok...I don't know where the time went this weekend:crazy:

Wishing good luck to every one for tonight specialy to be able to connect to the server !

I'm struggling with some work today. I might be a very late entry. Was planning on running the 54' Vette. I drove it a few laps already so I know I'm close, but on the 4th or 5th lap I dropped 9/10ths in one lap so I have to lower the PP quite a bit and retest.

EDIT: Johnnypenso/Johnnypenso/Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1) 54'/328PP/50.567/EDT

I set her up with a more traditional 3 speed. It has so much torque I can launch in 3rd gear anyway...lol. Wish it had a better exhaust sound.

Network is down fellas...probably no racing tonight. Tried to sign in several times to no avail..then finally got a messsage saying they are having network problems. I'm in ORCA tomorrow at this time but if you want to reschedule for Wednesday at 8pm that could work.

I haven't been added by MCRC_Lounge yet, I've had my request in for about a week and have already submitted a time. What should I do now?

Never mind, I just got added. Thanks for being so speedy!

Network is down Ferrari....I'll try again in a minute but some of us might make it and others not. Not sure how universal the problem is. Might get some disconnects too if we do make it.

EDIT: It just let me sign in again...

Well thanks for allowing a newcomer like me to at least try. I'm going with a different car next week, and I'll probably focus less on getting low PP and more on just driveability. Thanks for the advice in the lobby as well.

Looking forward to race with you next week.

Ferrari...the time trial is not a real focus for most, most of the time. The racing is where the fun is at. I focus entirely on finding a car I am comfortable racing in just about any spot of the track. With the racing as close as it is in this league, you need to be comfortable in your ride next to another car, inside or outside. Also important to have a car that can be consistent slightly off the racing line for the same reason mentioned. Keep at it, this group is a great bunch to race with. Just ask NC and our race 3 ;). We spent half the race side by side using 8 tires in each corner. A little more contact than would usually be tolerated, but pretty sure we were both laughing our rear ends off the entire time.

Some excellent racing tonight as always. I had a look at the two bumps we had in the last race Sag. The first one it looks like I understeered a foot or two and pushed out a bit off the line. The second one it looks more like you cut across my front towards the apex of the corner. In fact, the front of my car slid to the right (towards the apex) a couple of feet from the impact. I thought at the time both were must minor contact but PD must have did something with the weight differential because while to me they just felt like a little bump, it was obviously a little more catastrophic for you...lol..sorry about that.

I echo Track's thoughts too Ferrari. Find a car you are comfortable in, that you can push hard and still have good control of. Anything that oversteers a lot for example, is going to lead to inconsistency and often a shunt under pressure, and there's usually pressure on you from start to finish in Parity Racing....lol. Cars that are more neutral in handling usually will do well.

When it comes to qualifying, you have to remember that the PP targets are kind of artificial and we don't really pay attention to them. Stuff that doesn't affect PP can really affect lap times, like drivetrain upgrades, custom tranny's, LSD's etc. A fully tuned and a stock version of the same car may run the same lap times but the tuned one could have a much lower PP because of the upgrades that don't affect it's PP level. Some guys prefer stock, some tuned, you have to find what works for you. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.

I was having a blast! One of the most enjoyable races I've ever had on GT5 (next to our 40+ lap kart battle)... I started laughing and yelling at my car because it JUST didn't have enough to get around you!

Low powered cars on comfort tires always seems to make some of the best racing on GT5. 👍

👍👍 While I love driving faster cars as well, the best racing usually seems to be with this combination. It really forces you to bear down and concentrate, plan a pass, and be on your toes for the slightest mishap that'll give you the smallest opening to leap through. You can't just power by someone, draft is minimal, it's a real thinkers type of setup.

I definitely enjoyed the past couple weeks in some faster, more powerful cars...and will look forward to them again. My favorite for racing in this group is definitely cars around the 350pp mark on comfort medium or soft tires. The racing is just intense.

It was definitely fun trying to keep the loose Mazda on the road with multiple cars on either side, and the thrill trying not to lock up into the first corner is great. I haven't ever had close racing like this, it was a great experience.

Upon viewing the replay, it turns out I turned in a little earlier than I intended in one of the incidents. My apologies. In both cases, my intention was to leave a single car's width on the inside, which was cutting it too close anyway. Not the best idea, especially in such a corner where there are multiple lines that can be taken.

Anyway, I will not be able to participate in these events for the next three weeks at least. Have fun guys, I'll be back sometime in November. :)

I'll be in the MCRC_Lounge for a little while sorting out the targets for the next few rounds, if anyone would like to join and help/influence the results.

EDIT: Apparently GT5 had different ideas and won't let me create any lobby's so I will have to do the testing offline.

I am liking tracks 14 and 15. Great choices Mike. Both are pretty fun in the low to mid 400pp range on SH or SM tires. Just my 2 cents.

Just to give you guys a sneak peek, R #14 will be ~480pp and R #15 ~410pp.

I'm looking for the future to continue this kind of pattern of, fast cars, then a bit slower, then a bit slower again and then repeat. Not necessarily always a cycle of 3, sometimes more with smaller differences in performance.

Any chance of moving Trial Mtn ahead of Nurb. I will probably miss the first 2 Mondays of November. Trial Mtn is my favorite and one I have been bugging Mike to run. Hoping I don't miss it.

This looks promising, what kind of European time did you have in mind?, I have a few European contact, I could let them know.
