I have an idea I'd like to throw up just to mix things up a bit. Since we've changed things up from no tuning to tuning and from alternating MCRC and VCRC cars to anything goes I think this suggestion fits right in with that trend.

Ready? Now don't freak out...lol.:scared: How about keeping the same track back to back as we do now, but changing the lap time targets and tires from week to week, to mix it up a bit. What I'm thinking is along the lines of this:

Week X: Nurb GP/D Target Time 1:39.5-1:40.0 Tires SS (a fast 450pp SS time)

Week X+1: Nurb GP/D Target Time 1:49.5-1:50.0 CS Tires (maybe a 400PP CS time)

Don't focus on the actual target time I just made them up for example purposes. My thrust is more along the lines of running the same track twice as we do now, but being able to have a slower week and a faster week back to back, for a little more variety in tires, cars and overall speed.

This way if someone isn't too keen on the faster cars, it's followed the next week by the slower cars instead of having to wait perhaps 5 weeks for the slower cars to roll around again. You could keep the times roughly 50 pp apart for example and one week to 500/450 then 400/350 then 600/550. At some tracks like Autumn Ring Mini, perhaps a tighter spread in terms of PP would be more appropriate. No hard and fast rules, you can tailor it to each individual track.

Whadda ya think?:nervous:

JP, I like the idea very much. I have had similar thoughts about running different target times to give some variety and more interest to a single track. My only concern, and its a concern for this up coming target, is the target time being reached with a 600ppish car. That is a lot of car and may be a lot for some drivers to be consistent with lap after lap. Could just be my 2 cents and concern, but curious what the rest of the field thinks?

I like your idea as well JP, I see it as a better way than what we are doing now. I propose that we do event 1 with the lower PP and then get higher PP for the second event.
Track I understand your concern, but I think we should do some event with higher PP since it is also lots of fun and be ready to back down if the racing is not tight enough.

Sounds like a good idea JP, I like the idea of mixing up different PP's for the same track.

Wow, haven't had a positive response to an idea of mine since I asked some of my staff a few years ago if they'd like a Christmas party!!...lol.

If everything goes according to plan and the weather holds, I'll be salmon and trout fishing on the Maitland River Friday to Tuesday so I'll miss the next round. Wish me luck!!!!

Good luck with your fishing JP.

Who is in for Monday?

I definitely won't be able to make it this week, have to work Monday... Not sure if I'll even bother setting a time.

I should be in for Monday. It is the first and then the second or third Monday of November I will miss.

With the high PP and race tires for week 13, how many are gonna use racing cars versus highly tuned street cars? I don't want to be the only guy using one or the other. :dunce:

Round #13 Targets:

Tyres: Racing Hard
Track: Nurburgring GP/F
Target Time: 1:59.500 - 2:00.000 (~600pp)

How many race laps will we be doing?

I won't be there but I might also suggest some of the LM cars, a detuned LMP (Lemans Prototype) with it's huge grip levels could easily make the target with a serious detune and be a predictable and consistent drive. The FTO Super Touring Car is a beast and with full downforce and a fully tuned motor, I think reaches just under 600PP and punches far above it's weight..and it has 4wd. A Some of the DLC Touring Cars are good. The RX-7 TC in particular is great at around 600pp. Even an F1 car or the FGT can should be able to make the target time with serious detune and reduced downforce and be a consistent drive. The possibilities are endless!!!!

It will be 8 laps.

I did my testing with the TOM's CASTROL Supra. I would expect most to be using race cars, but it would be interesting to see if anyone chooses differently.

Also in response to Johnny's sujestion, as you guys seem to like it, I will try to implement it by Round #14.

Hi guys, after thinking it over I just don't have the time to maintain this thread for you guys. What little time I now have for racing, I am concentrating on the PC side of things.

I would love to see you guys set up your own thread for this series and will help out however possible. I may even drop by and race if I'm ever available. If needed to help ease the transition I can provide the targets I created for the next few rounds.

So if you have any questions or require any assistance, just let me know.

Mike, thank you for introducing this great format of racing to all of us. Your leadership and vision has been greatly appreciated. I sure hope this group can continue. I think JP is willing to somewhat run the OP/thread with the help and assistance from some others.

Well, it looks like there is going to be some changes, is anyone of us ready to step up? Or should we build a team and share the load? I cannot do it all, but I can do some.

I am all for a team set up too. I think we have all governed ourselves pretty well throughout our racing together. I am not up for running much of the website stuff, but have no problem working on target times or other stuff that might pop up.

If we are going to seriously consider a new thread, OP, and possibly a slight rename to distinguish I have a thought to ponder.

Parity Racing Association of Car Enthusiasts

All of this of course would only be with Mike's blessing. I don't want to step on anyone's toes...just don't want to loose the great group and format that we have developed.

Perhaps you can try your idea for a new thread and group now that Mike is stepping down?

It may be a bit of a long winded way of doing it, but you guys could set up a new GTPlanet account specificly for the new parity thread. Then you would all have the ability to edit and maintain the thread.

Miata and Melon have the details for the MCRC account and I can provide log in details to others if required too.

Also if you want to change the name thats cool with me, this series is as much yours as it was mine. It was your participation and suggestions that helped guide it to where it is today.

I am wondering if we need to add the term "bracket racing" into the name. Curious if that would help more people understand the format of this group. We are down one driver with losing Mike, would be nice to find a couple to fill the spots.

Track, "bracket racing" means nothing for me, never heard the term, but if the rest of the group think it is a good idea, I have no objection. I agree with the concept of having a name that clearly state what we are trying to achieve, that is why I find Parity Racing to be perfect in 2 way, easy to understand and concise.

When I think of bracket racing, I think of drag racing... I know what you're getting at with the way you're using the term but I think most people, especially those not familiar with 'Merican drag racing will be clueless to it's meaning.

I think most people on the forum are familiar with the term "parity". Seems to be most widely recognized for this type of racing around here.

Just got back to the cottage from the river and polished off a butter fried salmon lunch!!:) We're still a bit early, the best fishing is next month so I'll be heading back here again with any luck, but I've got 3 rainbow and one salmon so far...roughly 28 lbs in total. Weather is horrible or we could have spent more time fishing. As it is I've only got out once each day for 3 days....about 3 hours each time.

As far as what to do from here with Mike handing over the reigns, I suggest we boot around a few ideas as far as how we want to run it, the OP, the format, preferred targets in terms of tires/pp/lap times/tracks etc. I kind of like the suggestion above of creating a bogus ID and using that to maintain the OP, post the targets etc. That way we can have several of us access the OP as necessary if one of us is away like I am, or as anyone may be in the future. I am willing to take the lead but as I've mentioned many times, my schedule is very erratic so if someone else can step in at any time and fix up the OP, host the races etc. then I think a democratic approach to things can work quite well.

Good luck tonight, hopefully you get a decent turnout!

I was afraid the term "bracket racing" was only an American thing. I am good with the parity, just wasn't sure if there was a term that might grab more attention. What is the turnout tonight? Just me and Cote?

Anyway, I will not be able to participate in these events for the next three weeks at least. Have fun guys, I'll be back sometime in November. :)
There was an unexpected delay so I shall be around for this week and next week. I'll be gone for 2-3 weeks after that (assuming no further delays).

I'll try to set up a car for tonight when I get home. If that doesn't work out, I'll use the Fiat again, if that's ok. :)

I am like you, I cannot excatly control when I will be available or not, with a little luck we may not be busy at the same time, so I am volonteering to assit you for when you cannot fullfill you commitment.
