Cote good call on pulling up the GTP WRS ruling on the track. I have raced at TM with a couple different groups and it was never discussed. That's why I was a little surprised it came up here. I would be good with either, but I think being able to race in the yellow may allow some better racing. I have had cars where hugging the inside on the yellow is fastest, and other cars where it was better to stay more on the outside, get a sharp turn in, and get a straighter line coming out (in both yellow sections).

For those of you using the cockpit view, do you use standard cars at all? For the longest time in GT5 I was a cockpit only driver. Owens actually of all people talked me into the bumper view. I was resistant at first as I really liked the detail of the interior and felt it was more realistic. After adjusting to the bumper view I actually found some of the racing aspects to be more realistic. The vision is definitely better. To some extent I feel that it is a bit more realistic in the sense that in a real car you have other abilities to see than just the 2D camera eye. By seeing better, I have much more confidence around other cars, creating more very exciting racing moments.

Just my 2cents. I know I won't be converting Cote as we have talked before ;).

I use standards as well as premiums. In GT4 I used to drive from bumper cam, as there was no cockpit view, but since GT5 and other sims, I cannot go back to bumper view.

GT3- Rear
GT4- Bumper
And of course cockpit in GT5. I just never used standards until the cockpit cam update. I missed out on a lot of great cars up until then, but the other views make me crazy.

Cockpit is very awesome. Some cars can be used and I won't lose any speed. Many have pillars that block my turn in and that results to inconsistent and slower laps. So for racing serious. I use bumper. For racing and want the Immersive experience I will use cockpit. Say the NSX RM. I can use cockpit really well. Take the GT300 RX7 and forget about it. That right side pillar is huge. LoL

So cool hearing how others play. I got a few friends with wheels. They use 3rd person. The one were you see the car. Im like. Whaaaaat. LoL but hey it's their game to play their way.

In testing for TM round 2 (the faster week), I have my RX7 spirit down around 407 PP and still just nudging under the target time. I am okay with that, but curious if you guys want a bit of a faster target time to get the PP level up a bit. I am sure depending on car/driver there will be some closer to the 450 mark, but not sure. I must have learned something from taking the standard 460ish PP car out to set the target to now. Seems like every time I drop the PP I get faster. I would suggest dropping either 1 or 2 seconds from the target if we are looking for more speed. May be more treacherous than worth on this track. Some high speed turns for sure.

In short, no...lol. Once the target time is set I think it should be left that way. Changing it 3 days before the race would make for bad policy IMO.

It would be fun to have little more speed for the secound round at Trial Mountain. Specialy with sports hard.
Johnny, Track is talking for the Monday not next week but the following one.

Yup JP, I was talking the 2nd round. I do agree about changing target times and it not being a good policy. I am okay with leaving round 2 right where it is, just didn't turn out to be quite as fast as I thought.

Yes, some car, like the Citroen, are not practical to race with from cockpit view. LOL

Track, as I was thinking about idea for a possible new OP and thread, why not change from Parity Racing to Pace Racing, after all the goal is Parity but the racing is same Pace. Pace might be more attractive than Parity. a way to present it could be:
We provide the track the tyre type and the pace, you provide the car and the talent, that is the receipe for tight racing and lots of fun between clean, respecfull and competitive racers.
just a thought.

I like your slogan Cote. I am good with that. I think we definitely need to get going on a new OP/thread. I still like the idea of creating a new member name that a couple people have access too. Maybe Pace_Racer or something like that.

:ouch::crazy::scared:...ooops...:guilty:...so long as we decide on round 2 at TM before Monday I think adjusting the target would be ok this time, but if we stick with the back to back format at the same track, I'd prefer if the targets were set at the time we announce the track, for the sake of continuity and predictability.

Good idea, which bring the subject to what track is going to be the next event and who is volonteering to set the targets and tyres?

Lets kick it around for a few days and see if there is a consensus of any kind...then make a final decision by the end of the week. We should also figure out what we're doing with the thread as well...

I'll be in the MCRC Lounge for a little while, trying to pick a car for TM

Johnnypenso/Johnnypenso/ Altezza Gita AS300 01'/ 1:52.540 / 359PP / Mountain Time
Lots of grip on this track with this tire/pp combo...in this car anyway..should be a good race.

If it helps here are the targets I created for Trial Mountain and Rome.

(~480pp)
Tyres: Sports Hard
Track: Trial Mountain
Target Time: 1:41.500 - 1:42.000

-----------------------------------------
(~410pp)
Tyres: Comfort Soft
Track: Rome
Target Time: 1:28.500 - 1:29.000

Thanks Mike:tup:

We should throw out some names and maybe have a vote on it or something. I thought of one while looking at Cote's post suggesting Pace Racing...how about "Dead Nuts Even Racing"??:nervous:

Fot the 3rd event with a theme, we could race with the LM Camaro on RH, easy to get at the seasonnal, and might attract new Pace Racers, aka Dead Nuts Even Racers.

Cote, for the potential Camaro race, would it be spec cars, or tuned to a target time?

Pace Racers, where all racers are spec'ed, not the cars.

Who all is planning to attend tonight?

I just arrived home and will try to get my lap set here soon...

Pace, same as usual, every one tune his Camaro where he needs to be to race at the prederteminded pace, only difference with what we usualy do is that every one drive a LM Camaro.

I intend to race tonite, see you all at the lounge at 8H00 Pm EDT

I'm planning on tonight, I have some stuff to cram into the two hours before the racing begins though, so I'll be a little late if I can't fit it all in.

Just to make it official...

Naptown25rs / NCemtB / BMW 120d '04 / 1:52.630 / 375pp

DIESEL POWER!!!

Really sorry guys. The hour I spent on Friday with Cote, I was in the target 4 laps in a row and then called it good. Then an hour before the races, I was also within target, only exception was getting a good draft on someone through the tunnel. I don't know where I found all of the speed in the second race.

Cote, sounds good to me...although I don't think I should have much input. I will miss November 5 and 12, possibly 19 too with work related events.

Ferrari, it happens. Probably half of us have had a race or two where out front our lap times are too fast. Generally, Mike allowed a couple laps within 5 tenths (depending on the track). The concern is when you are not drafting and faster than the 5 tenths lap after lap.

I find this track to be very good to the driver who gets the speed slowed down and the car turned and ready for acceleration quickly (granted, that is the name of the game at every track, but lap times seem to change dramatically here with just little adjustments to your line and points). The racing certainly got better as the night went along. Definitely was a bit more frustrating than we usually have with all the lap time problems (both for those too fast and those off the mark). Hopefully round 2 will be back to our very consistent racing.

I think I changed my line around two different corners on lap 2 in the second race. I started hugging the inside more, and started feeling more confident overall in accelerating out of corners. The corner after the tunnel more specifically, I found a lot more room for braking late. The fact that I also started using the yellow striped bits more aggressively could have improved my lap times as well. Taking advice from the last time I raced, I focused on finding a very drivable car. However, this led to me feeling very confident the more I raced, and I think that's where my fast pace came from. Last time I was 2 seconds too slow in the race, this time I'm 2 seconds fast, oh well, I'm learning for the next time.

It was great racing with every one, not our best evening but very enjoyable.
Next week unfortunetly I will be unable to participate.
This track was great and tricky, I still have a hard time understanding how much speed I gained. Specialy since I practiced a lot for that event.
I guess your talent is rubbing on me, thank you my friends
