We are hitting winds around 40mph. Still okay with power, cable, etc. But we are due for wind gusts near 70-80mph, so we will see how tonight will go. I might keep off track just for concern of the power/internet going out during a race and screwing someone else up.

Nah... Come race if your power and Internet allows, it might be only enjoyment/break from the elements you get for a few days.

Naptown25rs / NCemtB / Ford Focus RS '02 / 1:44.552 / 415pp

I'll probably figure out a car an hour before the race. I've been really busy all weekend and simply ran out of time. I'll edit this post with my selection later.

Ferraridude308 / Ferraridude308 / Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A / 1:44.7 / 403 PP

Some pretty good racing tonight. I think the 2 heat races definitely help tighten up the field for the 2 features. Both features seemed to have some good battles both up front and further in the back (my poor driving led me to see both ends of the field in both races ;) ). Congrats to JP and NC on their wins. Glad I could make it tonight before my 2-3 week lay off due to work commitments. Enjoy the competition and see you when I can.

Definitely some great, close racing tonight, probably the best I've experienced in this group so far.

Glad you east coast folks could make it out before the weather got too nasty!

So what's on the bill for next week? :sly:

That was the best racing I've ever experienced as a whole. It was really fun starting from the back in the last race and trying my hardest to pass Naptown the whole time. Sorry I copied your car, TrackBound; the NSX I was trying to use was just too unpredictable off of the racing line. Plus this time I only had one lap under time, and it was in a short race. :) I want to say thanks to you guys letting me refine my skills & car tuning as well, I've finally got it figured out I think.

Glad you like it Ferrari..don't forget to tell your GT5 friends about us.

Sorry Cote for that tussle in the last race. I thought for sure you were going to spin, and figured I'd get alongside you and keep you straight. At the last second you got hold of it and unfortunately I hit you towards the rear instead of parallel like I intended causing you to go into the grass. We had such a good battle going too...:grumpy::guilty:

Based on this race it seems we're moving further towards getting true parity for the feature races which is a good thing of course.

We don't have any targets for next week yet do we? I was thinking we could try the Motegi Oval. I ran around in the RX7 I used tonight on the same tires and it was pretty good. One corner wide open and the other nearly so. I think it would make for an interesting draft battle but everyone has to have that DLC in order to race. If you aren't up for an oval that's ok too, we'll find another track.

I'm fine with the oval, I think it'll be interesting to see the direction everyone goes with tuning as well as car selection. I think it will be one of the more difficult tracks to achieve parity on, as the final corner has many different lines, and slight adjustments in braking mean a lot towards the final time. Also, the drafting will probably lower lap times, quite a bit, so is everyone going to go under time during the race and it'll be okay?

My thinking is that we'll try and pick a target time/tire combination that ensures you are nearly wide open most of the lap so there should be little variation in the lap times. If you go too high in PP it's much easier to make mistakes, and the goal is always to keep everyone close together. We did a 75 lapper there in ORCA last season in the Silvia RM and there were half a dozen cars within a couple of seconds at the flag each race. Some of my favourite racing in the game so far has been in low powered cars on ovals because it comes down to draft strategy and placing yourself for a win with little worry of being outskilled regardless of one's skill level.

@ Johnny, as you wrote, too bad because we had a good battle going on, fortunetly they will many more battles. 👍

I hope contacts stay at a minimum for every one and we keep driving as if we had to drive the same car to work the next day. :)
More patience before passing cannot hurt and will give cleanner passes. Maybe we should consider longer races, now that we have heat races to fine tune everyone's pace.

Oval racing as very little interest for me, but if the group want to try it, I will participate.

I hear ya Cote...it was a dumb move on my part. Trying to do well but kind of like trying to thread a needle. Next time I'll just hit the brakes and avoid you or anyone else in that position.

If you're not up for the oval we can do it another time, perhaps with a bigger field. I'm not much of an oval guy myself but it does lend itself to a lot of good close racing which I like. We'll have to come up with something else for next week. If you guys have any suggestions put them forward or if you have a target worked out let me know. I will have some time tonight to try a couple of things and set some targets.

Some of the closest racing I've had has been at Route X, there is definitely a lot of strategy involved in picking where to draft/pass. Ovals are fun as long as the racing is close, and I think the short races will help with clumping the field for some real close draft battles. I'm fine with it if that's what everyone wants to do.

Since we do not have a track/target for next Monday, Nov 5th, I propose:

Deep Forest reverse/Comfort Soft/1'35.000.

If I have missed something and we already had a track/pace. Forget about it.
If some one as an other idea, let's hear it. :)

Sounds good to me...much prefer the reverse layout of DF...should be fun!!

I just jumped into the MCRC Lounge to find a car for Monday. Should be there between 30-60 minutes.

EDIT: Had to go out to work.

Johnnypenso/Lexus IS200 98'/1:35.088/491PP ABS (forgot about turning ABS off)

EDIT2: Johnnypenso/Lexus IS200 98'/1:35.079/491PP No ABS

That is a first! Your PP is higher than mine

So just 3 of us tonight? :(

More like 2 1/2 as JP might be unavailable because of work.:ouch::(👎

Where is everybody

:gtpflag:

PS: Judging from your avatar, you must be happy about the F1 race result yesterday. I know I am, I particularely enjoyed the interview at the end with David Coulthard.

I was thrilled! I could barely watch or take a breath the last few laps, as I thought Alonso was going to catch him for sure...

And the post race interviews were classic, profanity-a-plenty! And I'd like to know how much DC paid for that suit and haircut before Vettel showered him with faux-champagne...
