So not to confuse any one with semantics*
In the case of tonight events
1'39.003 = Good lap time for the pace racing
1'38.992 = Fail, your too fast for the pace, you will not have a great time racing every one in almost every corner.
Of course a few hundred of a second will not make that much of a difference, but you get the idea, when the hundred change into half a second or a full second.
In doubt always stay on the safe side of being a little bit slower, as during the race, the competition will almost always raise your game. So if you start right a the very limit, like 1'39.002, you will be over the pace during the race, not cool ( kewl):sly:

*the meaning, or an interpretation of the meaning, of a word, sign, sentence, etc.: Let's not argue about semantics.

Also Izzy, we run a couple of shorter races to start off the night and you can make PP adjustments after those races if you find you are off the pace, either too fast or too slow. We are in a bit of a transition period at this point having lost our host Mike and we're spinning off on our own shortly so bear with us, we'll get our house in order soon enough. Everyone is on their honour here, no one is going to freak out your first week if you show up and your pace is a little off. Just be willing to make adjustments as you go along and within a week or two you'll get the hang of choosing cars and figuring out just how fast each will go.

Couple of tips that might help.

Takes 3 laps or so for the tires to get up to temperature and you'll often find your 3rd or 4th laps are dramatically faster, often a second or so. This is the lap time you want to count as we are all in the same boat, a little off the pace until the tires warm up. So if you hit the target time on your first timed lap, might as well go back to the pits and drop 10 or 15 PP and retry. If your first timed lap is nearly perfect and you're 3 seconds off the pace, then you might as well go back to the pits and add some PP and start again. Use the posted PP levels of the other players as a rough guide.

As others have mentioned, choose a car you feel comfortable in and can race/drive consistently. You should be able to run in traffic without the back end kicking out all the time or swinging wildly about in the corners. Fun to watch, not so fun to race against. :sly:

EDIT: Might join you shortly Cote

Like JP said, the biggest thing is to run 3-5 laps before determining your setting to be okay. You will drop a good second or two after the tires warm up depending on the track and the car. The heat races seemed to work well a couple weeks ago in getting guys race dialed in. The tricky part is the draft. There isn't a set formula for it, but lap times will certainly drop if you are working with someone to draft as much of the lap as possible.

The other day I was thinking about PP/Draft/Time relationships, and I decided on this:

Cars that corner much tighter, accelerate longer, and have less power have more to gain when drafting. Their time comes from being quick through corners, so when they hit a draft, they have both speed & ability to corner, so their lap times drop much more than expected.

However cars that are heavier, but have more power, gain less time from drafting. When they hit a draft, from a slower car, they already have the power to pass it, and gain little from the draft. They still only have straight-line speed, and still have to take the corners more slowly.

I've got some really cool photos of the final race that I'll post as soon as I'm done editing them.

I meant to save all the replays and it was so intense I forgot every one!!!:grumpy: More very close, intense racing. Every race was undecided until the last corner, last lap. One mistake was often the difference between first and fourth.:nervous:

Great pic Ferrari!

Great pics Ferrari. Jp, need to change race 3...don't take my win away ;)

You got me...lol. I forgot to take a picture of the results there and took my best guess.:yuck: Sorry mate..what was the proper result?

Great job on the pics Ferrari, you've got some talent there for real.

Any thoughts on the specs for this coming week? I'm actually off work on Monday and I'm ready get back into things!

Track and Cote won't be there. Might be a small field again. I was thinking of going to Tsukuba for the off week. I'll post something tonight unless someone has a different suggestion.

^^^

Is there an alternate date that either Track and/or Cote can make it if Monday is out? I'm flexible.

I can make it Monday or Tuesday, Thursday is likely out for me.
Track originally said Tuesday only but I think he's now out for the week, but he'd have to confirm that.
Cote is out Monday and Tuesday, but in for Thursday.

So, I'll be there Monday for the usual festivities. Cote if you want to organize things for Thursday that's cool, just make your official announcement here and whoever wants to go, can go. My schedule is never guaranteed so I may be here on Thursday, just not likely.

Thursday Nov 22nd is Thanksgiving in the USA, I do not think any American racer will be available, so Thursday is probably not a good date for an event. :)

Hey, we all need an excuse to get away from our annoying relatives... :dopey:

Seeing as how there is no objection next week's target is as follows:

Tsukuba 1:07.0 Sports Hards

I achieved this time in a Spec Premium S2000 06' detuned to 415PP with no ABS, brakes at 5/0.

I would like to suggest that at Tsukuba we try to not make any late passes to the inside at any of the three hairpins. Basically if you aren't door to door with someone at the turn in point for the hairpins, back off and let the lead car take their driving line. Be sure and leave enough space for braking as well as everyone hates to constantly get tapped here into the corners. If someone bobbles a corner exit and you can get alongside before the next hairpin no problem otherwise back off. I've raced a lot at this track and all of the problems occur from very late passes under braking into the hairpins because it's so tough to pass. Use some racecraft to pressure someone into a mistake, or set up a pass on the backstraight or front straight. I once chased a guy for 23 laps here to force him into a mistake and make a pass on the last corner of the last lap!! The races will be long enough that you can afford to be patient!!💡

Next Thursday is the 22nd, the 25th is a Sunday. So are we racing on Sunday? If so, I'm available. If we are racing on the 22nd, which for me is Thanksgiving, my free time depends on when the Turkey's ready... :dopey:👍

when you say achieved do you mean you ran a 1:07.000 wouldn't that make you first all the time?

this will make you feel bad but I just did a 1:05.5 in my Prius TC at 395pp  I know it doesn't count but it's funny that a Prius with a lower pp can beat an S2000 at 415pp

Edited as it seems it was a misunderstanding.
