I went and re-read my post and I still see no attitude.
I was only trying to help and I'm sorry you took it the way you have.
I was under the impression, that this comp. was to help each other go faster and to have fun. Not to "show up" the other guy.
It wouldn't hurt me if you ALL beat my time.
At least it would show the merit of this comp.

I'm flying to the east coast on Sat.
So, tonight I'll spend some time working on the Jag. :mischievous:

Anyway, good luck and have fun.

:) :) :) :)

Flerbizky's right I was just yanking your chain. ;)

BTW let us know what T's you get in the Jag 👍

*speaks in an undertone* I bet it'll beat that RGT's butt

I can understand what was said earlier about the different lines to be taken with the XJ220... after working with the RGT for a while, I found I just didn't like using the XJ220... I'm sure it is fast once you're used to it... but that's why I'm sticking with the RGT for this week... latest times are:
T1 22.540
T2 50.840
T3 104.867

not too good, but I'm going to give ODP's settings a go later and see what's the difference... thanks in advance for the settings ODP... 👍

.3 short of my target.

I've hit the psycho wall. (trying too hard)
I'm out.

You're welcome Sailinghome. I feel that the fast line is almost always the same, regardless of car. What is needed to get the car to go there, that can be very different. This game rewards the low line.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I was playing around with the R-GT and found that the car is faster with stock weight (1330Kg) and Turbo3 w/Porting and Balancing (no oil). DF to .49.
20.683
47.062
59.647
The car starts with 596HP and hits the 605HP ceiling between 80 and 84 miles.

Does Oliver make anyone else just look at their times and cars and make you start cursing, loud? :)

Thanks for the tip Oliver. I'll give it a shot tomorrow!

Hear ye hear ye !..... :D

Well, I was trying real hard to get my times down, but the best I could manage in that RGT was...

T1 - 20.911
T2 - 47.565
T3 - 1'00.438

Think I am with you Oliver.. Hit that damn wall...

Had a second run in the Jag... New fastest times...

T1 - 20.819
T2 - 47.065
T3 - 59.765

Knew it was possible to pass that 1 min barrier.. Just damn hard.... But looks like I'm still down on ya... Back to the tuning board.... :P

Yes he does.... And then I'm cursing at the game all night as to why I can't set the same damn times.. Oh well...

Might go give the earlier mentioned Zonda, or Corvette a spin just for the sake of it now... Will let you know how I go... Don't have alot of time this week for GT3 though.

Ok.. Zonda C12S, standard car with oil change, and keeping below 20 laps per session gives me the following times...

T1 - 20.604
T2 - 46.934
T3 - 59.749

I felt that the zonda was actually easier to drive than the Jag, and found that interestingly enough, it is actually faster if you are short shifting (ie: there is no point revving it over 5.5-6k rpm).

Hmm... Forgot to mention that I have added the suspension and brakes, and all other stuff, but no powerups...

I would try the Jaguar, but... well... it's a little embarrassing but I don't have enough cash. :-P I just bought the RGT and modded it like Oliver suggested and I'm left with 73,909cr. I really need to finish some high paying races.

I tried a few laps with it and just flatout didn't like it. Back to the old RGT and my glorious 401,759cr!!!

VG: I think you need to spend a few hours running the Amateur European Championship to bolster up the coffers a tad. ;)

I'm still agging behind you guys in the 1'02 range. 👎 the Club has been a 🤬 the past two days. But I'm not scheduled until later tonight, so it's time to race

I needed a short break from my BC3 race so I thought I'd give this a try. Took my old C12 (not C12S) that I used for a series, added an na tune, PWR 2.208

Didn't run many laps but I like the track and am very used to the car. 46.8xx T2, can't remember my other splits. Didn't finish the lap very well but I'm done with this one. Pretty fun combo.

EDIT: Holy Crap! a 46 T2 Time?!?!  dang, I ain't even eating the dust off your shoes...

I'm really gonna have to do some hard racing tomorrow after homework and such if I want to even have a chance at amateur division before the release of GT4...

BTW, what will happen when GT4 comes out? Will this style of racing series continue; or will we switch to actual racing? (A continuation of this style would be good for the people who don't have / can't afford the stuff necessary for online play...)

I haven't decided yet. It's to hard to tell as I really have no idea how GT4's online play will be.

The only thing that I can say with some certainty is that the Weekly Race Series will continue with GT4 using the same style that we are using now. It might be difficult to do in the first few months of owning the game as it will take time to unlock cars and tracks and just get a overall feel for the game.

I have been thinking of doing a actual online weekly racing event, but right now, only PD know's how their online play is going to work.

Yeah, I thought that would stay that way (although won't we need to get a new qualifier due to the new driving, grip, and car control matrices?) I'm hoping that PD will notice the large online communities devoted to their games and say "Hey, wanna be one of the servers that supports our game?" That would be just awesome...
*continues dreaming until rudely awoken by a beeping from his speakers*
Anyway, the GT3 version will still be running for a while (at least until every purchases and breaks in GT4), right? Well, my bed is calling to me; more mad racing tomorrow...

Hey... Guys... I just noticed a wier thing last night when trying out different cars in the way in which the tiems are stored in GT3. I meant to post someting, but I forgot till just now...

I noticed that if you look at the time recorded on the replay, and recorded in the record list, that it is different to the actual final time posted when you cross the line in the replay.

It came to my attention, because the records showed that I had set a new fastest lap with the Zonda, but then when I watched the replay, and wrote down my times, I noted that the time was slower than my fastest XJ220 lap... So I'm a little confused? Anyone else ever noticed this before?

Yeah! I noticed that a couple weeks ago. Someone pointed out that when your watching the replay it cuts out a few hundredths. I'm told your to use the one that it says on the save file under "Record".

PS. New times. Shaved almost three tenths off my previous time. This is the best I've had, even out of the dirty ones, so I think I'll submit this time. I think its time to rack up some more cash.

T1: 0'20.569
T2: 0'47.569
T3: 1'00.643

WEll, gave the Vette a spin. Best times I could come up with are..

T1 - 0'21.116
T2 - 0'48.046
T3 - 1'01.129

This is with the Vette (C06 is it?) and min exhaust, stage 3 tuning and no oil. HP is slowly growing, but still about 10hp short of passing the WtP ratio.

I also had a run with the Viper, but don't remember the times more than they were about 2 sec down on my best runs so far.

The reason behind this, is the replay works in thousands of a second and it works off of frames. NTSC is 60 frames per second, PAL is 50 frames per second. (I think...) The replay shows the time associated with the frame showing you closest to the finish line both at the beginning and end of the lap. It's always slightly after the start line and slightly before the finish line.

The replay saved time is the actual time it takes to go the complete lap. This shows due to the PS2 being able to calculate the physical time it took, therefore slightly longer in duration than the replay time.

Yes, the saved replay lap is the correct time you should be submitting.

Just curious, but which Zonda. I'm running out of time this week, and need to narrow my car choice down. Any help would be very appreciated.

It's a Z06. I think the non-Z06s (like the Corvette C5R) are called C5s and there is a new one on the horizon, the C6. It may be the generation too, I'm not sure.

Oliver, noojra and Mazda seem to of got really good times from the Jaguar XJ220, and the Pagani Zonda C12S. Oliver started off, and I'm still using the RUF RGT, and the cars are getting decent lap times it seems. Then mention of the Chevrolet Corvette pops up every now and then.

It seems that FF and AWD drivetrains are out of the question, just seem to go to slow. Also, I wouldn't suggest using any lightweight cars. I started off the week by trying some of the lighter, less popular cars such as the Renault Clio, Opel Speedster, Lotus 190, etc. Hope that helped Alta!

Yeah.. I was using the C12S. Have to keep it stock with just an oil change though... And even then, have to keep below 20-30 laps if I remember correctly before it will exceed the 2.2 wtp ratio.

I got closest to that ratio with the Corvette. 2.201 was the what I hit last night when I left it to run a few laps of the trial track on it's own (After 2xx km I think).

It's a Z06, but yeah, now you see why I'm not using the vette (would love to, but it doesn't give any justice to the speed being achieved by everyone else). I'm just gonna take a guess that most people are either using the Pagani Zonda or the Jaguar XJ220?

I think I'm trying to hard. I cant seem th beat my ghosteven in one lap when I got a 59.9xx I screwed up an ran into the sand.

I think its because i trying to get a good T3 instead of trying to get a good Lap time.

I also find that my car is understeering at the long chicane. and I have tried every thing to get this car to grio the road

My best saved T3 is 100.3xx but I'm hopeing I could get a T3 in under 60 seconds;)

Hey noojra!

First thing you need to do is turn off the "ghost." It really get's in your way and you don't need that added distraction when trying to run fast laps.

Second, try seperating your settings like this for added oversteer.

Springs low in front and high in rear. 4.0/16.0
Stabalizers same way. 2/4 or 1/4
Ride height. Low in front and high in the rear. Seperate them by as much as 50mm.
Dampers, 10/10 all the way around.
Decrease rear downforce.

Give it a shot and see what happens. 👍

so far best save w/ the car ive chosen is 21.4/48.4/1'01.5 , im about .200 off of my goal i set for this car, tho im sure i could do better than that if i get lucky. it definently stands no chance over the zonda/jaguar/rgt, but i really dont care :)

I just noticed something with the XJ

I went and Disabled LSD and Custom Transmition and the car seems to go faster and handle better, go figure. :odd:
