there is competetion. but really, theres competetion every week, espeicially when youre only given one car to use. the purpose of these races is to have a little variety, and also be the fastest, but unfortunately the fastest always comes down to one car. so i guess it just comes down to what you value more, being the fastest, or having some fun and learning to use a car you maybe wouldnt normally drive and pushing it to its limits. when given the choice, i value the latter :)

I'm a bit disapointed with hearing that everyone is going to run the GT40. I would have sworn the 350 HP cap would have excluded it. I even made a rule that allowed no cars that have a racing version counterpart but I scratched the idea. :irked:

Oh well.

Hrmmmm... Good point there... I just may have to give some thought to some non-contenders.

I say it's not too late for changes.

The gt40 and all of the other major road versions of lm cars are just as much racecars as the elise.

I say we have two groups this week, those with a gt40, and those without.

Who's in?

I can say for sure one thing, I ran the gt40 and it is so much the killer this week. First lap brought my time down by atleast a full 1.5 seconds and after 5 laps it just kept at the same rate.

Jumped down to 1.07.7 in no time.

But screw that cheap peice of crap. I want to run something fun, not just fast.

So, you with me IDAFC ?

yea i was going to go with GT40 but nah.. im gonna go with something else... its 5 sec slower than the GT40 but i can live with it...

boom, maybe you can separate class by cars used
like GT40 will compete with other GT40
and the others will compete in a different class :embarrassed:
its just a crazy idea.. dont listen to me ;)

edit: haha i replied 2 min after kent

im with you kent lets go with non-GT40 cars

posted a 1'07.6xx But pushed out into the sand on the last corner. Best save to date is a 1'08.003.

If I can keep that last corner in check, I'm certain I could see a 1'30 at the end. But GoKents idea sounds pretty interesting. May have to look at another vehicle soon.

AO

I haven't even touched the car yet, nor am I about to get into it this week. I have my choices narrowed down pretty well on which car to use. Maybe I can put something together to compete with the GT40. :D

I'm thinkin I've found the right car, but it's a tad on the heavy side still. I really, really want to make it work as I think it's such a sleeper of a car.

I'll need to do more research.

Well, I found 2 cars already with 3 left to check out. Both of the cars are indeed heavier set, one of them you won't even see coming out of right field. The last 3 I think are going to be the none GT40 contenders :D. These cars are also not to add onto the first car I choose, which is still giving me the best time. It also has been tweaked though.

Boom, I think I have a sleeper for you too :D

You see, there are some other people who are running with a different car (345 bhp I think, close to the limit but I don't know what it is) who are whipping my buttox. I wouldn't mind if we switched to a different car (although I have kinda gotten used to the GT40's handling). It's your decision, I got the track I wanted; I'm happy with it; you can just keep doing what you do best (erm, I mean online...).

Edit: that's what I get for not following the conversation :embarrassed: :banghead:. I think I will try to find this "sleeper" and use it (the NSX seems pretty powerful by comparison, but it doesn't come close to the comfort of a GT40). I'll keep looking (anyone wanna give me a hint?)...

I've tried 10 different cars and they were all the same. Loose. Real loose. If we could use normal tires instead of T0's it gets better. You could make the GT40 stay on T0's and let the other cars run normal tires. Just an idea. Even the playing field a little.

Interesting idea GT3mich.

I'm seriously considering that option. Let's see how others find your suggestion. 👍

new save in my car 24.3/45.4/1'07.9 ...not much different than my last save except this ones overall lap time is like .600 better than my last one cuz i slid WAY too much on the last 90 degree lefty before the finish line, i still didnt take it right on this lap so theres still more time to come off. Still trying to get my settings dialed in too. its tough, but this cars fairly stable as long as you dont punch the throttle until youve passed your apex and are straight

I like using these simulation tires. I don't have a problem with others running on normal tires, the more mixed up the better! But I think I'll stick with these sims.

Going to share you car? I'm interested!
I'm going with the Subaru Impreza WRX STi VI

I reckon make it no TCS or ASM for those using the GT40... Actually.. Why not for everyone... That would really put everyones driving abilities into action... But maybe just no TCS / ASM for GT40... :P

DSM, your sick. But I like the thought :mischievous: I'll give it a try.
I ditched the STi, it was more annoying than fun. Trying the 300ZX... should be fun, eh? :)

I think Dr. Evil said it best in Goldmember - "How about NO you crazy dutch bastard!"

hehe.

got some new times. :)

24.1/45.2/1'07.7

the t3 wouldve been lower if i hadnt messed up the corkscrew :irked: but the overall time was another .300 off my last save. I've been waiting 37 weeks to use this car, and now that I finally can im gonna show everyone whats it capable of

i've decided. im not going to run GT40 for some reason: 1) I dont have GT40 in my garage, i think i sold it long time ago. 2) I got a car that suits my style of driving even its a lot slower than the GT40

my current time
T1:24.403
T3:1'09.375

i know its slow but i just want to give it my best for the sake of competition :D . and remember.. this is not with a GT40

forgot to put this in my last post. some tuning tips

keep everything nice and soft, it definently lets the tires grip a little better, as was mentioned, its better to keep the rear softer than front, but dont make the front too hard either. If youre using a light car like me, keep the ride height a little higher, because I use the rumble strips to kinda "hook" myself into the turn, keep the front a little higher than the rear and it'll let you get on em a little easier. I found a real strong LSD setting for deceleration helped a lot w/ braking, definently makes the car a little more stable, tho for initial and and accel im still using 5/5. Also keep the front brakes really strong and the rears really light, this prvents the rear brakes from locking up too much and inducing a slide. If youre having trouble controlling the car thru the turns, a LIGHT setting of ASM might help, like 1 or 2, anything higher and you just lose precious time. Im using no asm, and a light setting of tcs, it just requires greater throttle control to manage. hmmmm....i think thats about all i can think of for now. hope it helps

I have 3 cars together and right now it's looking like my best lap is on a 1.08.8, but Im working at it slowly.

I also suggest that we just give up on the crap about different tires for different cars and only certain cars using tcs, etc...

I figure that if you wanna run a gt40 against anything else that the rest of us come up with, it's going to be a hollow victory.

Like taking the 787 to the amatuer gt allstars series, it would be a matter of making sure you win by a mile as to retain your honor, rather than having an under powered, and under built car keep up with the road going sibling of a pure blooded LeMans racer.

If you guys wanna run the gt40, I say do it.

Im sticking with my crap box and making it work.

Well, finally got out of my 1'09 slump and made it into the 1'08's. On top of that had a really close call with a 45 T2 and an saw a 23.8xx on a T1. One of these cars I am running is a pure first sector car. The Last sector is where it falls apart everytime. But I did manage to get in a clean lap that is decent, but not extremely as fast as I think it can be.

I wouldn't mind running on some street rubbers. At least the street machines would be using their street counter=part. On the other hand though. This might make it interesting to kinda cut the Pro/Ama/Beginner and put all of us non- GT40 drivers into the same class and see what we get :D

I don`t know about a quick time but can i be the first to claim a new world record.I managed to smoke the tyres of a Subaru 22b all the way round the track even on the straight the rear view mirror was like that James Bond movie with the smoke screen out the back of the car.
