I also suggest that we just give up on the crap about different tires for different cars and only certain cars using tcs, etc...

I figure that if you wanna run a gt40 against anything else that the rest of us come up with, it's going to be a hollow victory.

Like taking the 787 to the amatuer gt allstars series, it would be a matter of making sure you win by a mile as to retain your honor, rather than having an under powered, and under built car keep up with the road going sibling of a pure blooded LeMans racer.

If you guys wanna run the gt40, I say do it.

Im sticking with my crap box and making it work.
Kent.. You really really need to pop a prozac every now and then. This IS - after all, just a game....

Cheers respectfully !....

hehe.

got some new times. :)

24.1/45.2/1'07.7

I don't know what all you pansies are on about....
(jk)... Well, just got home, and had a quick 16 lap session with my 322HP Unbridaled GT40 (ie: NO TCM, No ASM, Sim tyres)... Times from this quick session...

0'24.179
0'45.003
1'07.374...

So... I don't know what you are all complaining about... I was lapping consistant low 1'08s before my last lap.. Actually.. It was only 15 laps... And I think I set that on like lap 13. But came off the next lap, and didn't beat the time on the last one before coming in here to post.

There is nothing wrong with this car and no Traction or Skid control... Anyways... Off to try some more realistic cars now...

crazy dutch bastard out!!!

Well i dont run TCS or ASM ever as i hate it  and yes im running the GT40 because it took me an hour to win and because I do like it very much. My times after 4 laps is

T1: 24.578
T2: 45.546
T3: 1.07.746

I dont care about no TSC or ASM but i dont think you guys should have different tires or different groups just because of the GT40. Just because a car is fast doesnt mean every one should beat it with a stick until it isnt, aka all other cars get different tires.
And kent any racer will tell you winning is winning, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.

I think this will be a bit unfair. I ran the GT40 for some laps last night and already have T2's at 1.04.8.:( Every other car I tried it was a struggle to get down to 1.08's. So I dunno what to do here. If Boom was to say that the GT40 was to be disallowed that would be OK with me as it's a bit of a slaughter at this point.:odd: It's a shame too because my times were still probably going to be even lower in my next session. It just sucks that I spent a few hours driving this and come home and get online and see everyone else's T2's are way behind, exept for ODP and myself. So my vote is to exclude the GT40, and I think everyone else who has used the GT40 should voice their opinion also since it's only Wed. I could see if you've already spent some time with the GT40 and want to keep it, so either pont is valid in my eyes. Let's hear what you GT40 drivers have to say. I can always do another run with another car, how about you?

My T3/1:06.129 after an hour of racing isn't that far behind, CFM.:P Torc has started so I'm done with this for now. I'll check in during the week but finding time to run more laps in a different car will be difficult.

I'm in favor of excluding the GT40. It does seem to be a contender above and beyond all else.

AO

Not to the extent the GT40 is this week. While the S2000 was the dominant car, it could be challenged by a few other cars. Note the EVO's that put up a good fight.

This week, we've got Pro's running 1'08's in other cars, and then dropping to 1'05's in the GT40. 3 seconds is a blow out in a fast lap.

AO

If we all skip the Ford then won`t everybody just find another car that is the next best thing and all race that.I can`t be bothered winning the Ford so whatever i`m sticking with my evo 7 granted i need all the electronic gizmo`s to keep the thing on the track.Sims are great for doing Donuts though.

I'm avoiding the GT40 and playing with a little RUF

best to date T1 0'24.018, T2 0'45.108, T3 1'07.552 (dirty)cars really a bit heavy weighing at 1105kg and making 347bhp but its fun to drive :D

Indeed, winning is winning.

I was just pointing out what a hollow victory something like this could be... I mean, it's like using the escudo on the test track when racing a bunch of production vehicles.

I say you guys take advantage and put some wins on the board with the gt40... you never know when you'll get the chance again. ;)

"Kent.. You really really need to pop a prozac every now and then. This IS - after all, just a game....

 I don't recall getting upset about the gt40 being involved... actually, I only have one beef with this race and it's not the gt40.

I once again voice my opinion that the gt40 be left in. I mean, what damage will it do? none... What respect will be givin to the victor? none...

Really, think about it here.... who would be impressed by someone beating a evo VII with the gt40?:odd:

So like I said before, lets just turn in times with the cars we've taken and in the end when the results are posted, each of us can decide who and what our competition was.

Although I do have one thing to ask... :D

I would really love to see just one of the week 1 pro's turn in a gt40 time.:mischievous: ODP, IDAFC, one of you two should just turn in one of those 1.04's and leave the comp in the dust... then again its up to you :D
edit:
btw, I just watched my 22b (which Im pulling 1.07's with) do a few laps during the time where the options are up and your not running yet and damn! you would think this car is undrivable by the way the computer took that corkscrew and then slid side ways down to the t3.

haha, Im stickin w/ the car I have, like i said, ive been waiting the whole comp to be able to use this car. As far as the whole excluding the gt40 thing goes, I really dont think it'd be fair to take it out this late in the comp. Just let em run...i still think it'd be nice to maybe separate them into their own class, but if not, wont bother me any

I thought linking this would help some of the people here and give a bit of perspective to those who had no clue the series was around. (Just like me... I didnt find out about this series until week 37's odd tuning requirments were announced)

I hope this can help some of you guys with car selection, and overall driving on these, um, um, tires, yeah, I will just call them tires for now. (until I can think of a word that means ice donuts used on car wheels.)

Talk to you guys about this stuff later...

Wish I could tell ya. When you find out let me know. I think that this will be one of the first times I've raced on sim tires so It'll be a learning experience for me as well.

Letting the GT40 go I decided to use the same car as in comp 14, an evo7, left perfectly tuned for this track with t8:s.

The chassis setup didn't need any change. Other that that I had to turn down the yaw control quite much and change the power distribution more to the front, Driving with ASM to kills speed a lot with sims since a slight drift comes in almost every turn, so it got turned off.

So my conclysions from this is that the chassis tuned the same way w sims or slicks, but the drivetrain and electonic assistance(at least on a 4wd) need a different setup due to the lack of grip w sims.

Hi All,
I am going to run two cars,(but turn in only one time)as I am at T3=1:05.4 with the GT40 already.(No ASM,TCS)This is an awesome chance to refine car control,so I wont let it pass. Not every car is going to run on rails, what better week to improve your "Ice Driving"skills.I probably wont finish first, but I will be better for the experience.
Just my .02...........

A good point that it is.

I have already noticed the difference in the representation of any cars handling, but 4wd vehicles are where I see the greatest difference. All of the 4wd vehicles have oversteer and turn in that was almost never seen when using "the other tires."

Im glad that there are such good times coming from you. (cinjun) I noticed last weeks performance, good job.

Basically this week Im only running the subaru 22b, so my overall goal is sorta low, I just wanna survive a lap on sims for now. Im pretty sure this is my first sim tire experience, I haven't liked them for longer than I can remember. (maybe older gt games? I dont know if they were there or not.)

"If I can hit a 1.07.0?? this week with a 4wd vehicle I will be statisfied with my driving."

Thats the goal.(for me :D) Hopefully I will get to qoute that in a good light when the results come out.:nervous:

I have some good news for some of you. Wastegate has just posted over at the Numbers! He is alive but has been ill then after he was nearly recovered he was in an accident. Broken bones and stuff. He is getting better. Wish him well when he shows up here.

Well..after hearing the popularity of the GT40..I gave a chance to drive it..and this was my first time when I drove it:

T1=0'24.206
T2=0'45.285
T3=1'08.111

The handling is quite good, but I would like to discover a car that can beat it(probably there won't be) but maxing out the times with the car I like has more fun for me rather than racing with the "popular" car. Well time to navigate the prize car list and see which car would do good..

Thats great news! Thanks for sharing with us GT3mich.

I hope that his road to recovery is a speedy one and we will certainly welcome him back when he decides to return.

I'm not sure how hardcore I'll get into this week. It seems like I can get to a certain point, and then plateau... Gr. Anywho, tonights results:

Honda NSX Type S Zero:
T1: 0'24.603
T2: 0'46.289
T3: 1'09.849

Bleh.

4 cars mentioned. Its one of em. :D

Ah hell. I'll be the nice guy and come out w/ it. Its the RX-8 :) Ive been waitin to use that car forever. when we have a car choice, its always "no prize cars" which the rx8 is, so i never get to use it. but i can this time, and thats what im gonna do! So now you know my secret. :D

Well.. I just went looking around in the other garages tonight to see what I could come up with. Found a car that was over the Hp limit, and thought I'd give it a spin to see how it went anyway. Imagine my surprise that after purchasing said car, the HP in the garage was actually way under the 350HP mark. Bonus... Bit of weight loss, and some minor tuning, and about 20 laps run.. Times as follows... Not that I'm expecting it to be a GT40 beater, but this car is so much more fun to drive...

0'24.068
0'45.056
1'07.226

I have no idea how the hell you guys are getting 1'07s with the 22b... I was struggling to get that down below 1'08.8xx's... So I'd be interested in seeing those replays one day when I get a shark port... :(

So it's the RX-8, good choice (Nissan Z is usually the only competitor, but it's never been faced against the GT40 before). I think I may try it with either that car or the Z concept; seeing as how they're rivals and all :mischievous:
