So, how do they determine if someone should be bumped up a division or not anyway? I was looking at older WRS charts(thank you Nat and Tele) and it was getting me confused as to how they're determining things like that... Or should I just not worry about it and just hope I don't get bumped up a division too soon...

To be honest, I'm not sure ... sometimes CFM has promoted a guy almost instantly, other times not. I really thought you and Solrac would get bumped last week ... your times were way up there and I think it's fairly well accepted that they were not one off's ... ... I think if you put in another solid run like last week, you could seriously expect to get bumped.

But to answer your question, I don't think that there's a formula behind it, but rather CFM's opinion based on whether you set a pattern or not.

I see I see... But about my showing last week... That would mean that you'd be bumped too, because you were in a PURPLE CAR!! If you switched cars you could've dropped the .5 that we were ahead of you, no doubt in my mind whatsoever... 👍

That is all CFM's job. He has told me at least that he uses our information to assist him, but it is all his process on when and who gets promoted. Think alot depends on how well you place in the week if you look at the over all week. I.E. you consistantly place, if you place all the times in a row fastest to slowest, above 1/2 of Div 2 (as an example).

Ask Nat, well maybe not :P, I even took a spreadsheet, which I need to update soon, and have made my "predictions" on advancements, and most part about 50% - 75% right.

Yea but if I recall, she tried that car, and did worse. One reason I stayed with the V-Spec also, cause I could at least handle it ok enough, unlike the other car's.

You should do that again ... for a geek like me, it was great to look at!

CFM will be able to tell that you are in the wrong div by following your progress, and reading your posts throughout the weex, he makes informed decisions based on your track record, and etiquette.

Here's a naughty cos i shouldnt be here run thru:

Le sarthe:

Flat thru the first corner, near the last M sign on the right (100 or 50M?) hit the brakes down to 3rd, then turn in and floor it for control, the car steers better under acceleration.
thru the chicane, up to 4th, round the blind right near the grass, into 5th, then back to 3rd for a second to balance the car into the next left/right, as soon as you hit the left, hit 4th, then right over the crest, using all the track.
into 5th.
as you approach the first main turn onto the straight, hit 4th for the steering angle, and aim to just miss the grass on the right hand side of the course, well over the kerbs with all 4 wheels.
Down the straight, flat out.
When you get to the first chicane, count one metre marker, then brake in between it and the second metre marker, down to 3rd, or 4th if your line is perfect.
Miss the sand, and floor it asap back down the straight.
Second chicane, use the 2nd metre marker, and AFTER you pass it (immediately after) brake down to 3rd.
Use all the kerbs, and red bits, go thru as straight as possible.
Back to flat out.
As you approach the right at the end of the straight, use the second marker on the left, and brake just after it, bring it down to 4th, then 3rd as you get near the end of the wall.
Turn in to miss the WALL in 3rd, and floor it.
Flat down the back straight.
Past 2 right kinx.
As you approach the end of the fast bit, use the second marker to bring the car down to 5th, but floor it immediately to balance the car round the right towards the sand, then brake hard again, down to 3rd if youre fast, or 2nd if youre sensible for the left.
Up to 4th for the very short straight, brake well early for the right, down to 2nd again.
flat now round the next left sweeper, and as you start to go right, down to 4th and floor it to hold the car, then floor it again round the following left, flat round the next left, back to 4th for the right again, then get your line right (in early, use the whole track) for flat thru the next left.
Approaching the start finish now, here the fast boys/girls are using the whole course and hotboi is flat thru the final chicanes, so u know what you have to do.
I brake down to third for the first one, then back up to 4th and flat thru the next chicane, and over the finish.

Good luck.
Dont tell anyone i was here.

Vex, awesome, thank you. I figured out quite a bit of that, but your pointers reaffirm a couple of things I was doubting 👍

Im sure everyone is doing this already but if you HAVE THE SPEED 8 from one of the 24hr lesarthe races, be sure to do practice laps with that in its default config. T'will allow to run lap after lap after lap, instead of starting over again each time.

Yeah, to run the 24hr though you need 25% of the game complete ... I have 22.2 :P (stopped progressing the minute I started the WRS)

Hey, who's in the gold time region at the moment? i'm on the brim of it. What kinda time do you reckon i'd need to get to be in the top 20? I'm trying so hard to get into it on my first race.

I manged to get the gold license with my second clean lap (after about 34billion fails and ~80 miles of free runs in GT mode), don't know the sectors though. But I'll look them up when I'm through with being lazy and am in the mood for touching my beloved PS2 again. ;)

Thats funny my progress halted at 46.3% when i started the WRS. But I took some time to get to 50%.
The bad thing about not practicing is that you shank a corner and you dont get a chance to run the rest of the lap as practice.

Look at me tho, I haven't even gotten out of the motorcoach yet for the short walk to the garage. Laps to run. Laps to run.

Alright, Mr vtec_guy...

I just did the following:

Watched the replay and here you go:
T1 - 0'30.666
T2 - 1'03.687
T3 - 1'30.316
T4 - 1'52.435
T5 - 2'20.412
T6 - 2'49.394
T7 - something below gold ;)

Plenty of room left for improvements, especially since a friend of mine beats my time by 4.5s. But I guess that's why he's in Div 2 and I'm not, hehe.

lol hi rotbarsch1979,
i've just made it into the gold region by just over 2 seconds. No matter how much I improve I see people in the 17s saying there's plenty of room for improvement. I need to keep trying to improve.

Much congratulations to this week's podium finishers (KLR142, Solrac, and Kolyana) and to this week's top 3 leaderboard spots (on both leaderboards, to boot), Kolyana, Steve57, and mkay. I'll leave it to Steve57 and Kolyana to crow for the disputed #1 spot! 👍 👍 👍

My progress continutes to trend toward the downhill side. Nurburgring was definitely not friendly to me, and this week I was ... time challenged, to say the least. I managed to find about an hour on Sunday to throw some laps together, mainly because I didn't want a DNF on the record. What I found very frustrating was that after a 20 minute session, I finally paid close attention to the throttle bar on the display and noticed that full throttle on the pedal wasn't displaying a full blue throttle bar. Switched pedals (long story as to why I have two), and instantly found 2 seconds just by being able to go full throttle. Never underestimate the pit crew!

I Don't Know (and I don't know why my son likes that screen name, but he uses it everywhere - no I take it back, I do know. My kids know that annoys me as an answer from them, so it's a dig. Darn kids  ) wasn't going to race this week, but I goaded him enough and he spent somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, got a clean lap only 2 seconds slower than my time, and called it done.

Since my company is moving this weekend and we're literally being barred from the building I should have some time to drive this weekend. I'll have even more of a reason with this dratted lousy weather we're having in Oregon right now (heat and eyeballing melting sunshine - ugh :ouch: ) to be indoors.

I actually did something rather unique and novel a couple of nights ago not being able to sleep and played the game of GT4! Almost done with the professional events, then I'll focus on more silver and gold licenses.

I enjoyed doing the Bentley license test a couple of months ago, but haven't revisited it since I got bronze. I guess I'll be getting gold on it if I want to be close to competitive.

LMM you old dog, I missed you last week! Good to see that everything is in order and that you'll be back on pace this week. It's going to be a fast one ... some of the guys around here are posting crazy times just 2 days in ... so best of luck to you.

UGH ~ COFFEE .. Go to sleep to a nice quite area, and wake up to POOF alot of reading..... and seems someone has been throwing my name around :P /looks at Koly It NP though, IF CFM wants to talk to me and my data, then I will provide it.

TIme to get a reading.... Did I say "work" was just a "break" from WRS :P

/wave LMM, good to c'ya once again.

Hi LMM, I dont have a problem sharing the top spot on the leaderboard with Nat as she has been putting in the hours behind the DFP and deserves the spoils of her labour, its the pointy stick she's poking in my ribs to get me to fall off the top of the leaderboard into the abyss below that has me worried:scared: :sly: .

...Here's a naughty cos i shouldnt be here run thru..Le sarthe:...
..

So, for clarification, the last chicane section, right before the Start/Finish line can be taken at full speed...Right?

If so, I've been doing things wrong for a very long, long time! :)

Thx-

When you say full speed do you just mean you can go through that corner without lifting off? Or do you not brake for the previous corner?!?!?

Wait, wait, this is confusing me also ... I've looked at this corner and I can see some run off where maybe the corner could be straightened a little, but I don't see any shortcut to be taken at full speed.

I'll take another car out there on the track in free-mode later to have a look real slow, but can anyone clarify the line through this section?

I want to win this week.

I'm just telling my fellow D3ers that this is my goal. It never has been before, this week when Koly' drives out of pit lane, she's got a stealy stare not normal for her.

I expect extremely stiff opposition from the ususal mkay, Steve57, KLR, Solrac, Lemke and amp ... perhaps even the usual ringer or two ... but I'm going for it this week, gentlemen, and would hope that we can fight to the finish in our usual good spirited way and can swap splits throughout the week.

Hi Nat, I'm liking this too, but am losing time here and there, not sure were though :scared:
I've improved my first bronze time by more than i ever would have thought possible, but yet I know that theres a bit more there yet. Dont worry I'm trying my best girl !! :P
AS for the last chicane, its the second half you can run through accellerating to the finish line , you still have to brake just before the pitlane ends, then down to third , left, right , then aim a bit left cutting inside the next curb and across the next right all on the throttle, Yes it a good idea to look at it in some other car to get a feel for it 👍
I've just improved the most important T time :D by a fair chunk, but only by less than a second at T 6, love those porsche curves its hang on time thru there :scared:.
youve been kicking my butt lately, I have just got hold of a Max drive, so now i can start seeing how these folks turn the times they do, and hopefully pick up a few ideas on how to drive the GT4 way, Im sure youll get there just keep pounding around that track 👍

Steve

I was hoping to get into the top 20 this week but i've given about 5 div 2ers a run for their money so far so now i'm going for a top 10 finish. Wish me luck, i'm gonna need it lol.

I'm not really enjoying myself that much this week. Love the track, despise the car (suspension WAY too stiff for this track). I'm really struggling to keep my laps smooth and clean as a result. Maybe I'm just trying too hard too soon...
