I'm about to go out and grab some lunch, I'll probably end up with a tube of Pringles and a chocolate bar, maybe some noodles too. I need 3000cal each day so the chocolate really helps.

$18 for a bottle of Scotch? I want it to be that cheap. :grumpy: If it was that cheap, I would go through my bottles much quicker.

I know you drink a lot of beers; do you do a lot of Scotches also?

Trader Joe's. 👍

Nope, total newbie - this is the first bottle I've bought (aside from a couple minis). Because of my newfound gluten issues, I'm trying to cut back on beer a bit and replace it with sugar- and gluten-free alcohol that I can sip on, and of course whiskey fits the bill. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

Rye Whiskey: Rittenhouse Bottled-in-bond if you can find it. Otherwise, Wild Turkey.
Bourbon: Maker's Mark, and most others are good. It's hard to screw up bourbon. Old Grand Dad BIB too.

Get your whiskeys 100 proof. You don't need water added when you're going to ice it anyway.

Actually, that's a problem for me - because of the way our freezer is designed, getting ice is an absolute pain in the butt and I'd prefer to drink things straight at room temperature (TBH, even most beers I have I let warm up a bit before I drink them). I've had Wild Turkey and found it too abrasive when straight, although I think I had 101 and not the full-on Rye version. I've had Maker's Mark and it was okay but I think Finlaggan's was a better value.

If I had easy access to ice I'd be fine (gin and tonic every day FTW!), but unfortunately I don't.

I bought some of this stuff but can't for the life of me work out what it's meant to be. Tastes a bit like Pepsi..........

Whiskey's awesome. I just picked up a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon a few weeks ago and I thought it's pretty darn good. I've had more scotches so I'm more familiar with them.

For scotch, it all depends on if you like the lighter or heavier stuff. I personally really like Glenmorangie, it's on the lighter and sweeter side, but it's still got tons of flavor and you still get a bit of the peat. Nice thing about Glenmorangie is that it's really easy to get into if you just started. It's got the peat, but it's not so smokey and charcoal-ly that it feels like drinking straight out of a peat bog. If you like the peaty and smoky stuff though, generally Islay scotches will fit the bill. The Bowmore that I have right now is decently peaty. The peatiest I've had was probably the Laphroig and Lagavulin 12yr. This one isn't an Islay, but I've found that the Balvenie Double Wood to be a nice in-between. I've never had it myself, but I've good things about the Macallan. I had a Glenlivet 12 the first time around and I wasn't too impressed with it.

Real men drink their whiskey's neat.

Sage, I am disappoint. Ice is an essential ingredient. It is like the easel to the artist. You can make due without one, but you need it to support your work while it is in development. Otherwise you're just a Jackson Pollock. Gross.

It's obviously oJOoJ4π.

I just had one of those moments where you start laughing uncontrollably while you yawn, so I have a pretty big chest pain from the accentuated stretch. Worth it 👍.

Considering being a fatty and ordering dominos, even though I had dominos last night... :P

BBQ wings, cinnastix and coke.

You really like Japanese Green tea, Ryou? I find it to be too bitter. Which variety do you drink?

Variety? I am quite unsure. All the box says is, "Japanese Green Tea". Excuse my un-knowledge at this moment. :P

Some of you may be remember my other post about wraps. Today I had fresh grilled salmon with a bit a mayo and relish as sauce and a squeeze of lemon in a wrap. I don't think you can go wrong with wraps lol
