Puts me in the mood for a Choron sauce...perhaps with a steak beneath it.

Not one for tomato sauce, but its really good when replaced with hot sauce! (I think I may have an addiction.... and my gut could probably use an intervention)

Speaking of bread with dairy products...does anyone here do bagels?

There's a fantastic deli on my way to/from work where I get the bagels that I toast at home, but I occasionally (this morning, for example) grab one there done up properly with a vegetable schmear (cream cheese, carrots, onion, celery, peppers...other "stuff"), lox, capers and lots of black pepper--all on a plain bagel.

I'd be interested in discovering others' preferred toppings and/or platform (plain, poppy seed, onion, everything, etc), or anything you avoid (I, for one, don't care for dill).

Absolutely. 👍

The other couple of times I made butter chicken was on the stove and it splattered all over the place. This being nice and contained lead to a lot less burnt hands. :P

Thanks! Having an Instant Pot now, definitely looking to try more things out.

We wanted pizza as a family but we didn’t want to go out and get one
So got some bread, tomato sauce, cheese and other toppings you see in the photo. Was pretty good considering it was ingredients we already had on hand 👍
Pictured is my creation, had 2 of them. Ate the first one and then caught myself to take a picture so I can share with you guys :dopey:

We do something similar when we go camping called hobo pies. We use those sandwich griller deals that go over a camp fire, and cook pizza sandwiches, grilled pb&j's, and use pie fillings. Always turn out delicious.

Pie Irons is what I've come to know them as. Always fun to try different things in them. Highly recommend a few peices of french toast, jelly in the middle, and some powdered suar on top.

My old man likes spaghetti sandwiches, so we have the dea of trying that with a few peices of garlic bread. Not wuite sure how that'll turn out, but that's half the fun of it.

What!?! And here i was, thinking I was odd for eating spaghetti sandwiches... well, I mean, i might still be odd, but at least its not for that.

My roommate in college would take about half a cup of leftover spaghetti and fry it on the hot plate right by the open window, constantly pressing it into the pan so that it would be thin enough for any chunks of sausage in the portion to be visible on both sides. He'd cook it until almost black, the sugars in the tomato sauce caramelizing--lots of smoke--and the pasta getting very crispy. Then he'd toast two slices of sourdough, only on one side each and put garlic spread on the soft side, before sandwiching the spaghetti "patty" between them; Christ on a bike those things were good. I wonder if he's still alive...

Thats my favorite part of baked lasagna or spaghetti. The crispy bits of noodles on the edge with a bit of carmalized sauce and well cooked mottz. So good.

Got me thinking of this CYE scene.

I used to love having bagels or baguettes with a tuna, mayonnaise, chopped chives and lemon pepper seasoning mix.
I'd say 60/40 on the tuna and mayonnaise. Sesame seeds on the bagel.
It may sound disgusting to those who doesn't care much for mayonnaise, but I liked it.

Mayo and tuna go together like a piss and a fart. I honestly dont eat canned tuna without mayo, onions and chopped pickles.

Full stop right there for me; it may as well be cat food. I'm not terribly thrilled by tuna anyway, but if I'm going to have it it's gotta be fresh and at most only seared with the inside still dark red.

I can do canned salmon though--particularly in something like a salmon pie (it's humorous opening a can of salmon and a box of potatoes, but spending nearly an hour start to finish on a fresh Béarnaise).

I would have never thought my "bread" post would open such a wonderful conversation about sandwiches and the possibilities!!!

I've been really wanting to try doing the spaghetti between 2 garlic bread pieces. I heard doing that, placing the sandwich on a baking tray, and topping the top off with some cheese makes for a truly epic creation

Major kudos to whoever wants to attempt that here and post the finished product!

The only other way ive had tuna is in sushi. But... I wouldnt disparage salmon by eating it canned.

I'm not about to pop open a can and start eating it, but when you incorporate it with instant mashed potatoes with some salt and pepper, load it into a flaky pie crust, bake it off without an upper crust and drench it in an herby Béarnaise...I mean...it's gonna put a smile on my face. Maybe it's little more than a vehicle for the sauce at that point, but it's still tasty.

:)

You all make me incredibly hungry with this leftover, noodle frying, bread spreading, post toast, apocalyptic sandwhich making, bull:censored:.

I must admit, spaghetti sandwiches were a cult kid classic in my house. Mmm. I'd love to go back to those days. Texas toast, a glob of spaghetti, more texas toast. White bread when eating the leftovers. Didn't hurt me any to have some ketchup to dip in too.

Since I first air fried a baked potato about a month ago, I have had quite a few. The other day while looking for big meal sized potatoes, I found a small one. it was so perfect and beautiful I had to have it.

The only problem with that potato was that it was too small to make a meal out of. So today I went and got a New York strip steak. A perfect companion for that beautiful potato.
