Mongolian bowl for lunch:

Poached egg on a toasted English muffin half with cultured butter, a pinch of flaky salt and lots of black pepper. Coffee.

Broccoli mashed potato stuff with smoked shredded (kind of, don't know the exact word) pork. In one word >>> De-li-ci-ous.

Yesterday I made delicious fennel soup.

:D

I finally got around to doing hard-boiled eggs in my Instant Pot. From now on that will be the method I use as it's so much easier than steaming them in a pot, which is what I've done previously. It's faster and the results are more consistent as the machine takes care of the temperature.

Made chili in the pressure cooker last night. It needed a lot more seasoning than the recipe called for.

A couple scoops of matcha ice cream with a heaping spoonful of Spicy Chili Crisp; the bittersweet ice cream and the salty, spicy and crunchy condiment work so great together.

Just had a steak salad, topped with shredded cheddar and Jen's Poppyseed dressing. Very good, but didnt write satiate me, so, since I am working from home, I'll go ahead and get myself a roast beef sandwich as well.

Cheddar dog cooked in a pan until it was blistered and rolling around, on a Sweet Hawaiian bun lightly toasted in the broiler with some barbecue sauce and air fried fries.

You should have just put it all in the air dryer at once. Heard them things are just that good

I have had exactly 2 bowls of ramen noodles the past two days. I contracted the rotavirus likely last week. The pain kicked in Tuesday morning and I've been in really rough shape this whole week. Finally it feels line ita starting to break though. Hopefully by the end if the weekend I'll be able to eat something of substance. A nice stew or soup perhaps

Italy has been my dream vacation for so long. Still is. But I don't think I'll be trying whatever that is.

I'm betting he's still in Thailand, not Italy.

Indeed. Village life in northern Thailand requires the eating of silk worms. They taste like French fries.

@kolio, I can assure you, the food in Italy is fine, but I was just using an expression, I haven’t been in Italy for several years. ;)

How much do the bugs cost? Are they eating them because of extreme poverty?

They are 500 baht per kilo, that’s currently about $16. I think they’re a delicacy because 500- is about 2 week’s worth of lunch money for me, so certainly not for the impoverished unless they are breeding the bugs themselves.

For dinner, sauteed some bitter melon with cuttlefish balls in XO sauce, grilled sliced pork belly that was marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil and mirin, and sauteed some chicken hearts with onion, green onion and leek, all with steamed some rice.

There's going to be enough food to last me a couple more meals, just in time for the work week to start.

If you ever make it, swing by Verona and have the popular horse stew (pastissada de caval).

You uhhh... you in a village in northern Thailand too?

Neighbor smoked a brisket and finished the evening with a Wild Turkey and Amaretto spiked vanilla milkshake.
