I’m heading out to an open air beer and bbq place in the mountains for a dinner. Hoping it doesn’t storm.
Rain held off. Sunset view from the mountain was incredible.
Not so much as a restaurant as a garden with hot grill, cold beer and hundreds of diners.

I drive 20 minutes into the sticks and was expecting a dive. Turns out this place was rammed, but well spaced as to not feel overly busy. High end dinner, and surprising not high end prices.

If any of you, dear members, even happen to find yourself* in Northern Thailand, do yourself a favour and watch the sun set over the mountains with beer and bbq for less than $20 per family at On The Rock.

*No spiritual pun intended.

One was a stir fry.

One had warm pita bread. And creamy hummus. Hummus.

Great view and sunset!! What brand of beer is that? It starts with a C cause I see it beside your thumb.

That's just my Road America can koozie. Beer of the night is Mich Golden, the cheap beer de jour.

Hey, I ate some black forest cake a week ago, it was so good!
Its full of wife's tears, sweat, love and my dead father-in-law homemade ratafia. RIP old men, your beverage was top notch. Also, thanks to our Serbian brothers that support us with awesome cheese even when we actively killing our(and their) brothers. Life is ****Ing tragicomedy.

Heart Stopper Breakfast Special, but for lunch: Toasted bagel sandwich with cream cheese on both halves, a several slices of bacon, and a couple over easy eggs fried in bacon fat.

Another IPA and another dud.

Red Hook “Storm Surge” hazy IPA 6.8%

Appearance: a beautiful amber that you cannot see through. It poured a thick, fluffy, large bubble head that disappears after a couple of sips.

Smell: it’s got a real boozy smell. Like a double or triple IPA would have. Notes is charred peaches and biscuit dough.

Taste: not much good to report here. It has almost zero hop tastes. It’s like they went pure malt and the placed one hop cone in the batch.
I’m not surprised. I’ve have 2 different Red Hooks prior to this and each of those were just meh. This follows the meh pattern.

1 out of 5. Order something else. Like water.

Just ate grilled chicken and coleslaw pitta.

Now washing it down with a cold pint of Rattler Cider.

My awesome wife knew I really enjoyed my drink on date night so she bought me 12 bottles and a pint glass. She’s the best.
