An impromptu lunch. Leftover bacon in the skillet with leftover charcuterie cheeses on it made into a sandwich, then a side various berries, a glass of sparkling water and kefir.

Against my better judgement, I went out with a mate who is visiting from Germany to a local Indian restaurant last night, and we ordered the 'Family Naan' - we actually ordered a peshwari naan as well, as there was another person there, and we managed to finish them both.

The naans were great, but the main dishes left something to be desired. My "Chicken tikka and garlic balti" was almost fluorescent red, and I think they mistook the word 'garlic' for salt, plus they waited until they served the food to bring our drinks over, which was kind of stupid.

I wasn't feeling great but I stayed out because a few other people pulled out of meeting with my mate, and the one chap who did turn up was really great company. However I am paying for it somewhat today - the main dishes are notoriously spicy i.e. their 'mild' can be anything from completely innocuous to 'you're going to have a sore bottom tomorrow', which is pretty much what I got.

Three people ate two of those?
No, the second naan was about half the size, albeit a peshwari naan which is thicker and sweeter.

That said, left alone with a quality, creamy, rich curry and a naan that size, I could finish that myself on a good day.

On an entirely unrelated note, The Guinness Book of World Records have been in touch regarding their Flatulence category - I reckon I have shot at their 'Duration', 'Volume' and 'Pungency' sub-categories.

Fixing to eat a salad with cucumbers, onions, olives, lettuce, bacon and eggs. A great meal for an afternoon like today.
I had a near identical salad this morning, except I replaced the cucumbers with mushrooms, the onions with hash browns, the olives with black pudding and the lettuce with two sausages.

For the first time ever, I chose not to go for lunch with my workmates today for two reasons - 1) I was genuinely busy at work and 2) they wanted to go to a Chinese 'soup place' that my friend and I had tried to go to before, but the guy behind the counter was so obnoxiously rude that I refuse to go back, and hoooo boy did I dodge a bullet....

My mate came back looking rather pissed off, and no wonder. They charged him £16 for his soup - £16. For soup. The others were charged between £9 and £13 each, which is still way too much. Frankly, I reckon it's a deliberate con for people who don't speak or read Chinese. But also, my Chinese mate has also warned me about some of these businesses being controlled by gangsters, which I don't find surprising at all. I'm fairly certain there's at least one Chinese restaurant very near my flat that is a front for some other kinds of home delivery services...

So, I had a 10" pizza from Little Italy with pepperoni.

At £8 for the pizza and a can of San Pellegrino Pompelmo, it's still a good deal, if slightly more expensive than my average lunch. But it NEVER fails - it's the best pizza in the city IMO, and my mate who paid double that for his gangster soup was genuinely quite miffed that he didn't bail out too. I doubt he will ever make that mistake again

So I take it the soup didn't come with a happy ending.

Always gotta love that Kroger meat!! We don't shop there anymore however because we are on a stricter diet. We haven't been there in 10 years. We shop at Wegman's, Costco and Whole Foods now. And Walmart too.
