What are your computer specs? Thread.

I built my own PC a week ago and figured I'd share what's in it!

Processor: Intel i5 4670K
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600mhz
Storage: 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD x2
3TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Graphics: EVGA GTX770 SuperClocked with ACX Cooler (2gb model)
Cooling: Corsair H100i
Power supply: Corsair TX750M
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 in black

Processor is slightly overclocked to 4.0ghz with stock voltage, but once I figure out how to do it properly I'll increase that. Lots of RAM to prepare for future habits, perhaps went a bit overkill on the cooling and motherboard but I wanted well-reviewed parts and I'm glad I got them.

GPU will undoubtedly be upgraded in future so I avoided the 4gb model on that basis.

I'm planning to do a budget PC build (just the tower, screen not included) costing roughly $600-$700 AUD. This will a be a build for War Thunder.
  • AMD FX 6300 (six-cores for $180, why not?)
  • 4GB RAM (apparently there's not much difference between 4GB and 8GB...)
  • R9 270/270X (undecided if to get X or not, what brand, and 1GB or 2GB)
  • Corsair CX500 PSU (cheap... :P)
Currently undecided on RAM brand, motherboard, etc.

Any suggestions for an ATX mid tower case that's not too wide? Thanks! :D

I use to build my own when I was younger and into overclocking. Now a days I just buy a work station and beef it up a little. I do PC gaming on sometimes, I plays most games with good frame rates 60+ at 1080p. It works fine for the time being and there's no need to upgrade yet.

I need some advice from the pc pro's here; for someone that doesn't want to bother with building his own pc, and frankly doesn't have a clue on how to do it neither, I wanna play games like AC, PCARS or Raceroom on a descent system; so how does this Ankermann pc compare for only 380€?:

http://www.amazon.es/Ankermann-PC-SILENT-STARµ-A4-5300-3-40GHz-Turbo/dp/B005ET4NMS/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1399734451&sr=8-7&keywords=ankermann

Seems like a descent deal no if you don't want everything ultra? Will PCARS and AC run good on a system like this and is it fairly future proof?

Here are the specs:

AMD A4-5300 2x 3.40GHz Turbo: 3.70GHz, AMD Radeon HD 7480D Graphic VGA - HDMI, Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, 1TB Toshiba HDD, 8 GB RAM, 24x DVD-RW Writer-, Card Reader.

I highly doubt it will run AC at a decent frame rate on even the most basic settings. Take a look at this chart. the HD7480D is on par with Intel's HD4000 integrated graphics, which I used for a few months on my rig to play games. It didn't take long for me to be shopping for a graphics card. Personally, I don't think you'll be happy with it.

Thanks gentlemen

The graphics card in yours (AMD Radeon R7 240 DDR3 2GB) is up to the job for good to max settings on AC/ PCARS?

I don't know, but it will do much better than the the integrated graphics. Someone much smarter than me will probably come and tell you the exact details, and how it does that and how it renders that.

:) Let's wait for the master race to arrive and enlighten us.

Well, I'm not really master race or something, but I am very sure, that the A4's integrated graphics won't run AC or pC.A.R.S. at any decent settings.

However, the R7 240 may be nice for some casual gaming, but to really max out those games you will need a GTX 660 or a R9 270 or something like that.

The MINIMUM requirements for AC is the HD4870, which is 5 tiers higher than the R7 240 in question and the recommended HD5850 is 7 higher. If your goal is AC, you're going to need better hardware.

I built my custom PC in June 2012 from two years of birthday money. This is as follows- hasn't been changed since. I'm starting to think I need a new CPU and GPU but I'm not quite sure yet.

Case- NZXT M59
Motherboard- ASUS M5A97
CPU- AMD FX-4100 Zambezi
GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 550Ti
RAM- Gskill RIPJAWS 8Gb (though it was only $40 when I bought it)
PSU- SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze
HDD- Seagate 1TB
-Windows 7 Home Premium
-24x DVD writer/reader
-couple blue LED fans
-$8 keyboard (I'm being serious, probably the best keyboard I've used)
Monitor- Acer 20" 1600x900 (last month I got a new desk(my old one literally fell apart) and is now attached to the wall)
-My case didn't come with memory card readers, so I got one of those also. Had two extra USB slots, too.

The computer itself, not including the monitor, keyboard or O.S., was right at $600.

iMac late 2011 :

Processor: Intel Core i5 2,7 GHz Quadcore

L2-Cache : 256 KB

L3-Cache: 6 MB

RAM: 4 GB

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB

OS X Mavericks

It's for Photoshop and sometimes to play games but very rare

I have a sapphire R9 270X and it can run assetto corsa on max details in 1080p very well. During races with 20 cars its not so good but that could be a cpu bottleneck. But yeah you will be very pleased with a 270X if that what you chose.

My laptop (Asus K55N-DS81) :
  • APU: AMD A8-4500M w/ Radeon HD7640G graphics
  • RAM: 4GB DDR3 800Mhz
  • HDD: 500GB Hitachi, 5400RPM
  • OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit
  • ODD: DVD SuperMulti

It runs Minecraft and Bad Company 2 great, and that's all I need it to do as far as gaming on it goes, but I can't say I'm not jelly of some of the beasts listed here. :P 👍

Don't worry, Assetto Corsa is just still not optimized.
I don't have a CPU bottleneck and the framerate still dips below 30 in a full field at ultra settings.
pCARS runs smoother with much more demanding graphics.

Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO (C2)
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-C12P SE14
RAM: ADATA DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti DC2OC
PSU: Enermax Revolution 87+ 850W
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 2,5" 250 GB SSD + Toshiba DT01ACA200 2 TB HDD

This box of mine, I'm not so sure that it'll run Project CARS on. Might have to get the Wii U version then.
Box was originally made in '08.
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP35-DS3P
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 8GB of DDR2 @333MHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB
Monitor: Dell, not sure if its 21 or 22 inch, resolution is 1680x1050, is nice.
Can run Assetto Corsa with high settings in time trials - 90-100fps, when racing - 30-40fps

i think you must be able to play Project CARS but with not so good performances ;) if you would have an "i5 / i7" it would be much better :D

Anything over 8 is pretty much overkill. I have 16 just in case I would need it for my 4K video renderings but, even then, I've never gone over 9.

My lappy has 16gb. I hit 15gb while simulating a 3 tier active directory domain with a federation trust to a single tier domain. Need more RAM so that I can get MAC OS in the mingle too.

You can't.
A lot of people have 64gb ram, but it's virtually useless.
Can't it be used to set up a RAM drive? As in it acts like a super fast hard drive you can store large commonly used items on or programs for max performance?

You mean like a virtual hard drive? You can... but in my experience it's not much faster.
